  • Ron Perlman is Asher in First Trailer for Aging Hitman Thriller 'Asher'

Ron Perlman is Asher in First Trailer for Aging Hitman Thriller 'Asher'

    Asher Trailer

“What happens in our business when you get too old?” Momentum Pictures has released the first official trailer for thriller titled Asher, yet another aging hitman must save his own life while he also saves another to redeem himself setup. Ron Perlman stars as the titular character Asher, a former Mossad agent now working out of Brooklyn as an assassin. His final job to get out goes wrong, and he ends up having to make a choice about what matters most to him. The full cast includes Famke Janssen, Peter Facinelli, Richard Dreyfuss, Jacqueline Bisset, Guy Burnet, Blake Perlman, Marta Milans, Jay Hieron, and David Wohl. Looks damn good, I dig Perlman in this role. He has the right amount of scruff and gravitas for this. ›››

  • YouTube could be arriving on the Nintendo Switch this month

The Nintendo Switch has been going from strength to strength since its launch last year, with a host of top-tier titles released for the hybrid console, but it still lacks many of the most popular apps you can find elsewhere.

One of those missing apps is YouTube, but that’s a gap that might be filled in the very near future: a few Switch users have spotted YouTube appearing in the “suggested” section of the Nintendo website, with an availability date of November 8. It’s not direct confirmation, but it appears to be a rather big hint.

We don’t have anything official from either YouTube or Nintendo, but we do know that Netflix and YouTube functionality was previously included on a Best Buy Nintendo Switch listing. The listing was later amended to remove the streaming services.

    Will Netflix be next?

Even with its solid gaming line-up and new games arriving all the time, it would make a lot of sense for Nintendo to add to the Switch’s capabilities – letting users relax and watch a few videos in between their gaming sessions.

At the moment Hulu is the only streaming service you can get on the Nintendo Switch, and that’s only available in the US. Let’s hope the imminent arrival of YouTube, if it does indeed show up, is the start of more and more services showing up on the portable console. The likes of Spotify and Amazon Prime Video would certainly be welcome.

Bearing in mind the Switch can be docked to a TV, this would be another way of getting YouTube – and maybe YouTube Music – up on the big screen as well. We’ll have to wait and see what happens on November 8, this coming Thursday.

  • Get Ready To Party Hard On The Switch Later This Month

    Murder on the dance floor.

A new listing on the Switch eShop has revealed the original Party Hard game by tinyBuild is arriving on 22nd November for $14.99. In the game, you take on the role of an individual who is tired of noisy neighbours holding loud and outrageous parties.

Instead of contacting law enforcement, you decide to take matters into your own hands by killing off the partygoers one at a time with your trusty knife. The action takes place in semi-procedural environments and is all about putting an end to the good vibes in the most unique ways possible. Rather than causing a scene, the game has you silently picking off unsuspecting victims.

  • Success Of Nintendo's Mini Systems Made It “Perfect Timing” For SNK To Release Its Own Device

    Restoring the past.

In the same interview with DualShockers where SNK Producer Yasuyuki Oda spoke about the possibility of bringing the newest entry in the King of Fighters series across to the Nintendo Switch, he also mentioned how the release of Nintendo’s miniature line of systems made it “perfect timing” for the Japanese company to release the Neo Geo Mini.

Although the system was planned and released after the arrival of NES and SNES Classic Mini systems, it was apparently an idea SNK had been considering for many years. Nintendo’s miniature systems showed the team at SNK there was a high demand for these types of products, making it easier for a similar project to be approved on SNK’s end.

  • Rumour: YouTube Could Be Arriving As Soon As Next Week On Nintendo Switch

    Watch this space.

Think back to earlier this year and you might recall a rumour that YouTube was finally on the way to the Nintendo Switch. As it turned out, this never happened. A few days after this, Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aimé said conversations to bring certain services to the Switch were on-going, but the primary short-term goal was to position the Switch as a game-playing device.

We’re now nearly two years into the Switch’s life, so what’s the latest on YouTube coming to Switch? According to post on ResetEra, the popular video service has been spotted under the Switch game recommendations section on the official Nintendo website. It’s even listed for release on 8th November, which happens to be next week. If you’re still not convinced, a while ago the final name for Yoshi’s Crafted World was leaked on the official website. Below is a tweet of the original discovery:

  • Preview: Battle Princess Madelyn Effortlessly Steps Into Sir Arthur's Boots

    Ghouls ‘n Ghosts fans, rejoice.

It’s been well documented by the team at Causal Bit Games that Battle Princess Madelyn is both a love letter and spiritual sequel to Capcom’s Ghouls ‘n Ghosts series. As for the rest of the title, the inspiration comes directly from the mind of a child who happens to be one of the creator’s daughters. As you might have read in our March 2017 interview with Causal Bit’s Creative Director Christopher Obritsch, it’s his daughter – who also stars as the heroine in the game – that has helped select the locations, levels and even devised full-blown battle plans for a number of boss fights. It’s essentially the imagination of a child directly translated into a playable video game experience. So how’s it shaping up? It’s quite promising based on our early playtest – adding just the right amount of nostalgia to the mix while expanding on plenty of original concepts.

Taking control of the young knight in training (aided by her ghostly pup named Fritzy), your task is to save your family (and kingdom) from an evil wizard. If you weren’t already aware, this is actually a universe set within a story being told by Madelyn’s Grandfather, while he sits at her bedside. After a lovely retro-style animation sequence sets the scene, the game warps Madelyn from her bed to this fantasy world on the brink of collapse.

  • 2K Confirms Civilization VI On Nintendo Switch Will Not Include Online Multiplayer

    Local it is.

As this month’s release of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI on Switch draws closer, the game’s official YouTube channel has been uploading videos teaching newcomers how to play the game. One thing Nintendo players won’t be learning about is how the online multiplayer component works. That’s because in this version of the game there’s no such mode.

A Reddit user known as ‘WinneonSword’ was reportedly the first to point out that the eShop listing for Civilization VI makes no mention of online multiplayer and only references the game’s local multiplayer. While it was suspected this mode might drop as a day one patch, publisher 2K has since confirmed to Eurogamer that the Switch version of the game won’t support it at all:

  • New Kingdom Hearts 3 Tangled Trailer Frees Rapunzel

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III, offering us another look at the Kingdom of Corona, a world based on Disney’s Tangled. In the video, which you can watch above, Sora, Donald, and Goofy stumble upon the tower where Rapunzel is being held and help set her free. But before long the newly liberated princess finds herself face to face with a monster.

Flynn Rider is also there, but quickly opts to take a backseat in battles, saying that he can get Rapunzel back to the kingdom but will need Sora and his companions to handle combat, which they have quite a bit of experience with at this point. The quick gameplay showcase also provides another look the traversal ability Rapunzel has, which involves swinging using her hair.

Much of the celebrity voice talent that was attached to the Disney universes featured in Kingdom Hearts III are reprising their roles, as are key performers from previous Kingdom Hearts titles. Haley Joel Osment returns to voice Sora, while Zachary Levi will return as Flynn Rider and Donna Murphy will once again be Mother Gothel. For Frozen, Idina Menzel is voicing Elsa, Kristen Bell is Anna, Josh Gad is Olaf, and Jonathan Groff is Kristoff.

John Ratzenberger and Wallace Shawn will feature as Hamm and Rex from Toy Story, while Tate Donovan is back as Hercules from Hercules, and Kevin R. McNally as Gibbs from The Pirates of the Caribbean. Tony Anselmo and Bill Farmer, who have served as the official voices of Donald Duck and Goofy for over than 30 years each, will also reprise their roles.

Utada Hikaru, who has provided the vocal theme for previous mainline Kingdom Hearts titles, will once again lend her voice for the third game. This time, however, the soundtrack will also feature a collaborative track made with Skrillex. Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release on January 29, 2019 on Xbox One and PS4.

  • Pokemon Go Gengar Day Is Today, Features Shiny Gengar

Ghost Pokemon have been a common sight in Pokemon Go this past week thanks to the recent Halloween 2018 festivities, and soon one will be the star of its very own special event. Niantic has announced it is hosting a Gengar Day on Saturday, November 3, bringing the Shadow Pokemon to Raid Battles for a limited time. [Update: Gengar Day has arrived; be sure to check out the schedule below to see when the event is underway in your region.]

Like Pokemon Go’s monthly Community Days, Gengar Day will be a brief event, only running for three hours. During that window of time, the Shadow Pokemon will appear as a Raid Battle at Gyms. These require a Raid Pass to join, but you’ll be able to get five of them for free from a nearby Gym to help you participate.

Not only will Gengar spawn frequently at Gyms during the event, you’ll also have a chance of coming across a Shiny one. You may not initially be able to tell it’s a Shiny at first glance, however; unlike most other Pokemon, Gengar’s Shiny variant is only subtly different from its standard form. It’s still worth getting one, though, particularly if you plan on picking up Let’s Go Pikachu or Let’s Go Eevee for Nintendo Switch when they launch next month.

Shiny Mega Gengar artwork for Pokemon X/Y

Any Gen 1 Pokemon you catch in Pokemon Go can be transferred to the Switch titles, where you’ll then be able to recapture them at a new facility called the Go Park. If you do manage to find and get a Shiny Gengar during the upcoming Gengar Day event, you’ll want to bring it over to Let’s Go; Gengar is one of the few Pokemon capable of Mega Evolving, and Shiny Mega Gengar (pictured above) is one of the coolest-looking Pokemon in the games. You can find the hours for each region’s Gengar Day event below.

Pokemon Go’s Halloween event is scheduled to end on November 1. It introduced a handful of new Ghost and Dark Pokemon to the game, along with the Gen 4 Legendary Pokemon Giratina, which will appear in Raid Battles until November 20. You’ll also be able to encounter another Gen 4 Ghost Pokemon, Spiritomb, by completing a new Special Research questline.

Meanwhile, Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee launch for Nintendo Switch on November 16. As previously mentioned, players can transfer monster from Go to Let’s Go, and doing so is the key to getting the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan, which we recently learned is able to evolve into a Pokemon called Melmetal. You can read more about the games in our hands-on impressions of Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.
