Spyro Drone Flies Across America To Deliver Spyro Reignited Trilogy To Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg is a big fan of Spyro the Dragon, and with the release of Spyro Reignited Trilogy coming up, he’s being delivered a personal copy in a very special way.

A giant, fire-breathing Spyro drone is flying across America, from New York City to Los Angeles, to bring the Spyro Reignited Trilogy right to Snoop Dogg’s doorstep.

  • Reader Discussion – Do You Use The HDMI In Port On Your Xbox One?

Reader Discussion – Do You Use The HDMI In Port On Your Xbox One?

When it launched back in 2013, the Xbox One promised it would be the all-in-one solution for media in your living room. This meant equipping it with an HDMI In port, which let you run other inputs, like that of a cable box, through it as well, letting you watch (and in some cases, control) your TV without swapping inputs. Neat, right?

I just don’t think anyone uses it. For me, it acts as a test of memory when I’m trying to hook mine up to an new TV. Is the HDMI port I need to hook it up to my TV the one closest to the power cable, or the one furthest away. I swear I screw it up at least 70 percent of the time. But why is that port still there!?

I’m happy to be proven wrong about my assumption. Do you actually use that thing, for TV or anything else? Let me know!

  • Bungie Removing New Crucible Mode Breakthrough From Competitive Playlist

Bungie Removing New Crucible Mode Breakthrough From Competitive Playlist

Shortly after the release of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion, Bungie released Breakthrough, a new tug-of-war mode which had two teams facing off for control of two separate points in short rounds. However, after the mode dropped, players were able to find exploits in the mode, Bungie has removed it from the competitive playlist, in which players’ rank matters.

Since its release, players have found some issues with the mode that made the mode less fun to play than normal. One example was high-skilled players being able to lock weaker teams out of the first point entirely without actually capturing, which could make a match go on indefinitely and let the better team rack up kills in order to increase their overall kill-death ratio.

While it is currently being ousted from competitive, it will may still show up as the weekly featured playlist, where play is more casual and points matter far less.

In the meantime, Bungie is still taking feedback on the mode, so if you play the mode and have thoughts, let them know on their official forums.

Breakthrough has proven be a strange mode, with some lopsided balance issues beyond exploits. However, I like the idea of something other than Control entering rotation, so I’m hoping Bungie can iron out the issues.

  • Review: Jumping Flash! – Unique 90s Platforming from a First-Person Perspective

    Buy it, don’t Robbit.

The 16-bit console wars were merciless. During the early concept stage of the PlayStation console, Sony took part in an ill-fated collaboration with Nintendo to create a CD-ROM add-on for the SNES. In September 1995, Jumping Flash! was a PSone launch title, and it’s the type of game that makes you wonder what would have happened if Nintendo hadn’t engaged in their infamous double dealing. Published by Sony but created by a little known developer called Exact Inc., Jumping Flash! feels visually like the natural continuation of games from the Super Famicom era, but presented through 32-bit polygon worlds.

Viewed from a first-person perspective, the gameplay in Jumping Flash! still feels fresh today. You pilot and control a gigantic robotic rabbit, unsurprisingly named Robbit, across 18 stages that are spread over six worlds. Each level is a floating island, and there is a light-headed sense of exhilaration and verticality as Robbit triple jumps upwards, ascending platforms and searching to collect four hidden carrot-shaped jetpods. Robbit reaches the dizzying heights of Super Mario Sunshine’s rocket nozzle, but with a greater sense of control, because with each leap Robbit looks downward, allowing you to judge where to land based upon his shadow.

  • Here's Your First Look at Persona 5 Protagonist Joker in Catherine

    No Joker.

It’s the crossover event of the century – well, no, it’s not really, but it’s still pretty neat. Persona 5 protagonist Joker will be playable in remaster-cum-remake Catherine: Fully Body, assuming you pre-order and pick up a first-print copy in Japan. And while the character will only be accessible in the Babel and Colosseum modes, here’s your first look at the high schooler in action.

You can catch the masked hero in action from 1:27:25 in the video embedded above. Again, there’s still no word on when this edition will come to Western shores, but Atlus has promised that it’s on the way at some point next year.

  • Tangled Shines in New Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer

    January is looking too good.

Yes, guys! Kingdom Hearts 3 is a mere three months away, and short of a last-minute disaster, it finally does look like the game will see the light of day. Judging by this latest trailer at least, it looks ready to be taken fresh out the oven.

Square Enix just a while ago gave fans a better glimpse on Twilight Town and its inhabitants via screenshots. However, this time, Rapunzel steals the spotlight alongside Flynn, helping Sora battle out some enemies out of the Kingdom of Corona. Not only do we hear celebrities reprising their roles, but we also get a better view to the revamped combat gameplay the game will offer.

  • PS Vita's All-Time US Best-Sellers Show Why Sony Binned System

Top ten’s life sales equivalent to Spidey’s first month.

NPD analyst Mat Piscatella has released the list of all-time best-selling PlayStation Vita software in the United States, and it paints a pretty damning picture. Top of the charts is launch title Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and it’s followed by the dismal Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and the average at best Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. The likes of Mortal Kombat and LittleBigPlanet PS Vita round out the top five, with fan favourite Persona 4 Golden reaching eighth position without digital data included. There’s even space for the forgettable Unit 13 in tenth place.

What does this tell us? Well, first of all that the handheld was practically dead by 2013, as the excellent Killzone: Mercenary is the only title released outside of 2012 to actually make the list. According to industry analyst and Reset Era admin ZhugeEx, the combined total of these ten games is roughly the same as Marvel’s Spider-Man’s first month on sale in the United States.

  • Teaser Trailer for '438 Days' Film About Swedish Journalists in Prison

Teaser Trailer for '438 Days' Film About Swedish Journalists in Prison

    438 Days Trailer

“I took an enormous risk… Me, and my colleagues, we take those risks every day because we believe that journalism is a force for good.” Screen Daily has released the first teaser trailer for a film titled 438 Days, which is still in production but still looking for international attention. The film is based on the true story of two Swedish journalists who were locked up for 438 days in Ethiopia inside the notorious Kality prison in Addis Ababa, after being tried as terrorists even though they were just there as journalists trying to report on the hunt for oil effecting the local population. Gustaf Skarsgård and Matias Varela star as Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson, who later wrote a book about this. The full cast also includes Fredrik Evers, Josefin Neldén, Philip Zandén, Faysal Ahmed, and Jesper Ganslandt. This is only a teaser with a tiny bit of footage, but it looks quite good – real and intense and raw. I’m intrigued to see more. Take a look. ›››

Brief Tech Update – We're Now More Secure / Site Upgrade Complete

    Website Update

Good news, everyone! We’ve just finished a technical update and FirstShowing is now a fully armed and operational battle station. Nah, but seriously we’ve made a few major backend tech changes to strengthen the server and keep everything up to date. The site is now secure through SSL, meaning it’s https:// for the domain, not http:// anymore. All the cool kids are doing it. The server is setup to automate everything and send everyone to the right URL, so don’t worry. We’re also trying to keep it running fast and efficient. If you notice any errors or something wrong, please contact us and include a screenshot as well. And if you notice any bad ads, please send a message here. A complete redesign is still too costly, but this one should keep us going for now. Always want to keep the server updated to the current web standards and running at its best.
