Fortnite Account Merger Delayed To 2019

The saga of Fortnite accounts in 2018 has been a roller coaster ride so far. When accounts that were ever used on the PlayStation 4 were unable to be used on Xbox One, people thought it was just a glitch. The ban on PS4 accounts on other systems became much more explicit when the Switch version came out this past June, confirming that Fortnite PS4 accounts were locked to that system by Sony fiat. The furor over this became so great that Sony ended up relenting on crossplay, freeing up those accounts to work on whatever system they need to.

In the meantime, however, players had created secondary accounts to get around Sony’s locks and made purchases on those accounts. Epic had promised the ability to merge accounts to put all those purchases on a single account, but is delaying that feature into 2019.

“Due to some ongoing technical concerns, we will be delaying the Account Merge feature until early next year,” Epic wrote in a blog post. “We want to make sure that this process is thoroughly tested and working properly before releasing it to those of you currently looking to transfer purchases from other accounts to your primary account. We’ll be sure to update you as we get closer to the release of the feature, which will include a web page on launch to help guide you through the flow!”

At the announcement of account merging, Epic was targeting a November 2 date. It’s now going to blow past that by at least a few months. So if you are still waiting to combine your accounts to get all your purchases under the same name, you’ll have to wait a little while longer.

  • Bethesda Reveals More On December Patches For Fallout 76

Bethesda Reveals More On December Patches For Fallout 76

Bethesda has unveiled the next round of patches for Fallout 76 – a game many have complained is overly buggy, even by Bethesda’s standards.

The new post by Bethesda contains more details on the specifics of each patch. On December 4, the first patch will bring additional stability to the servers and fix some bugs like getting stuck in power armor, bosses not dispensing appropriate loot, and C.A.M.P. stand-alone items disappearing when players relocate. The patch also includes a few quality-of-life improvements like increasing the stash box storage limit from 400 to 600 pounds and increasing automatic weapon damage by 20 percent.

As previously reported in an Inside the Vault letter, Bethesda also detailed its plans for the December 11 patch, which will allow players to respec their S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points, implement a push-to-talk setting for voice chat, and bring more improvements to its C.A.M.P. placement. Among other additions like new quests and vaults, Bethesda also mentioned plans to implement a faction-based PvP system in the letter. Thus far, many fans have found the game’s PvP to be inadequate.

Going forward, the developer also promised to reduce the size of the patches after complaints ensued over their very large November 19 patch. The next patch 1.0.2.0 will be approximately 3 GB for consoles and around 36 MB for PC.

So far, the game has sparked a bit of controversy with its issue-laden launch with some fans angered over a collector’s addition bag that isn’t exactly as advertised, and one law firm even soliciting players for a class-action lawsuit. For our take on the post-nuclear sim, you can go here.

  • World of Tanks: Mercenaries Gets a New Perspective with Commander Mode

World of Tanks: Mercenaries Gets a New Perspective with Commander Mode

For nearly five years, we’ve carefully refined and improved the awesome experience of getting into tanks and blowing the hell out of other tanks at the ground level. But variety is the spice of life, as the cliché goes, and this December, we’re offering you something a little different alongside the tank deathmatches you know and love.

Between November 30 and December 9, Commander Mode will be available from the main menu in World of Tanks: Mercenaries on Xbox One. We’ve been testing this over the last few months with the help of our community, whose feedback has been invaluable in helping us bring an awesome new experience to both veteran players and newcomers to the game.

Here are three reasons why you should dive in and duke it out in this new mode while you can…

    World of Tanks Mercenaries

    World of Tanks Mercenaries

    A New Battlefield Perspective

Commander Mode takes the action from the ground to the sky, giving you a whole new perspective of the battlefield. Fans of real-time strategy games like Halo Wars 2 and Command & Conquer will be in their element as this new mode invites commanders to take a god’s eye view of the battlefield.

Combat has been simplified for a smooth experience. Damage to crews and modules has been disabled, and all units will be loaded with unlimited default ammunition, leaving you to focus on vehicle placement and your own battle prowess!

    Command and Conquer

As the Commander, you have total mastery over a platoon of nine vehicles. With a complete view of the battlefield and its strategic possibilities, select and command your vehicles to move and fight. Think fast to coordinate devastating flanking manoeuvres, rush the enemy with the full force of your platoon, or come up with other creative and cunning ways to achieve victory!

You can give commands to individual vehicles for carefully planned attacks, or groups of them for a cavalry rush. Order your tanks to follow waypoints, attack the enemy, or retreat from heated battles easily thanks to the intuitive control scheme.

    Bring Down the Man

If you feel like sticking it to the man, head into battle as a Tanker to wage war from the ground level! While the Commander controls an entire platoon, as the Tanker you’ll join forces with five other players to try and outfox the enemy Commander.

The Tanker offers more of a classic World of Tanks-like experience. With one of six tanks randomly assigned when you head into battle — and most of the rules of battle are still applicable – for you to focus on bringing down the Commander.

Try out Commander Mode in World of Tanks: Mercenaries for a limited time until December 9 on Xbox One!

There’s still a week to go, so hopefully we start seeing more art from different companies. Hopefully Square Enix contributes some art, though Tetsuya Nomura did provide a poster for Cloud’s inclusion when he was announced as DLC in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. (Update: He did!)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s director recently explained why Kirby became the hero of the game’s story mode, and also told us how he feels about some fans being disappointed by character choice. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is releasing on December 6 on Nintendo Switch.

  • Red Dead Redemption Online Open To Everyone Today

Red Dead Redemption Online Open To Everyone Today

If you have a copy of Red Dead Redemption II and connection to internet, you can now ride out into the wild world wide web. Red Dead Redemption II Online is available for everyone today. You can experience many activities from the single-player game, like hunting, fishing, and treasure-hunting, but now you can do it with friends while staying on guard for other hostile players. Not sure what to expect? Watch our latest New Gameplay Today segment where the Game Informer posse accepted some morally questionable missions then jumped into a gun fight.

To get you started on the right foot, Rockstar has a list of tips and tricks for navigating the online experience:

Character creation: Tap X/A to enter the customize section, click R3/Right-Stick to quickly see your character’s face without facial hair, and Tap L1/LB and R1/RB to quickly check your character’s profile.

Player menu: Tap d-pad left to bring up the player menu where you can see other players in the session and your friends, form or join a Posse, manage your camp and horses, quickly join matches or series, and adjust your voice chat options.

Fast travel: You can fast travel via signposts.

Co-op story-based missions: Visit Horley in Blackwater to start the quest A Land of Opportunities.

Treasure maps: You’ll receive treasure maps when you hit rank 10 and every 5 ranks after that. You also have a chance to pick one up when looting enemy bodies, after clearing a hideout, or surviving an ambush.

Catalogue: Hold down left on the d-pad to bring up the catalogue to pick up provisions, tonics, weapons, and ammo. Once purchased, you can recover most of your goods from your camp’s lockbox or the post office. New weapons can be found on your horse and clothing will be added to your wardrobe. Any horses or saddles will go to the stable.

Ability cards: Ability cards have 3 categories – combat, recovery, and defense – which you can upgrade and switch out at any time.

  • Fire Emblem Gets Its Own Expo In Japan

Fire Emblem Gets Its Own Expo In Japan

Fire Emblem’s resurgence in popularity continues, so much so the series is getting its own expo.

Today, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems revealed a live event is set for May 4 at the Zepp Tokyo venue.

Details are still scarce on what the expo exactly entails, but it was teased that more information would come in an upcoming broadcast for the Japanese trading card game, Fire Emblem 0 (Cipher) on December 8.

If you plan to make the trek to Japan, ticket sales start on December 28 at 6:00 PM JST (4:00 AM CST).  You can visit the official site here.

Chances are slim, but I’d also love to see this expo come to North America. The cosplay is going to be amazing.  In the meantime, let’s hope we get more information regarding the upcoming Switch game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses soon.
