The best iPhone 6S deals and UK contracts in June 2019

When it comes to Apple, there is a clear divide between its top of the line flagship devices with their massive price tags, and Apple’s earlier, far more affordable devices with their mid-range specs – the iPhone 6S falls into the latter category.

We’ve had a fair few new iPhones since the 6S, we’ve had the 8’s, iPhone X’s and now the iPhone XS Max (bit of a mouthful really). The good news here is that these new releases have driven the prices of the iPhone 6S way, way down. Sub-£20 a month tariffs appear quite frequently now, so getting a great deal on Apple’s 2015 flagship phone makes it a great budget option if you don’t want to spend the earth on your new iPhone deal.

If you want more than the minimum of data, then check out our comparison chart below, or head straight down to our pick of the best tariffs on the web.

The 6S may be one of iPhone’s older phones now, but it still features a lot of the features we have come to expect from flagships. It has improved battery life and 3D touch, where you can press a bit harder on the screen to get a different response.

It may be very similar to its predecessor, but there’s no denying that the iPhone 6s makes a fantastic alternative to the more expensive Apple devices like the iPhone 8 and iPhone XR. The phone works fluidly at nearly every task and will cost you a lot less than Apple’s current flagships. Low end cost with high end features

  • Some might say you’ll definitely (maybe) look back in anger on Prime Day with this Kindle Oasis deal

The suddenly previous-gen Kindle Oasis e-reader has just received quite a big discount in both the US and UK and the Prime Day deals are still some time off, folks.

That’s because Amazon has just announced the all-new Kindle Oasis (2019), which is almost identical to be honest, but it now comes with a warm-light option that’s a bit easier on the eyes and better replicates the color of real pages on some books. The battery capacity has been slightly increased too, as has the page refresh rate. It makes an already class-leading e-reader even more appealing. Shame the prices start at $249.99 and £229.99.

However, the previous version of the Kindle Oasis was priced the same until today and now you can save $50 on the US price and £30 on the UK RRP. The thing is though, when we’re arguably less than a month away from Amazon Prime Day, we’d advise caution as we might see an even better price as Amazon will be keen to clear stock out to give top-billing to the new version.

Will the Prime Day deals be better?

These prices are for the entry-level Oasis with 8GB of storage and special offers on the lock screen (we don’t think it’s worth the hassle paying extra to get them removed). 8GB is more than enough if you’re not planning on cramming in loads of audiobooks as it’ll happily store thousands of books. If audiobooks are your thing, then there’s the larger 32GB version to consider. There’s an even more expensive option that comes with a free 3G signal if you’re wanting to download titles and access online features when away from a Wi-Fi connection. It’s an expensive upfront price for the feature though.

Fancy seeing how the cheaper Kindles stack up? They’re pretty exceptional devices all the way down to the cheapest version nowadays to be honest. Here are the best Kindle sale prices and deals.

  • Review: Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled – An Unapologetically Retro Racing Revival

    Resolution wump.

On a lot of levels, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is a resounding success. This Beenox recreation of the 20-year-old original looks and sounds fantastic, and it plays just like it did back in the day. For fans, it’s about as good a remake as you could hope for, but we’re not quite convinced that a prettified retread is enough of a jump.

What’s immediately clear is that the developer has a lot of reverence for the source material, and rightly so. Back in 1999, Crash Team Racing was the PSone’s answer to Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing, taking the bandicoot and his cohorts to the races with a fleshed out single player adventure and a unique boosting system. At the time, it was a brilliant alternative to Nintendo’s efforts, and easily the best kart racer to grace Sony’s original console. Two decades later, Nitro-Fueled sticks uncannily closely to the gameplay template laid out by the first game, and it results in a remake that’s both satisfying, and a little underwhelming, to play.

  • The Internet Has Decided on a Name for Cyberpunk 2077’s Platinum Trophy

    You’re beautiful, obvs.

“You’re beautiful,” beamed the Internet’s current BFF Keanu Reeves. It was basically the only memorable moment from a desperately dull E3 2019, and if fans have their way, it will be immortalised in Cyberpunk 2077. A trending Change.org petition has requested developer CD Projekt Red to name the upcoming RPG’s Platinum Trophy after the moment – and it’s already accumulated near to 30,000 signatures at the time of typing.

Given that the Polish studio has a penchant for listening to its community, we can see this making its way into the final game – especially if the campaign continues to gain steam over the coming days. Would you like the title’s final virtual trinket to be named after John Wick himself? Say something affectionate in the comments section below.

  • Vigor Update 0.9: Aid is Coming in July to Xbox One

Vigor Update 0.9: Aid is Coming in July to Xbox One

Waiting… waiting never changes. After a burst of new information about the upcoming Summer Release, there’s been next to no news from our side. Indeed, we prepared a handful of minor updates – including the addition of Random Duos – yet there was nothing major on the horizon.

    Vigor Update 0.9

    Vigor Update 0.9

Right now, we are working hard to create the best possible experience for when the game fully releases as a free-to-play title in Summer 2019. Indeed, we know you would like to take a closer look and give it a try as soon as possible – and that’s one of the reasons we prepared one last major update before the actual release. So, without further ado, let’s see what’s in Update 0.9: Aid that is coming in July.

We listen to the feedback of the community. Sometimes, it may not seem so at first glance, but we really do. Our developers have managed to go through each and every report of wobbly shooting to improve the gunplay – we found some gnomes in the machine, and sent them packing. That means shooting should be much more reliable now, and all the weapons got some more configuration love as well. You should be able to enjoy the gunplay more than ever, and the same goes for the animations and interactions.

    Vigor Update 0.9

    Vigor Update 0.9

Many of you proposed we should focus on customizations and a possibility to acquire them for Crowns. This is actually something we have already been working on in the background, and Update 0.9 should finally see the Outlander’s shop in the game. Speaking of customizations… what if no one gets to see you in the Encounter? Well, we decided to add an option for you to learn from your mistakes and return to the Encounter as a spectator once you are killed. Learn from the best – see how they play and check out their attire.

Do you still remember the first time you saw Vigor? It was a rough experience, waking up in dark tunnel without any leads for what to do. This should change with a new tutorial that’s going to bring you up to speed. We went through various focus tests and decided to change the structure. You are now going to get a helping hand – yet, it will still be up to you to decide who you going to trust in the outlands.

    Vigor Update 0.9

    Vigor Update 0.9

As you can imagine, Update 0.9 is going to be a big one. In the meantime, we plan to showcase some more content that is currently being prepared for you. Stay tuned!

That’s all for now! As always, keep sending us your feedback on Twitter and Facebook.

See you in post-war Norway, Outlanders.

Vigor is available now as an Game Preview title for Xbox One via the Microsoft Store. Click here for details.

  • New Judgment Gameplay Video Shows Off Investigation, Combat, and Cats

    The eye of judgment.

We’re getting very close to the western release of Judgment, the new game from Yakuza Studio. The spin-off, starring private investigator Takayuki Yagami, is similar to the team’s other games, but has you on the right side of the law, looking into shady murder cases throughout Kamurocho. In this new, 20-minute gameplay video, we get a good look at the game and what you’ll be getting up to.

The whole thing looks very Yakuza, although it seems to be trying a few new things. Combat looks a little snappier, and you’re able to jump off walls and evade attacks easier. There are dialogue options that look to lead to some amusing scenarios, and it looks like the investigation is pretty straightforward. Spotting cats throughout the game is a fun distraction, too. The whole game looks like it has that brilliant sense of humour found in the Yakuza games.

  • Penn & Teller Bring Scam Minigames to PSVR Next Month

    As pointless as it looks.

You may be familiar with Penn & Teller Smoke and Mirrors for SEGA CD, a daft minigame compilation designed specifically to scam your friends with. It never came out, but titles like Desert Bus have become urban legends, prompting remakes of their own. Now the American duo are back with PlayStation VR release Penn & Teller VR: F U, U, U, & U, which is due out on 9th July.

That name, by the way, stands for Penn & Teller VR: Frankly Unfair, Unkind, Unnecessary, & Underhanded – which sounds like a great way to describe one of the included minigames, where you’re supposed to lure pals into smashing real-world eggs. Look, it’s clearly not going to win any awards, but at least it’s being sold on the basis of how utterly pointless it actually is.

  • The Metal Gear Solid Remake Made in Dreams Has Handed Over the Tools to You

    Hideo Kojima Retweets.

Do you remember the thoroughly impressive Metal Gear Solid remake that was coming together in Dreams from about a month ago? Well, there’s good news and bad news. On a positive note, YouTube user Bearly Regal has been working tirelessly to fine-tune the opening area to create the best possible recreation, which you can check out in the video above. The bad news is that unfortunately, this is all we’ll be getting.

The creator has fallen on ill health, stating: “The original plan was to rebuild the entire game but unfortunately I don’t have the time to continue the project (and my health isn’t particularly great either) so I’m passing the gauntlet over to you!” It’s a sad turn of events, but Bearly Regal has done something to allow other creators to manufacture their own Metal Gear Solid levels.

  • Review: Crash Team Racing – Naughty Dog Created the Best Kart Racer on PSone

    Bandicoot power slide.

Start your engines, and fasten your seatbelts for another Naughty Dog creation. In this case it’s CTR: Crash Team Racing from 1999, which also happens to be the greatest kart racing game on the PSone. Released in the same year as Speed Freaks, and colourful mascot racers like Bomberman Fantasy Race on PSone, Crash Team Racing stood out with balanced gameplay, excellent controls, and reliable kart manoeuvrability. This combined effectively with graphics and a soundtrack that conveyed the fun and vibrancy of the Crash Bandicoot universe.

If you read the Nintendo Life review of Super Mario Kart, the original SNES title set out a solid template for gameplay in kart racing games. Crash Team Racing adheres to this model as you hop into a power slide around corners, collect ten Wumpa Fruit to make your kart juiced up, target speed boost pads, and use weapons and track shortcuts as a strategy towards victory. Just like in Super Mario Kart, on lower difficulties during the Arcade mode’s cups, a rival character will appear consistently on top of the leader-board for each race, yet this rivalry becomes less prominent on the hard difficulty, as crossing the finish line in first against aggressive AI competitors becomes more chaotic.
