  • Red Dead Online’s Halloween Mode Sounds Like a Nightmare

    But not an Undead Nightmare.

Running from now until the 12th November, Red Dead Online’s new Fear of the Dark multiplayer mode sounds like an interesting take on its often intense player versus player encounters. It pits a team of ‘Night Stalkers’ against a team of hunters, but the twist is that the Night Stalkers are “supernaturally fast, tough, and strong”.

  • Don’t Expect Dragon Age 4 to Release Until at Least April 2022

    We’ll be waiting a while.

EA has provided an update on the development of Dragon Age 4, and it’s not good news for anyone who was hoping to play BioWare’s next big RPG any time soon. Of course, it’s going to be a PlayStation 5 game, but it’s not set to release for a good couple of years.

During its latest earnings call, EA stated that while the next entry in the Dragon Age franchise is indeed in production, it won’t launch until after its fiscal year for 2022. In layman’s terms, this means it won’t hit PS5 until at least April 2022. Originally announced at The Game Awards 2018, the follow-up to Dragon Age: Inquisition was clearly a long ways off after its minute-long teaser trailer showed pretty much nothing of the actual game. This news only further backs that up as the developer struggles to work out what to do with ANTHEM.

  • Random: Sony Trademarks PlayStation 10 in Japan

    And others.

Sony may be preparing for the release of the PlayStation 5 in Holiday 2020, but that’s not stopped it from thinking about the future. Over in Japan, the manufacturer has filed trademarks for the PS6, PS7, PS8, PS9, and PS10. This is obviously just security, but it’s still rather amusing to see; realistically, we wouldn’t expect a hypothetical PlayStation 10 to launch until 2055 or so.

What would a PS10 even look like? Will we still be playing games with a traditional DualShock controller, or will we connect the console directly to our brains? Seriously, though, will classic games systems even exist that far into the future? Streaming looks set to upset the current model, so it’s perfectly possible that the PlayStation of the future will merely be an app.

  • How Long Is Persona 5 Royal? Atlus Says It’s About the Same as Persona 5, Despite All the New Stuff

    The Phantom Thieves strike again.

If you were expecting Persona 5 Royal to be even longer than Persona 5 — which is already an incredibly lengthy game sitting at around 80 to 100 hours — then you may be happy (or unhappy) to know that Atlus has spoken out on the subject. According to the developer, Persona 5 Royal will be about as long as the original, despite the fact that it incorporates a load of new stuff like additional social scenes and expanded gameplay mechanics.

  • Luigi’s Mansion 3 Guide: RIP Suites Walkthrough

This portion of the Luigi’s Mansion 3 guide contains a walkthrough for your first official objectives. After installing the elevator tracker, you’ll need to practice contacting Professor E.Gadd by opening up your menu and connecting to the Professor E.Gadd Hotline. Once that’s done, you’ll have your main objective: recover E. Gadd’s Briefcase.

These objectives will take you through the Basement (B!), Grand Lobby (Floor 1), and part of the Mezzanine (Floor 2). Near the end of this mission, you’ll have to defeat the Maid Boss who has swallowed Professor E.Gadd’s briefcase. After returning to the lab, Professor E.Gadd will give you the gift (and curse) of being able to summon Gooigi.

  • The 21 Side-Quests That Are Always in RPGs

Ever rounded up a bunch of sheep or pigs or horses into a pen and thought…this feels familiar? How about when you’re in someone’s house for dinner and something feels a little, I don’t know, “off” about what they’re serving? What about when old Doris the NPC who lives across the street can’t find her beloved frying pan?

Here, we’ve rounded up the quest-types that we see over and over again in RPGs, for better or worse (I’m looking at you, “killing rats and spiders”). Tell us your favorites in the comment section below!

The Monster That’s Terrorizing a Town Turns Out To Be Humans (Bandits and/or Rowdy Kids)

There’s a horrible beast in the woods that’s been stealing chickens and… sweet rolls? Or maybe it’s actually bandits and they are kidnapping kids. Either way, that big bad wolf is actually just some guy named Geoff. Or a kid named Jeff. Either way, you better give them a stern talking to. Maybe sometimes a real monster shows up to teach this lesson for you. Examples include: The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn. – Jon Ryan, Senior Editor

  • Rumour: Overwatch 2 Targeting Play of the Game As Underfire Blizzard Brace for BlizzCon

    Lord have Mercy.

Blizzard will be hoping that the announcement of Overwatch 2 will ease tensions at convention BlizzCon later this week, after the company recently came under intense scrutiny for suspending a professional Hearthstone player who spoke out in support of Hong Kong. According to ESPN, the next iteration of the organisation’s first-person shooter will include new game modes, maps, heroes, and PvE gameplay options.

The broadcaster, which obtained a document detailing the unannounced sequel, claims that “Hero talents and in-game talents are coming to PvE, and one of the missions will be a four-player story experience set in Rio de Janeiro”. Apparently, there’ll be a greater emphasis on narrative this time, though a fresh multiplayer mode named ‘Push’ will join the release’s ranks. You should expect the unveiling of a new Hero during BlizzCon as well, with attendees at the Anaheim Convention Centre able to go hands on with the sequel this weekend.

  • Tekken 7 Is Finally Getting In-Game Frame Data Alongside Additional Training Modes

    Plus Harada customisation items.

Despite its undeniable popularity as a fighting game, Tekken 7 has never provided players with much in the way of a tutorial or any in-depth training modes. In particular, a lot of people have been asking for in-game frame data since launch, but the development team — more specifically, Tekken godfather Katsuhiro Harada — has always been against the idea.
