  • Street Fighter Producer Yoshinori Ono ‘Would Love to See’ Final Fight Return

    To repay his investment.

Capcom and its employees can’t stop talking about reviving the company’s older IPs at the moment. After stating that the Japanese publisher plans on bringing back some of its classic franchises off the back of Resident Evil 2 and Onimusha: Warlords, one of the studio’s most recognisable figureheads got in on the act.

Yoshinori Ono, the producer of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V, said that he “would love to see” the return of Capcom’s classic fighting series – Final Fight. Speaking at EGX 2019, Ono said: “The one I invested the most money into whenever I was still a player was Final Fight and I’d love to see that come back someday. You know, sometimes I write up little concepts by myself but they don’t really get anywhere so you never know in the future.”

  • New Will Smith Movie Gemini Man Is A Flop, Will Lose $75 Million – Report

The new Will Smith action movie Gemini Man is expected to lose many millions of dollars. According The Hollywood Reporter, Gemini Man could lose $75 million or more following a slow start at the box office.

Gemini Man only made $20.5 million million in the US and Canada over its October 11-13 opening weekend. Worldwide, it’s made $118.7 million thus far. That is a lot of money, but the film had a reported production budget of $138 million in addition to $100 million or more in marketing costs.

The good news, if it can be called that, is that Gemini Man’s expected losses will be spread throughout at least four different companies. The movie was financed by Skydance Media, Paramount Pictures, Fosun, and Alibaba. Paramount and Skydance funded 35 percent each, with the China-based Fosun and Alibaba making up the remaining 30 percent (25 percent from Fosun and 5 percent from Alibaba, according to THR’s sources).

As THR notes, Paramount’s losses on the project will be mitigated by the fee it gets as the movie’s distributor. Fosun is distributing Gemini Man in China.

Gemini Man didn’t score the highest reviews from critics, though it was praised by some for its technical work with the digital de-aging of Will Smith and its very high 120 FPS frame rate. In the movie, Smith plays a hitman whose younger clone is out to kill him.

The movie was directed by Oscar winner Ang Lee, who previously made Hulk (2003), Brokeback Mountain (2005), and Life of Pi (2012).

  • Early Copies Of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Have Begun Appearing In The Wild, Watch Out For Spoilers

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare isn’t slated for release until October 25 (or late in the day on October 24, depending on where you live), but ahead of that, it seems early copies of the game are beginning to appear in the wild. The game’s physical edition for PS4 and Xbox One are printed on discs, and those discs have to make it to retailers in time for launch.

Given the size and scale of a Call of Duty release, it’s expected that some discs would get into players’ hands ahead of time, and that is exactly what seems to have happened this week.

Reports on social media reveal that copies of Modern Warfare’s PS4 edition have gone out early for some reason. What this means for Call of Duty fans is that it’s a good time to be extra careful online to avoid spoilers, if that matters to you.

It’s not clear how or why the early copies of Modern Warfare came out ahead of time. In 2011, two masked men armed with tear gas and knives hijacked a truck near Paris and fled with its cargo, which contained around 6,000 copies of Modern Warfare 3.

The new Modern Warfare, which is a reboot of sorts of the 2007 game, is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Recently, Activision talked about how progression will work and revealed a new Fortnite-style battle pass. Additionally, the company announced exactly when the game’s servers go live.

Thomas Jane in Full Trailer for LAPD Action Thriller Film ‘Crown Vic’

    Crown Vic Trailer

“I’m telling you, man, it’s a war out here. Going to be us against them.” Screen Media Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Crown Vic, which first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year. Written & directed by Joel Souza, the title is a reference to the cop car that most police drive around America – known as a “Crown Vic” because it’s a Ford Crown Victoria. This film tells the story of one memorable night in the life of LAPD officer Ray Mandel while hunting two cop killers on the loose. The two cops, one a rookie, must contend with a city about to boil over. Starring Thomas Jane and Luke Kleintank, with David Krumholtz, Bridget Moynahan, Gregg Bello, Scottie Thompson, and Josh Hopkins. Looks like a very intense, gritty film about how incredibly hard it is to work as cops in a big city. ›››

  • Random: This Is What a Storm Could Look Like on PS5

    Bring the rain.

There’s nothing better than a big storm to add plenty of foreboding atmosphere to a scene. Batman: Arkham Knight, for example, was set in a perpetually rainy sandbox – it was depressing, but it suited the miserable mood of Rocksteady’s game. How good could thunder and lightning look on PlayStation 5, then? Real good if this Unreal Engine 4 tech demo is anything to go by.

Despite looking like it would require a server farm to run, it’s actually being powered by a fairly modest graphics card in an NVidia GTX 970. So could we see these kind of effects on next-gen hardware? Well, you have to take into account that this is a fairly restricted demo – adding a storm like this to a modern open world title (with other characters, physics, and logic) would probably lead to compromises.

  • Feature: Burnout Needs to Bring Arcade Racers Back with a Bang

    We are the lazy generation.

Criterion Games made a name for itself with its blisteringly fast racing series, Burnout. Starting off as a small team with a small project, the original game was a modest but thrilling arcade racer all about rocketing your way through traffic. With each new game, Criterion added more and more to the experience, and with Burnout 3: Takedown, the franchise finally reached its full potential. A peerless arcade racing title, the third entry was published by EA, and saw the series balloon in popularity. Not only was Criterion able to reach a wider audience with this increased funding, it had created a bit of a monster.

The developer would go on to release a few more Burnout games with Revenge, Dominator, and Paradise. Fans all have a favourite title, but the core values remain the same across all of them: insane speed, gorgeously slick arcade handling, and devastating destruction. If it wasn’t clear, we love Burnout.

  • Insomniac’s Spider-Man Is Now A $1,100 Statue

    Insomniac’s Spider-Man Is Now A $1,100 Statue

Sideshow and PCS Collectibles have created the ultimate item for fans of the game. Standing in at 24-inches in height, the Spider-Man Advanced Suit statue can be yours for just $1,100. Sideshow is creating two different versions: an “exclusive” one that comes with a flexible web, and the “standard” edition that doesn’t have it.

Spider-Man is the focus, but the base he is leaping from holds the demonic imagery of Mister Negative, one of the foes he squared off against in the game. The Advanced Suit was created by Insomniac and has become one of the more popular looks for this iconic character, appearing on numerous comic book covers and collectibles since the game’s launch.

Sideshow estimates the statue will ship between January and March of 2021.
