  • Guerrilla Games’ Hermen Hulst Named Head Of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios

Guerrilla Games’ Hermen Hulst Named Head Of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios

Following the departure of chairman Shawn Layden, Sony has named Hermen Hulst, Guerrilla Games’ director and co-founder, as the new head of Worldwide Studios and will be tasked to oversee software development across Sony’s 14 internal game studios. Guerrilla promoted three people as co-studio directors: Michiel van der Leeuw, who was the technical director, Angie Smets, executive producer, and Jan-Bart van Beek, studio art director.

Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, who has long been an influential voice for Sony on social media, is leaving the position to shepherd smaller independent studios.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, PlayStation CEO and president Jim Ryan calls Hulst one of the most well-respected leaders in video games. “He is a passionate advocate for the teams he leads and understands how to empower creative talent to build great experiences,” he said. “I have no doubt Hermen can lead our teams to deliver compelling and diverse experiences at a steady cadence.”

  • Pokémon Masters Team Shares Its Update Plans For November And December

“We hope you look forward to it”.

You’d be forgiven for thinking Pokémon GO was the only Pokémon mobile game in existence after banking $3 billion, but there are actually a number of others available. One of these is DeNA’s free-to-play title, Pokémon Masters.

The game experienced a strong start, with players spending $26 million on the game – making it the best launch for any Pokémon mobile title since the release of GO. As fantastic as this was, not all of the player base was happy with the overall experience due to its bugs, lack of content and design choices.

  • Narrative Adventure Where the Water Tastes Like Wine Heads to PS4 This December

    Finally comes to consoles.

The story-based adventure title Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, which includes writing from various video game critics, is headed to PlayStation 4 on 2nd December. Described as “a game about wandering Depression-era America, collecting stories ranging from tales of terrifying ghost children to the legend of Pecos Bil”, it’s your job to share these stories with the people you meet.

Featuring the likes of Waypoint’s Austin Walker and Kotaku’s Gita Jackson, each person tells of their background, religion, and the events that have shaped their lives. It’s supposed to be a fairly good experience, with a Metacritic score of 74 to boast of upon its PC release, but the game is perhaps best known for its creator deeming the title a commercial flop. Speaking with Polygon, Johnnemann Nordhagen said: “The game has not performed as well as I had hoped or expected.” Let’s hope this PS4 release at least increases those sales somewhat.

  • The world’s cheapest computer costs a mere $20.99

Online retailer Gearbest is now selling the H96 Max, an Android mini PC that can also double as a thin client, for a mere $20.99 including free shipping from China to most countries.

That’s far less than even the cheapest Raspberry Pi device, and unlike the latter, it is a fully configured personal computer that can be used out of the box (assuming you have as spare keyboard, mouse and monitor or TV).

However the deal is only up for the next few days and limited in quantity, so you’ll need to be quick if you want to get your hands on one. You will need to use coupon code L3B4B68014E1D000 to get that price.

    • Running one of our best VPN on that Android box will expand its streaming capabilities
    • Use one of our best antivirus to improve its security and defend it from malware attacks
    • You can expand the storage capacity of this mini PC by choosing one of our best microSD cards.

    Bargain

The device itself is easy to use, with a low learning curve thanks to the preloaded Android 9.0 OS.

It comes with a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage and plenty of connectivity/expansion options: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio port, four three ports, an Ethernet port, a card reader and HDMI port that can (and does) deliver 4K content.

You even get a remote control and a HDMI cable thrown in for free, and the H96 Max can even hardware decode 4K content, making it perfect as a budget streaming client.

At 120 x 120 x 25mm, you will be able to conceal or move it around with ease as well. Since it is compatible with Google Play and offers internet access, you should be able to use it with all the main Android productivity services (G Suite, Office 365).
