It’s hard to hate Overwatch’s Lucio. No matter how many times he blasts you off a ledge or drops down unexpectedly from the side of a wall, he’s just too upbeat to get angry at.

By now, it’s become increasingly common knowledge that certain players like to race through video games to see who can complete them the fastest. A small niche of players even hold records for speedrunning MOBAs.

Want to geek out with Adam Savage and Peter Jackson? A video from Adam Savage’s website Tested has debuted that involves Savage stepping inside of Peter Jackson’s prop warehouse. Guillermo del Toro’s massive collection has been in the news the most recently with his exhibition at LACMA, but Jackson has a collection of props and movie items that might rival that one. Savage and Jackson spend most of their time in this video examining the HAL 9000 faceplate from 2001, but there’s other cool things hidden around. You can see one of the Ray Harryhausen skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts, and a Vogon from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, too. Jackson says he collects things from films that inspired him as a kid. ›››

“You never done nothin’ but hold me back, afraid I was gunna be better than you.” Paramount has revealed a second trailer for the film Fences, directed by and starring Denzel Washington, adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning play of the same name. This is one of the big awards films getting lots of good buzz. Washington starred in the Broadway version of the play, along with Viola Davis, and the two return for this cinematic version of this powerful story of a family in the 50s dealing with racial prejudice and poverty. Also stars Mykelti Williamson, Russell Hornsby, Saniyya Sidney, Stephen Henderson and Jovan Adepo. Following the release of its latest patches, Ubisoft’s online shooter The Division is riding high again, it seems. The publisher said in a statement to PCGamesN (via DualShockers) that the number of daily active players has returned to what the game had at launch, suggesting the recent patches were successful in drawing people back.
“Since the release of patch 1.4, we went back to the daily active users we had at launch, because people were [so impressed],” Ubisoft VP of live operations Anne Blondel said. People came back, she said, in part because of Ubisoft’s commitment to improving the game, even though that meant delaying its expansions (and the revenue associated with them).
“Some players left the game earlier than what we thought, then we had to make that tough call: do we keep providing them with extra content or do we stop everything for a while, settle down, fix everything, and then once the game is where it should be, then we start providing more content,” Blondel added. “And this is what we did [and] the community was super happy about it, even though they were disappointed at first that we were to push back the next DLC releases.”
Part of Ubisoft’s effort to improve The Division and its dialogue with fans was the launch of the game’s public test server, where players can test new features before they are rolled out publicly.
The Division’s latest paid expansion was Survival, which came out this month for Xbox One and PC, and lands on PS4 next month. The game’s final add-on is Last Stand, which arrives in 2017. Following the 1.4 patch was another major one, 1.5, which came out alongside Survival.
In other Ubisoft news, Blondel recently said the publisher “wouldn’t be the same” if Vivendi completes its hostile takeover bid of the Assassin’s Creed company.

[UPDATE] Lucasfilm has now officially released the trailer, which is titled “Trust.”
The original story is below.
We’ve had some new teasers for the upcoming Star Wars spinoff Rogue One over the past few weeks, and now another has arrived. This one was broadcast last night as part of Disney’s Magical Holiday Celebration on ABC, and comes via Fandango’s Movieclips Trailers. It contains some new footage–check it out above.
Earlier this week, the first estimates for Rogue One‘s opening weekend box office was reported. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the spinoff is projected to make $130 million or more for its first December 16-18 weekend in the US.
That would be the second-biggest December US opening in history, behind only 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That movie made $248 million for its domestic opening, which was a record. Another tracking service claimed Rogue One could come in near $150 million, while another put it in the $120 million range.
As THR notes, the weeks before Christmas are not historically big for the box office, and before The Force Awakens, no December release had made more than $85 million for its domestic opening–not even the highest-grossing movie in history, Avatar.
More Star Wars spinoffs are planned. A film about young Han Solo will come out in 2018, one year after Star Wars: Episode VIII lands in 2017, and there are also rumors of a Boba Fett standalone spinoff film.
Star Wars Battlefront is getting Rogue One-themed DLC before the movie’s premiere next month. It’s called Rogue One: Scarif and adds Jyn Erso and Director Orson Krennic as playable Hero characters.

Resident Evil 7: biohazard will support cross-saves between its Xbox One and PC versions. That means you can start playing on your Xbox One, then pick up where you left off on your PC.
Japanese site Dengeki first reported the feature, stating, “the Windows Store version can share play data with the Xbox One version.” IGN says the game’s publisher, Capcom, confirmed the cross-save feature in a statement.
Cross-save functionality is traditionally reserved for titles in Xbox One’s ‘Play Anywhere’ program–the Microsoft-led scheme where buying an Xbox One version of a game also bags you a PC copy. Neither Capcom nor Microsoft has yet confirmed Resident 7 as a Play Anywhere title. Play Anywhere has so far been limited to Xbox exclusive games.
Resident Evil 7 is also releasing on PS4, with both the Kitchen VR demo and the full game’s VR mode exclusive to PlayStation–for the first year, at least.
Capcom said in its latest earnings call that it expects Resident 7 to sell 4 million copies before April 2017, with a long tail anticipated beyond that.
The horror title recently had a $180 collector’s edition revealed, complete with an interactive Mansion Music Box model and severed finger USB stick. You can grab it when Resident Evil 7 launches, on January 24 2017.

You may recall 8Bit Music Power, the chip tune music album that was released on a Famicom cartridge earlier in 2016. The slightly bizarre (yet effortlessly cool) format made the album a bit of a niche item and probably turned many people off, seeing as you need either a Famicom or a Retron 5 (other Faminclones are available) to experience the tweeness locked inside the dimunitive plastic shell. You can find RetroCollect’s review of 8Bit Music Power here, and we thought that even with the relative inaccesibilty of the Famicom cartridge format, the overall package was very attractive for collectors of oddities and those with an interest in inventive uses of antiquated technology. Sounded pretty good, too.
The good news is that 8Bit Music Power is being re-released on a more traditional music CD in early 2017 and preorders are open now. Not only this, the new version also comes with a fully translated English language ‘magazine’ that gives information on the making of the tracks, interviews with the artists involved and features exclusive artwork relating to the album.

The original 8Bit Music Power package was a real treat for fans of both pixel art and chip tunes, and this new re-issue looks like it could be a big hit with fans of either who don’t happen to own the hardware required to play a Famicom cartridge. The fact that it’s all now in English is an added bonus. You can preorder the 8Bit Music Power CD and Magazine at Play-Asia.com following the link below.
