  • HDR Support Coming to Recore in 2017

Another Microsoft-published Xbox One game will be patched to support high-dynamic range, the company has confirmed. Xbox Studios GM Shannon Loftis dropped the news on Twitter last night. She also confirmed that the patch that adds HDR support for Xbox One S consoles will come out in 2017.

BTW – if you didn’t already guess: @ReCoreGame is getting the HDR treatment, too! It will look awesome on your new Christmas TV. #XboxOneS

    — Shannon Loftis (@shannonloftis) November 28, 2016

Xbox technical director Mike Ybarra backed this up with a tweet of his own, writing, “Recore with HDR? Yes, it’s coming.”

Recore won’t be the first Microsoft-published game with HDR support, as Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 already have it. You need an Xbox One S and a 4K-enabled TV to see the benefits of HDR, which include things like more vibrant and luminous colors.

Designed by Mega Man‘s Keiji Inafune, Recore launched in September at a budget price of $40. The game, which was the first in Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program, saw middle-of-the-road reviews. It is currently discounted to $20 at places like Amazon and other stores.

For more on Recore, check out GameSpot’s review and what other critics are saying.

  • New Star Wars: Rogue One TV Trailer Arrives, as Tickets Go on Sale

It’s a big day for Star Wars: Rogue One, as Lucasfilm has published a new TV spot for the sci-fi spinoff, while tickets are finally on sale. The latest video is titled ” Breath,” and contains a mixture of previously seen footage, as well as some new sequences. We also get a closer look at Darth Vader–take a look:

Advance tickets for Rogue One are now on sale through ticketing sites such as Fandango. The movie officially opens on Friday, December 16, with a midnight premiere kicking things off.

In other news about Rogue One, box office estimates peg the film at making $130 million or more for its December 16-18 opening weekend in the United States. That would be the second-biggest December US opening in history, behind only 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Rogue One was directed by Godzilla‘s Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen. The story focuses on a band of rebels, led by Jones’ Jyn Erso, who are attempting to steal the plans to the Death Star.

More spinoffs are planned, as a film about young Han Solo will come out in 2018, one year after Star Wars: Episode VIII lands in 2017. There are also rumors of a Boba Fett standalone spinoff film.

Star Wars Battlefront is getting Rogue One-themed DLC before the movie’s premiere next month. It’s called Rogue One: Scarif and adds Jyn Erso and Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic as playable Hero characters.

  • Pokemon Sun and Moon are Nintendo's Fastest-Selling Games Ever in UK

Pokemon Sun and Moon are Nintendo’s most successful game launch ever in the UK, according to Eurogamer.

Although they only came in at No.3 and 4 respectively, the pair sold double that of the previous two games in the series, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. They achieved higher figures in one day than Nintendo’s previous record holder, Wii Fit, did in two weeks.

It should be noted that combined sales of the two would have seen them take top spot off FIFA 17 in the UK physical charts for the week ending November 26, according to Chart-Track.

Sales were likely helped by this summer’s Pokemon Go craze, with over 25 million people playing the mobile game at its peak. Official figures have not been revealed for Pokemon Sun and Moon’s UK or US launch sales, though the pair reportedly sold nearly 2 million copies in its first three days in Japan alone.

In other sales news, the PS4 had its best selling week since launch in the UK last week, while Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was finally toppled from the No.1 spot of the software charts.

The Division’s 1.5 update will launch on PlayStation 4 on November 29, Ubisoft announced on Twitter. It will introduce a new World Tier bracket that increases the level, and difficulty, of enemies as well as introducing new gear to acquire.

Agents, Update 1.5 will be available on PS4 tomorrow!

    — The Division (@TheDivisionGame) November 28, 2016

      • Maximum Gear Score raised to 256.
      • Heroic Incursions are now available in Tier 5 only.

    • Tactical Advance: This talent will now provide a maximum of 30% damage increase.

The update is already available on Xbox One and PC and launched alongside the Survival expansion. New content for The Division has an exclusivity period to Microsoft platforms, but the Survival expansion is scheduled to launch on December 20 for PS4.

The Survival game mode tasks up to 24 players with fighting to survive against the elements and each other. It takes place in a modified version of The Division’s Manhattan, and matches can last up to two hours.

Ubisoft has said that, following the release of its latest patches, The Division’s daily active player numbers have returned to what it was at launch. It did not, however, reveal what these numbers are and what it is defining as the launch period.

  • PS4 Has Best-Selling Week Since Launch in UK

Sony’s PlayStation 4 had its best-selling week since launch in the UK last week, according to sales monitor Chart-Track.

Chart-Track and Sony have not provided any official sales figures, but GamesIndustry reports that PS4 hardware sales were up to over 140,000 units for the week ending November 26, citing sources. That’s over 50,000 higher than Xbox One‘s figures for the same week. Sales of both platforms were likely helped by a raft of retailer discounts on hardware bundles, bringing prices for a current-gen console down to under £200. Hardware sales may have been helped by the relatively recent release of the PS4 Pro, as well as the cheaper PS4 Slim and Xbox One S.

Black Friday discounts also had an effect on software. Games such as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and DriveClub were included in the aforementioned bundles and experienced a surge in sales.

The news is reassuring following disappointing launch sales for Watch Dogs 2, Dishonored 2, Titanfall 2, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which has now dropped to No.2. in the UK charts, falling behind FIFA 17.
