Play Conan Exiles Free with Xbox Live Gold This Weekend on Xbox One

Conan Exiles first released on Xbox One back in August 2017, then as an Xbox Game Preview title before releasing in May 2018. And just a few days ago we introduced the biggest update to the game since launch, introducing the new concept of taming and owning pets – plus a whole lot more.

Now we’re excited to finally give Xbox One players the chance to play Conan Exiles for free for a limited time. From 12:01 a.m. PDT on Thursday, October 18 to 11:59 p.m. PDT on Sunday, October 21, Xbox Live Gold members can download and play our open world survival game for free, and if you decide to make the plunge and buy it we’re also offering a hefty discount – up to 40% off from October 18 to October 21 . And should you return to Conan Exiles after the free weekend event, all your earned achievements and saved progress will be waiting for you.

Want to make the jump into our savage world? Here are some tips on how to survive in Conan Exiles and what you can expect in the brutal world of Conan the Barbarian!

When you start out, you will find that you have been banished to the Exiled Lands for crimes you may or may not have committed. If you wish to survive the harsh desert landscape and burning heat you must learn how to become a resourceful survivor.

    • At the very start of the game you should follow the road north. Behind the mountains you see a big river, where you can find water and food. You should pick up all the resources you can, as they can be used to craft clothing and tools.
    • Eggs from Shaleback nests offer a lot of nutrition but be careful of the big red males, as they attack on sight. As you play you will level up and grow stronger. You can increase your attributes like strength and agility and in addition you get feat points which can be used to learn new recipes for crafting.
    • You can fight enemies with simple tools but you should try and learn how to craft weapons early. Even if the swords and clubs you can make at first are made from stone they are still powerful enough to deal with most creatures by the river.
    • You will need a place to rest, store your resources, and seek shelter from the brutal sandstorms which sweep across the Exiled Lands. Gather enough stone and wood to build your first house. It does not need to be large, just big enough to fit a bedroll, a fire and some chests for storage.
    • The more you build, kill, craft and gather the more XP you will gain. The further north you travel the more powerful enemies you will face but you will also get access to better and better resources.

And this is just the beginning. The Exiled Lands are vast, from the burning deserts in the south, to the wet swamps in the east and the cold forests and mountains in the north. You can conquer them all and build great castles or even vast cities. Venture deep into dark dungeons, capture enemies and make them your pets or thralls, grow plants and keep bees, worship mighty gods and summon their avatars and build defenses against attacking NPCs who seek to purge invaders from their land.

We hope all Xbox Live Gold members have fun playing Conan Exiles for free on Xbox One for the next week. And don’t forget to take advantage of that great discount if you’d like to continue your adventures after the free play event concludes.

Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption Available Today on Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass

We started working on Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption because we wanted to make something for ourselves. We’d worked for bigger studios for years and with the rise of indie games around the world, we decided that we wanted to join the party and make our own indie game. Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption came about because of our love for the Dark Souls series and our desire to something smaller, tighter, and unique with the genre.

    Sinner Screenshot

    Sinner Screenshot

Unfortunately, as Chinese developers, we struggled to showcase, market, and build a community while developing Sinner. This was made even more difficult because we are Chinese speakers and our English isn’t great. Thankfully, we signed on with our publisher Another Indie who assisted with a lot of these things, allowing us to focus on the game and its development while they focused on marketing, showcasing, and social media.

    Sinner Screenshot

    Sinner Screenshot

As a team, we have always been fascinated by Western mythologies and religion, especially with the ideas of sin and redemption. We decided early on we wanted to make a game about the traditional “hero” archetype and his struggle with morality. As Sinner came into focus, the concept of the 7 Deadly Sins provided us with the game’s structure: Seven boss fights for seven sins. Perfection!

    Sinner Screenshot

    Sinner Screenshot

When balancing the game and its difficulty curve, it was the idea of sacrifice and redemption that came to the forefront. Our sacrifice system was a genuine epiphany and fit perfectly with the lore and style of the game. In Sinner the player must sacrifice their abilities and stats to face a boss. In Sinner you never get stronger, only weaker. This allowed us to make the game’s open approach as the game’s difficulty is based on how weak the player becomes. It’s thematically intriguing and allowed us to remove gates that may have blocked and frustrated players.

    Sinner Screenshot

    Sinner Screenshot

All of this has come together in an exciting way and we are incredibly proud of our accomplishments with Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption and we are honored to be a part of Xbox Games Pass and ecstatic to be a part of the Xbox One family!

You can buy Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption today on the Microsoft Store and is available now for all Xbox Game Pass members. With over 100 great games available for one low monthly price, including highly-anticipated new Xbox One exclusives the day they’re released, plus more games added all the time, Xbox Game Pass gives you the ultimate freedom to play.

  • A Guide to Weapon Specializations in Battlefield V

A Guide to Weapon Specializations in Battlefield V

The weapons of Battlefield V are powerful, deadly, and adjustable. You read that right; you can modify your primary weapons by using them in battle and spending the in-game currency you’ll earn by playing the game. Want more accuracy when you’re lining up your next target? How about a faster hipshot in the thick of battle? We call those kinds of modifications Specializations, and they give you a variety of ways to specialize each of your primary weapons to best suit your playstyle.

Specializations Are Not a One-Way Street

Modifying your weapons is more about the journey than the destination. Specializations aren’t necessarily an endpoint, though some players may treat them that way. You can always go back and try different setups and take on fresh challenges when your weapon is fully specialized.

    What About New Players?

Don’t worry if you’re coming into the game a little later; you’ve still got a good shot at both surviving and thriving in this system. There are four starter weapons (one per class) with Specializations already unlocked, though they will initially be on Rank 0. Use any of them on the front lines and at Rank 4 you can re-spec them however you want.

    Battlefield V EMD Spec Tree

    Battlefield V EMD Spec Tree

    Weapon Specializations in Action

Let’s walk you through an actual Specialization tree for a specific weapon, in this case, the EMP. This submachine gun is perfect for close-range combat and comes with eight different Specializations and eight Specialization tree paths. Each choice you make will have pros and cons, and choosing one means you don’t get the benefits of another. But, again, nothing’s written in stone, and when your weapon is fully specialized, you can always go back and make changes if you want to.

So, what are some of the options you have for the EMP? Here are the kinds of trade-offs you’ll need to make:

Specialization Path One Specialization Path Two
Slings and Swivels: Allows swapping to your EMP or sidearm faster. Don’t have time to reload? No problem. And you can shoot sooner after sprinting. Quick Aim: Zoom in faster when aiming down the sight. In a firefight, even a millisecond or two can make all the difference.
Enhanced Grips: Improves your base accuracy when firing without taking careful aim and gives you 33% better range. Custom Stock: Stay on target by reducing bullet spread by 33%.
Polished Action: Decreases your hip fire inaccuracy by about 40%. Great for those who like to shoot first and ask questions later. Lightened Stock: While aiming you can move 60% quicker. Makes shooting from behind cover or around a corner way faster.
Recoil Buffer: Diminishes vertical recoil by about 20% to keep your weapon steadier, so you end up hitting more than the scenery. Barrel Bedding: Reduces spread by 75% when aiming, letting you line up a headshot (or two).

It’s up to you if you want to go all-in on one Specialization path or sample some of both, as you work your way through the unlocks.

    Specializations are Just the Beginning

So, what happens when you’ve climbed your Specialization tree branch to the top and mastered your weapon? As we mentioned before, you can always re-spec to try new combinations. It’s a great way to challenge yourself and find other, different ways to achieve your Battlefield V goals.

In addition, you can also take on weapon-specific Special Assignments. These become available when the Specialization tree is completed. In-game challenges, Special Assignments help you unlock unique vanity items for that weapon. You can really go for the gold with these challenges.

Remember, Battlefield V is still in development and all game features may be subject to change. Battlefield V is now available for pre-order on the Microsoft Store. Stay tuned to Xbox Wire for the latest news and information for all things Xbox.

  • Learn About the Inspiration Behind The Jackbox Party Pack 5

Our team has been so excited to bring The Jackbox Party Pack 5 to Xbox One players. We feel that this Party Pack showcases the fun gameplay you’ve come to expect from us while throwing in some major surprises that we think you’ll love. We made it our goal to home in on the things that players (and streamers) would appreciate the most, while pushing the boundaries with new features, including a completely new style of game that we’ve never attempted before. We’ll let you decide for yourself, but we’ve already heard from fans, during our streams, and at conventions, that this is “the best pack yet.”

You Don’t Know Jack is our longest-running and probably most-loved series of games. It’s been four years since the last one because it was important to us to wait until we had a fresh take on the classic formula. You Don’t Know Jack: Full Stream sees the game (and long-time host Cookie Masterson) acquired by the mysterious media-streaming service, Binjpipe. It’s a big scenery change that allowed us to play with the game in really fun ways. We knew we had a structure and style from previous games that worked well. That left us free to take chances while building on that existing framework. The game has all the twisted trivia and snark you’d expect, along with new question types, new ways to screw other players, a bigger, crazier Jack Attack, and tons more.

The Jackbox Party Pack 5 Screenshot

The Jackbox Party Pack 5 Screenshot

We’ve always had a love for weird hypothetical questions, but just talking about them always felt more like an activity than an actual game. That is until we developed Split the Room. It’s easy to create a hypothetical scenario that gets a unanimous response; it’s more challenging and fun to create something that’s really divisive. In addition to the trippy ‘50s sci-fi TV aesthetic, players will love the ridiculous conversations the game prompts. You might think you know your friends well, but wait until you see the bizarre scenarios they come up with.

Mad Verse City is the result of our engineers experimenting with different technologies and bringing new features to the table. Two key additions came into play for Party Pack 5: a more robust audio system and the ability to utilize text-to-speech. We ran with this and turned it into Mad Verse City’s core concept while rooting the look and feel of the game in some dope ‘90s hip-hop and animation. What we love most about this game is that anything you submit in your rap verses can be funny. The absurdity of giant robots trying to verbalize the nonsense you type in is always hilarious. That said, there’s room to get seriously competitive at the game, if you’ve got the mad rap skills to back it up.

The Jackbox Party Pack 5 Screenshot

The Jackbox Party Pack 5 Screenshot

In Patently Stupid, we wanted to create a game about inventing ridiculous things. The crazier the better. We just needed a framework where the crazy made sense. Challenge accepted. When we thought about how people interact in a room or on a stream, and about how our games often involve voting, it inspired us to develop a game based on players creating inventions and then selling their ideas, using our own fake presentation tool. (Plus, we love Shark Tank.) Patently Stupid really leans into giving the player tons of creative freedom. It’s a game that’s limited only by your weird imagination.

Believe it or not, Zeeple Dome actually started out as a strategy game! During production, we were looking for a game that would force you to rely on and coordinate with your friends. What we found was that the best way to get people to communicate was to go all-in with a chaotic action game. We wanted to push our controller tech to places we’d never gone before. The resulting game is a hilarious mix of satisfying game-winning shots and situations where your friends accidentally fling themselves into you, propelling you into a game-losing explosion.

The Jackbox Party Pack 5 Screenshot

The Jackbox Party Pack 5 Screenshot

Overall, we were inspired to create a Party Pack that welcomes new players, while still remaining a distinctly Jackbox Games experience. Let us know what you think by sharing your thoughts on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. We hope you enjoy it!

The Queen of the Gods has arrived in Smite: Battleground of the Gods. Smite features over 90 playable Gods and Goddess from global mythology. Hera, Queen of the Gods, is an iconic character from Greek mythology and a long-requested addition to the Smite universe.

Hera has descended from her throne to restore order to the pantheons. Hera, Queen of the Gods, has watched the Gods’ wars and destruction from Mount Olympus, and it’s time for her to intervene.
