Announcing Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise Coming Soon to Xbox One

In Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise you play through the eyes of Agent A, a secret agent on a mission to infiltrate enemy spy Ruby La Rouge’s hideaway and put a stop to her evil plans. The stylish 1960s-inspired world is full of retro-futuristic contraptions, hidden gizmos, gadgets, and clever logic-based puzzles.

Notice something strange or out of place? Making mental notes and observations (like a good secret agent) will aid you in solving tricky puzzles later. As you explore Ruby’s secret hideout, collecting objects and using them cleverly is crucial in unlocking a trail of puzzles leading you ever closer to your target.

Designing the puzzles in Agent A was a huge part of the development challenge for Yak & Co., a 2-person studio based in Melbourne, Australia. Each of the five chapters took a whole year to create.

What made Agent A challenging to design was how intertwined everything is. Puzzles needed to make sense within the secret agent universe, story moments needed to tie in with the game design, and we wanted every hidden object to lead you back and forth through a web of puzzles towards your ultimate goal of finding and stopping Ruby.

We’re very excited to announce Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise will be available for console players on Xbox One soon. For the latest news, please visit our official site at agentagame.com.

  • Announcing Vigor 0.6 Update: Ally for Xbox One

Vigor is a new and exciting experience for both us as developers and you as players on Xbox One. Cooperating with the playerbase on improving the game before (and after) its release is one of the key tools which allow us to make the game better. The brand-new 0.6 Update: Ally is the first, larger result of the fruitful process of gathering feedback and reacting to it while the game is still in Xbox Game Preview.

    Rally Your Ally

In Vigor, you’re a nameless Outlander, alone in the unforgiving environment of post-war Norway. You try to survive encounters with other Outlanders, claim valuable resources, and rebuild your home, the shelter. We all know games are better with friends, so in the Ally update we’re making the first step towards a co-op experience — you’re now able to invite a friend to your team and join an encounter together.

    Vigor Screenshot

    Vigor Screenshot

You’ll enter the encounter area side by side, so you can easily cover each other while looking for resources, or even try to claim the valuable airdrop before other teams. As you’re now a team, you need to operate as one. It’s completely up to you which loot you take and which you leave for your partner—including the airdrop! From now on, you also must keep your gun discipline: your bullets are as deadly as any enemies for your team member.

Speaking of guns, there are 17 more in the update. From the lowly M7 Bayonet knife, through to the iconic Thompson submachine gun or A74-KSU assault rifle, to the SVU sniper rifle, there’s something for everyone. Naturally, as some of the new weapons are made for longer distances, we’re also adding scopes to some of them. Be wary, though, while you’re watching your prey through the optics of your rifle, another Outlander may be lining up their shot on you!

    Vigor Screenshot

    Vigor Screenshot

Since Vigor contains so many wonderful weapons, we also need them to be fun to play with. We received some, frankly said, negative feedback on weapon handling, so making this experience better is one of our top priorities. A lot has changed under the hood to allow us to introduce a lot of improvements. Weapon handling is significantly better, partially thanks to a decent aim assist, which lowers the controller sensitivity when you aim at another character. Precision of guns was improved to provide more reliable results and reward skillful handling. Recoil and sway are used to better distinguish one firearm from another. These improvements also come with fixes of various shooting-related bugs.

    Scavenging 2.0

Finding loot, rebuilding the shelter, and crafting are as much the core of Vigor as shooting, so it deserves some love, as well. We added a few more shelter improvements, changed the progression tree, and raised the level cap to 11. That also meant reevaluating the distribution of resources needed to build them; one of the important results is limiting “bottleneck” situations, when certain type of resource was needed, but hard to find in desired amounts. Improvements to some black magic systems behind loot also allowed us to increase the number of small, single-purpose loot containers and decrease the universal value of looting cars to get everything needed. In short, there is now more balance in the universe.

    Vigor Screenshot

    Vigor Screenshot

We also completely changed how acquiring and crafting weapons work. Originally, it was possible to craft weapons only for materials, when you had a blueprint, which could be acquired by deconstructing weapons into parts and collecting all of them. As a result, however, it was never beneficial to take a gun you could not craft yet into an encounter, since the risk of losing it was too high, as was the value of a potentially useful part. In 0.6, weapons can be deconstructed only into materials, and blueprints are found only in the airdrop. To simply craft a weapon for materials, you need not only its blueprint, but also an appropriate level of the crafting table shelter improvement.

It may seem harsh, but there’s also a new way to get weapons. Scattered in encounters, there are weapon parts. They are specific for each gun but getting a set amount of them is enough to craft the gun, regardless of your progression in the game. This way, you will always have some interesting equipment to play with—and some motivation for exploration, too! Weapon parts are specific for each encounter, so when a new map appears in the rotation, you’ll have new types of weapon parts to look for. We also changed the material compensation in case of death to reflect not only your loot, but also your loadout (i.e., including weapons, ammo, and consumables). Since you get more materials when you die during an encounter, you can jump well equipped into the next one more conveniently.

    Vigor Screenshot

    Vigor Screenshot

    Brave New World

As the main purpose of having Vigor in the Xbox Game Preview program is to gather feedback, we need to do a better job in explaining the game. The core mechanics are now covered in the tutorial and during the first visit to the shelter. Items now have rarities, so it’s now easier to identify what’s worth keeping, and what can be discarded. Which, by the way, can finally be done from the inventory at any time. New players can better understand the basics, and since we wipe the progress for everyone due to the significant looting, crafting, and progression changes, all players start on an equal footing.

Exploration is an important part of Vigor‘s gameplay, although encounters may have felt more like aimless wandering at times. We added many points of interest to level maps, which you can discover—and usually find some loot while doing so. In general, there’s a lot of various UI improvements and tweaks. For example, colors of various map markers (and the markers themselves!) were improved to more clearly communicate what they show; including useful tooltips. The colors are also set up with various forms of colorblindness in mind. While this adds more interesting feeling to encounters, one more addition contributes to this significantly: each level now has two different weather presets, so you can enjoy the beautiful environments of Vigor in much more variety.

    Vigor Screenshot

    Vigor Screenshot

The list of new additions and improvements is too long to mention everything here. Instead of doing so, I would like to thank you on behalf of the whole Vigor team for playing the game on Xbox One and giving us invaluable feedback. We listen closely and work hard on making Vigor into a unique, enjoyable experience you’ll fall in love with. Stay safe, Outlanders, and see you at the airdrop!

  • We’ve Got the Answers to Your Burning Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. Questions

With the launch of the highly anticipated Fallout 76 nearly upon us, the development team at Bethesda Game Studios has decided to open the doors to their vault early, in an effort to test their servers and squash some bugs of the non-radioactive variety. If you want to be one of those pushing Fallout 76 to its limits, the Break-It Early Test Application (or B.E.T.A., since no one’s better than Bethesda when it comes to acronyms) is the perfect place to get started. Kicking off today, the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. offers players the chance to explore the wasteland of West Virginia several weeks before the game’s official launch on November 14. We understand you might have some questions about the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A., so we’re going to do our best to answer them here.

When does the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A begin?

The Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. begins first on Xbox One on Tuesday, October 23.

How long can I play the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. for?

During the B.E.T.A. one of Bethesda’s primary goals is to stress test and break the game. As such, the servers will not be running 24/7; instead, they’ll be online during targeted timeframes.

On any given day the game might be up for anywhere between four to eight hours. Focusing as many players as we can into these windows is their prime objective. Then fix what they need to fix and do it again and again from the start of B.E.T.A. until a few days before launch.

Follow their official @Fallout and @bethesdastudios handles on Twitter as well as the Bethesda.net forums and the Bethesda.net Status Page to learn when servers will be online.

Who gets to take part in the B.E.T.A.?

The B.E.T.A. can only be accessed by players who pre-ordered Fallout 76 from participating retailers. If you didn’t pre-order, you’re out of luck. If you want to pre-order now to get into the B.E.T.A., head over to the Microsoft Store!

    If I pre-ordered Fallout 76, how do I get into the B.E.T.A.?

Console players who pre-ordered Fallout 76 digitally on console via the Microsoft Store will automatically be able to access the B.E.T.A. once it’s live on their respective platforms. You can search for “Fallout 76 beta” once it’s available on the Microsoft Store to download it.

If you pre-ordered Fallout 76 via participating physical or digital retailers, you will receive a code on or with your physical or digital receipt. if you play on console this code is not your actual B.E.T.A. code. To receive your B.E.T.A. code, please follow these steps:

    1. Create a free Bethesda.net account. If you already have an account, proceed to step two.
    2. Log into your account and redeem the code that came with your receipt to entitle your Bethesda.net account to the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A.
    3. Your B.E.T.A. code will be made available on this account page once the B.E.T.A. is live on your respective platform (October 23 for Xbox One)
    4. Redeem your B.E.T.A. code on your console to participate

Do I need Xbox Live Gold to play the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A.?

Yes, you do need a subscription to Xbox Live Gold if you want to play the B.E.T.A.

What about a Bethesda.net account? Will I need one of those to play the B.E.T.A?

You sure do! You can sign up for an account here, or sign up directly in the game from your Xbox One.

Storage space is at a premium on my Xbox One. How big is the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A.?

The B.E.T.A. will be approximately 45GB in size. Trust us, it’s worth deleting stuff to make room.

Will I need to download the full game again at launch if I’ve already downloaded the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A.?

Yes, you’ll need to download the game again on November 14, even if you downloaded and played the B.E.T.A.

Can I stream the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. once it’s live? Pretty please?

Yes, you can definitely stream the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A., take in-game screenshots, tell your friends, post on social media, or dress up as your created character for Halloween.

What should I do if I encounter a bug and want to tell the fine folks at Bethesda?

There are a number of places where you can provide feedback to the team, and they encourage you to do so as often as possible. You can share your feedback:

    On Twitter

    On Facebook

    On the Game’s Official Forums

Is the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. the full game? Where can I go? What can I do?

Yes, the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. includes the full game, meaning you can go anywhere you’d like and do anything you want. In fact, the folks at Bethesda encourage it!

Will the progress I make in the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. carry over to the full game when it releases on November 14? What about achievements?

Bethesda’s current plan is that the progress you make in the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. will carry over to the final game. However, any achievements you earn progress toward during the B.E.T.A. will not unlock until the final game releases on November 14.

We hope this answers any questions you’ve got regarding the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. See you in the wasteland, Vault Dwellers!

War Thunder Launches as Free to Play Title on Xbox One with Combat Helicopters

Back in June we started paid access for War Thunder on Xbox One, and those initial three months were incredibly helpful in preparing the game for free-to-play release. Now War Thunder is available for free on the Microsoft Store and we prepared a huge content update for this occasion.

    War Thunder Screenshot

    War Thunder Screenshot

The update’s codename is The Valkyries and it introduces combat helicopters into the game. These fearsome war machines first proved their combat effectiveness during the Vietnam War and today no military conflict goes without their involvement. The first nations to field the choppers in battle of War Thunder are USA and USSR, with such iconic rotorcraft as UH-1 Huey and Mi-24 Hind (you can purchase premium versions of both as DLC on the Microsoft Store). The other nations will get their share in future updates.

    War Thunder Screenshot

    War Thunder Screenshot

Since helicopters are the most modern type of military equipment to be found in War Thunder, you need to own at least one Rank 5 vehicle to start researching them, and they’ll be playable only in top rank matches alongside tanks of Cold War era such as newly added M1IP Abrams and T-80B. To really scratch that “Red Dawn” itch you didn’t realize you had all this time, we also introduced new combined battles map called American Desert. Its visage is based on real small towns of Arizona or Nevada from around 1960s time period and one of its coolest features is a functioning railroad track – be aware of the incoming freight train while driving around in your tank!

    War Thunder Screenshot

    War Thunder Screenshot

As for aerial combat, in addition to the new Vietnam map, we’re going to test pitting helicopters against planes in regular air battles and also dedicated choppers vs choppers game mode. This is where feedback from players will be invaluable. And other good news for Xbox One pilots is the addition of support for T.Flight Hotas One flightstick – now you can really fully immerse into the game while playing from the cockpit view.

    War Thunder Screenshot

Xbox One players also have unlimited access to the Naval Closed Beta which is undergoing in the events menu currently, and a slew of exclusive premium vehicles in the Microsoft Store. The latest addition is the Beginner’s Bundle which includes M3A1 light tank and decal of United States Marine Corps. We welcome all new players and wish them good luck on the battlefield!
