  • Jump in

Xbox fans might remember the phrase, ‘Jump in’ from years past, or as recently as June of this year at E3, when we reintroduced it to gamers around the world. And whether you’re Team Xbox for life, or new to the family, we’re excited to invite all gamers to Jump in with a refreshed global brand campaign and a sneak peek at our latest ad, launching today.

The campaign launches with four, unique films—Jumping, Friends, Racing and Everyone – that feature our community and our beloved game worlds and characters all converging together. It’s the ultimate celebration of fun through a shared love of gaming.

The true power of gaming is more than just bits and throughput – it’s about the fun of gaming and the amazing things our community can do together. Jump in shines a light on all of the different ways our community games; whether you are watching a live stream on Mixer, scouring the internet for tips, attending a con with your clan, making new friends from across the globe with Xbox Live, or beating your own high score – there is something for everyone in this expansive community.

Holding true to the roots of Jump in from years past, it reminds us that gaming is all about human energy, community, and fun.  It reminds us that we’re all born to play; that the very act of gaming is based on an intrinsic need. It’s how we learn, achieve and connect with others. Today, Jump in is an open invitation to all gamers and Xbox is committed to delivering more choice and to make gaming more accessible to more people with great games, new experiences, and more ways to play.

Right-here-and-now, gaming is better than ever, more thrilling than ever, more diverse and inclusive than ever, and we’re definitely having more fun than ever. With our biggest Xbox One holiday bundle lineup ever tied to the season’s hottest games – Fallout 76, Fortnite, and Forza Horizon 4 among others – a stellar games lineup that includes thousands of titles, or an expansive catalogue of games with Xbox Game Pass, there has never been a better time to Jump in with Xbox.

Please visit our official Xbox YouTube channel to view all of the Jump in campaign clips.

  • Xbox Game Pass: Dead Island: Riptide DE, Outlast, and More Arrive in Time for Halloween

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays here at Xbox Game Pass, it’s all about having some gourd honest skele-fun. This year we’re creepin’ it real and as part of our 2Spooky for Halloween event, we’re adding a bonus four games to your Xbox Game Pass catalog today. Getting this Halloween party startled will involve the apocalypse of Dead Island: Riptide DE, surviving the horror of Outlast, experiencing a digital plague in >observer_, and uncovering the horrific secrets in Hello Neighbor. If these games are your (blood) type, you’re all set for a Spooktacular (you can tell we’re having too much fun here) Halloween on Xbox Game Pass.

And don’t forget, you can lift your spirits with over 100 more great games on Xbox Game Pass – you’ll find them on the Game Pass tab on your home console. Keep it tuned to @XboxGamePass on Twitter and Instagram for upcoming news and titles joining Xbox Game Pass, too.

Let’s dive into the new games, coming to Xbox Game Pass, boo-day.

    Dead Island: Riptide DE

Are you ready to return to the Banoi Archipelago? Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition continues the story of the survivors from Dead Island as they fight to survive the zombie apocalypse. Having escaped from the ruins of Banoi, fate has jumped in to drag them back into the mire. Our Dead Island Riptide DEDefinitive Edition gives you access to all the content produced for Dead Island Riptide and features remastered graphics to bring the undead to life. (Not available in Germany)

    Outlast

The rules of survival within the walls of the remote Mount Massive asylum are very simple: run, hide, or die. The nearly forgotten home for the criminally insane was recently re-opened by the transnational Murkoff Corporation whose activities have been hidden away under a strict code of secrecy. Miles Upshur, an independent journalist, decides to investigate into an anonymous tip, but quickly finds himself swallowed up by the deranged horrors that have taken over the asylum. Outlast is a first-person survival horror game that takes you on a journey through a nightmare that you may never wake from.

    Hello Neighbor

Featuring an advanced AI that learns from your every move, Hello Neighbor puts you in the shoes of a curious resident who endeavors to figure out what horrible secrets their neighbor is hiding in the basement. With sandbox-style gameplay with plenty of environmental interaction and physics and a constantly evolving experience where the Neighbor’s AI counters your moves (and learns from what you do), this stealth horror game is sure to keep you on your toes.

    >observer_

At its heart, >observer_ is a game about technology, culture, and the horror that can result from the convergence of humanity and tech. What would you do if your fears were hacked? Taking place in a cyberpunk version of Poland in 2084 where robotics, augmentations, and screens litter the landscape, >observer_ puts players in the shoes of a detective who must invade his suspect’s minds to gather evidence, reliving their fears in order to discover the truth.

Starting today, the Xbox Insider Program is proud to offer an exclusive Avatar t-shirt to all Xbox Insiders who have reached Level 2 and above as a thank you for providing feedback and support throughout the years. This shirt is brand new in its digital format, but you may have seen the design in a previous post spotlighting our summer intern. We hope you’ll enjoy wearing it along with other cool Avatar accessories.

Additionally, congratulations to the Xbox Insiders who took part in early Xbox Avatar Editor flighting efforts and received the limited edition swag for doing so! In order to keep this item exclusive to flight participants, the previously announced Xbox Insider-specific Avatar t-shirt tied to the Xbox Avatar Editor flight is no longer available now that the Xbox Avatar Editor is available to all members of the Xbox community.

Thanks again for all you do, Xbox Insiders! Instructions for how to claim your shirt are posted on the r/XboxInsiders subreddit here: r/XboxInsiders. If you’ve never visited the r/XboxInsiders subreddit before, it’s an Insiders-helping-Insiders community of staff, volunteers, and Xbox Insider fans; we’d encourage you to stick around for the discussion, post a question or answer one, and tell us what you’d like to see more of in the Xbox Insider Program.

Starter Tips for SoulCalibur VI, Available Now on Xbox One

Welcome back to the Stage of History and prepare to take part in a story of souls and swords! SoulCalibur VI stands as the standard of 3-D weapon-based fighting and continues its long-standing tradition of iconic characters, including new ones, such as Geralt of Rivia as a special guest character. The formidable protagonist from The Witcher series joins our cast of the legendary fighters and is prepared to battle all those who stand in his way. However, before we get into battling with these brave warriors, lets train with our souls and learn the skills, movements, and what it takes to end the struggle between sword and soul!

    SoulCalibur VI Basic Tips

    SoulCalibur VI Basic Tips

    Movement

The key to mastering any fighting game is to first understand the movement of the characters. With the 8-way run system, SoulCalibur VI demonstrates itself as a true 3D fighter. Make use of the directional pad or analog stick to move across the ring with ease. A quick tap in any direction will perform a short step for precise movement, allowing for quick strikes or dodges. Holding a direction enables swift, continuous movement. Make use of these features to take a more defensive approach, or rush towards your foe with an all-out offensive of attacks.

    Basic Attacks

SoulCalbur VI has three basic attacks: Horizontal, Vertical, and Kick. Combining these attacks with directional inputs, jumping, dashing, crouching, and sidestepping, opens-up even more attack strings and combos. Spend time experimenting with different combinations of Low, Middle, and High attacks to unleash deadly combos.

    SoulCalibur VI Basic Tips

    SoulCalibur VI Basic Tips

    Guarding

It’s vital to keep up a good defense to avoid the opponent’s offensive attacks. Holding the Guard button allows you to block attacks, but you must pair this block by either standing or crouching.

There are three basic levels of attacks in SoulCalibur VI: Low, Middle, and High. Middle and High attacks can be blocked while standing, but this leaves you open to Low attacks, which can only be blocked while guarding in a crouch. However, this leaves you open to Middle attacks; High attacks will miss anyone that is crouching. So, when facing a skilled opponent, you must learn to anticipate when they will mix up their attacks so that you can block successfully and prepare for your counter-offensive.

Guard impacts are a unique move in SoulCalibur VI that allow you to repel an enemy attack and leave them open to a counter. You can execute a guard impact by pressing forward on directional pad and the A button. Just make sure that you time it correctly right when your enemy is beginning their attack!

    Training

SoulCalibur VI is equipped with a fully-featured Training mode for you to study the many fighting styles in store for you. Hop in anytime to perfect your timing, combos, and spacing! See you in the ring!

    SoulCalibur VI Screenshot

    SoulCalibur VI Screenshot

SoulCalibur VI fighting mechanics through and through will keep you immersed in the game for a long time to come. Whether it’s the mastery of the basic attacks or the new feature and intricacies of the guard impacts, honing these skills will be vital towards challenging all fearsome foes old and new. Now take the stage, utilize and leverage your edge in battle, and claim your place in history in SoulCalibur VI today!
