  • Stephen Dorff in First Trailer for Superhero Comedy 'American Hero'

Stephen Dorff in First Trailer for Superhero Comedy 'American Hero'

    American Hero Trailer

“Melvin is not like other people…” “What you’ve got is a gift.” Screen Media has unleashed a trailer for the dark comedy American Hero, about a guy who has telekinetic abilities, but doesn’t use them for much other than to fuel his addiction to drugs and alcohol. After barely surviving one day, he has a change of heart and realizes he has to fight back. Stephen Dorff plays the telekinetic, Melvin, and he seems like perfect casting for this kind of role. Though it’s hard not to mention how much this reminds me of that Will Smith movie Hancock, or James Gunn’s Super or even Chronicle a bit. This could actually be entertaining after all. ›››

A set of five new character posters have debuted online for Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams. The main five posters are for the main five characters – Han and Leia, played by Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, of course. Plus the new ones: John Boyega as Finn, Daisy Ridley as Rey, and Adam Driver (under mask) as Kylo Ren. First Look Photo from Derek Cianfrance's 'The Light Between Oceans'

    The Light Between Oceans

One of my favorite filmmakers working today is Derek Cianfrance, behind the films Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond the Pines. Cianfrance’s next feature is an adaptation of M.L. Stedman’s novel called The Light Between Oceans, about a lighthouse keeper and his wife living off the coast of Western Australia raising a baby they find. Alicia Vikander stars with Michael Fassbender as the married couple on the island, and the cast also includes Rachel Weisz, Emily Barclay and a few others. This first look photo of Vikander standing on a bluff over the ocean is a gorgeous photo and the only shot we’ve seen from this so far. This is a film I have been tracking closely and I’m already impatient to see, don’t even need any footage. ›››

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

“We have no jurisdiction in this country, we’re not even supposed to be here.” Pack some explosives and ammo, it’s time to move out. Paramount has debuted a full-length trailer for Michael Bay’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, the action-packed take on the Benghazi incident and the secret ex-military security team that goes in hoping to save American lives and return home safely. The ensemble cast includes: Pablo Schreiber, John Krasinski, Toby Stephens, David Denman, Max Martini, James Badge Dale, David Costabile, and Dominic Fumusa. This is most definitely a Michael Bay movie, with action reminiscent of Bad Boys in some scenes. I’m sort of curious to check it out, but barely. Lock ‘n load. ›››
