I Am Not A Serial Killer Trailer

“This is nowhere. It isn’t supposed to happen here…” A trailer has debuted online for an indie thriller called I Am Not A Serial Killer, starring young actor Max Records, who starred in Where the Wild Things Are a few years ago. Records, now a teenager, plays a kid in a small snowy town with his own homicidal tendencies, but discovers that an actual serial killer is in town and must track him down to stop him from killing more people. Christopher Lloyd plays the serial killer (not a spoiler but still), and he looks rather creepy. The cast includes Laura Fraser, Karl Geary, Bruce Bohne and Tim Russell. This trailer totally sold me. It has some fantastic cinematography, and the film looks like it’s from a completely different time. ›››

Must Watch: US Trailer for Dark Comedy 'In Order of Disappearance'

    In Order of Disappearance Trailer

“If Norwegian kids disappear, there’s always some obnoxious parents out looking for them.” Yes! Finally!! Magnolia has debuted the official US trailer for a Norwegian film called In Order of Disappearance, from director Hans Petter Moland. The film originally premiered two years ago, back in 2014, and is just now getting a US release. But that doesn’t matter because it’s a great film, a fantastic dark comedy about a quiet snow plow driver in Norway who decides to get revenge on the drug cartel that killed his son. Stellan Skarsgård stars and he’s so badass in this. The cast includes Bruno Ganz, Pål Sverre Hagen, Jakob Oftebro, and Kristofer Hivju. I saw this film at the Berlin Film Festival back in 2014 and it was one of my favorites of the festival, I highly recommend seeing it once it opens in the US. Until then, take a look below. ›››

  • Watch: Extended 4-Min Trailer for Illumination's Holiday Musical 'Sing'

Watch: Extended 4-Min Trailer for Illumination's Holiday Musical 'Sing'

    Sing Trailer

“If I had a voice in Meena’s, I’d be a superstar by now!” Universal has released a brand new extended 4-minute trailer for Illumination’s latest animated movie titled Sing, a musical about a singing competition hosted by an ambitious Koala named Buster Moon, voiced by Matthew McConaughey. This trailer has much of the same footage from the first trailer, but spends more time introducing the various characters who make it into the competition. Many of them are misfits and the movie seems to play up the idea that some of the best musicians are hidden in society and must be given the chance to express themselves. It could be enjoyable, lots of songs used in it. The cast includes Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly. Arrives in theaters Christmas week. ›››

First Trailer for Comedy 'Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life'

Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life

“Rules aren’t for everyone.” CBS Films has unveiled the first official trailer for the film Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life, an adaptation of the bestselling book series of the same name. Young actor Griffin Gluck stars as Rafe Katchadorian, a boy with a “wild imagination” bored of middle school who decides to break every rule and see what happens, bringing along his friends with him. The full cast includes Lauren Graham, Rob Riggle, Thomas Barbusca, Andy Daly and Adam Pally, and Efren Ramirez. This looks like it might be entertaining, I like the hand-drawn text they use throughout the trailer. Have fun. ›››

  • Mel Gibson Kicking Ass in New Trailer for Action Film 'Blood Father'

Mel Gibson Kicking Ass in New Trailer for Action Film 'Blood Father'

    Blood Father Trailer

“People get caught when they make mistakes… You stick with me, I’ll give you everything I got.” Lionsgate has premiered a new trailer for the gritty action thriller Blood Father, from French director Jean-François Richet (of the Assault on Precinct 13 remake, Mesrine Part 1 & Mesrine Part 2: Public Enemy #1), starring Mel Gibson as an ex-con badass who goes crazy trying to save his daughter, played by Erin Moriarty. The first trailer looked pretty good, this one is even better, almost like Taken meets John Wick set in the deep South. Hopefully the action is just as good as those films. Also starring William H. Macy, Thomas Mann, Elisabeth Röhm, Diego Luna & Dale Dickey. I might actually have to see this. Fire it up below. ›››

  • Amusing Short Film 'The Foley Artist' Shows the Importance of Sound

Amusing Short Film 'The Foley Artist' Shows the Importance of Sound

    The Foley Artist Short Film

“How to Sound Design Your Life.” This amusing video should cheer you up if you’re feeling a bit down. It’s a short film called The Foley Artist, and it shows how important sound design is with filmmaking. But it’s also a nice short film with a fun story all packed into one impressive 3-minute video, directed by Oliver Holmes. Foley artists are the individuals who actually create the sound for films, using various objects and techniques in order to make the audience believe they’re actually seeing what they’re seeing. It is an art in and of itself, and it’s fun to see the intercutting between the moments and the foley work in this film. Enjoy. ›››

    Edge of Winter Trailer

“I’m your father – it’s my job to protect you!” A new trailer has been revealed for the indie thriller Edge of Winter, about an estranged father who takes his two youngs son on a hunting trip into the woods in the middle of winter. Young actor Tom Holland (who plays Peter Parker / Spider-Man in Civil War and the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming) stars, along with Percy Hynes White, Joel Kinnaman, Rachelle Lefevre and Shiloh Fernandez. I’m not sure what to make of this film, it looks like it has some strong performances but I feel like I’m just going to get more and more fearful for the kids as the film plays out. ›››

Watch: First Trailer for Fraternity Drama 'Goat' Featuring Nick Jonas

    Goat Trailer

“Pledges gotta go through hell, otherwise what’s the point?” Paramount has debuted a trailer for the indie drama Goat, directed by Andrew Neel, about the hell young pledges must go through to join a fraternity in college. Ben Schnetzer stars as one of the new recruits at a fraternity called “Phi Sigma Mu”; this also stars Nick Jonas, James Franco, Danny Flaherty, Virginia Gardner, Austin Lyon. The film played at Sundance but received mostly mediocre reviews. It looks like the kind of bros-on-bros, overly-masculine, totally-messed-up film I love to hate. Not for me, I’ll be staying away. But anyone else intrigued, take a look. ›››

First Trailer for Wedding Comedy 'Table 19' Featuring Anna Kendrick

    Anna Kendrick

“What the hell are we doing back here?” Fox Searchlight has debuted a fun trailer for the wedding comedy Table 19, from the director of Rocket Science starring Anna Kendrick as a woman who gets seated at the dread Table 19 at a wedding after being dumped by the Best Man. As cheesy as that sounds, the script is by the Duplass Brothers and it’s directed by the guy who helped Kendrick first break out by casting her in the indie Rocket Science. The full cast includes Amanda Crew, Stephen Merchant, Lisa Kudrow, Wyatt Russell, Craig Robinson, Tony Revolori and June Squibb. This actually looks like it might be good. ›››

David Oyelowo & Dianne Wiest Star in 'Five Nights in Maine' Trailer

    Five Nights in Maine Trailer

“Why did you come here? Trying to see what she was hiding from?” FilmRise has released the first trailer for an indie drama called Five Nights in Maine, starring David Oyelowo and Dianne Wiest. Oyelowo plays a man struggling to cope with the tragic loss of his wife, who travels to rural Maine to meet his wife’s estranged mother, who is also struggling with grief and guilt. The full cast includes Rosie Perez, Teyonah Parris and Bill Raymond. This looks like a very emotional film that deals with some tough topics in a very raw, very powerful but earnest way. It has played at festivals all over and definitely seems worth seeing. ›››
