Official US Trailer for Natalie Portman's 'A Tale of Love and Darkness'

A Tale of Love and Darkness Trailer

“Your innocence will never abandon you…” Focus World has debuted a brand new official US trailer for Natalie Portman’s directorial debut, a drama called A Tale of Love and Darkness, set against the backdrop of the end of the British Mandate for Palestine and the early years of the State of Israel. Natalie Portman plays Fania Oz, the mother of Amos Oz, a person from real life who eventually becomes a writer, journalist, and advocate of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The film focuses mostly on his youth and his relationship with his mother. The cast includes Amir Tessler as the young Amos Oz, as well as Gilad Kahana, Ohad Knoller, Makram Khoury and Rotem Keinan. This looks powerful with some stunning cinematography by Slawomir Idziak (of Black Hawk Down, Gattaca). Have a look below. ›››

  • Japan's New 'Godzilla Resurgence' Will Hit US Theaters Late This Year

Japan's New 'Godzilla Resurgence' Will Hit US Theaters Late This Year

    Godzilla: Resurgence

Good news, Godzilla fans! The new Godzilla movie from Toho Company in Japan will actually be hitting US theaters this year as well. Godzilla Resurgence, or Shin Gojira as its known in Japan, opens in theaters over there starting July 29th – this month. Announced during Comic-Con, anime distributor Funimation has revealed that they will be releasing Shin Gojira in US theaters sometime in “late 2016”. The announcement was made on Funimation’s Twitter, but no exact date has been set yet, though we expect to see it sometime late in the fall around November or December. We just posted the latest full trailer for Godzilla Resurgence this week and I think it looks badass, hearkening back to the original man-in-suit films from the 1950s-60s. ›››

Watch: New US Trailer for Battle of Inchon Film 'Operation Chromite'

    Operation Chromite Trailer

“I am Douglas MacArthur – I win wars.” CJ Entertainment has debuted an official US trailer for the epic Korean war film Operation Chromite, telling the story of the Battle of Inchon during the Korean War in the 1950s. Liam Neeson stars as Douglas MacArthur, the US military General who lead the campaign to land in the city of Inchon and drive the invading North Korean forces out of South Korea. The full cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Jin Se-yun and Lee Beom-su. We featured a trailer for this earlier in the month, but it was a Korean trailer and showed a bit too much of the big battle scenes. This trailer is edited together much better and actually makes me want to see this film, even if there is only a tiny amount of Neeson in it. ›››

  • Review: 'Star Trek Beyond' Pushes Ahead in Typical But Fun Directions

Review: 'Star Trek Beyond' Pushes Ahead in Typical But Fun Directions

    Star Trek Beyond Review

After six complete series on television and twelve (!) feature films so far, it seems a rather difficult task for the Star Trek franchise to go where no one has gone before, boldly or not. There are only so many worlds in which the crew of the USS Enterprise can venture and only so many adventures they can undertake before it all starts to bleed together into a big, sci-fi mess. That’s not entirely the case with their latest excursion, though you certainly wouldn’t notice on paper. It plays like a one-off, run-of-the-mill story centering on Captain James T. Kirk and his crew, but Star Trek Beyond has something of an ace up its sleeve in the form of director Justin Lin (of Fast 5 and Furious 6 most recently). He keeps the mood light and the action consistent, and, though it’s nothing new, the film finds its way to boldly go towards goodhearted adventure. ›››

  • Full-Length Trailer for Baseball Drama 'Spaceman' with Josh Duhamel

Full-Length Trailer for Baseball Drama 'Spaceman' with Josh Duhamel

    Spaceman Trailer

“I ain’t ready to write my memoirs yet, I am ?” Filmbuff has unveiled the new full-length trailer for stoner baseball drama Spaceman, about the true story of baseball player Bill “Spaceman” Lee, who was a big-time advocate of marijuana. A very nicely-bearded Josh Duhamel plays Bill Lee, and the cast includes Ernie Hudson, W. Earl Brown, Sterling K. Brown, Carlos Leal, Peter Mackenzie and Emma Rose Maloney. The first teaser trailer for Spaceman didn’t show too much, but this trailer gives us much more to work with, and it seems like an amusing and entertaining tale of stoner-dom. Lee actually pitched in the two games during the 1975 World Series for the Red Sox. This seems like a perfect movie for a Sunday afternoon. ›››

Must Watch: One Final Hilarious Red Band Trailer for 'Sausage Party'

    Sausage Party Red Band

“As soon as your out those doors, the gods kill our ass-ages.” Sony has released one final red band trailer for Greg Tiernan & Conrad Vernon’s R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party, which premiered at SXSW and also played at Comic-Con this week. We’ve been featuring trailers and footage from this all summer, and thankfully it will be arriving in theaters in just a few weeks. The huge voice cast features Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Paul Rudd, James Franco, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Bill Hader, Danny McBride, David Krumholtz and others. Ethan Anderton wrote on Twitter after the Comic-Con screening that it’s “positively insane, raunchy to the max, and absolutely hilarious”. ›››

  • Second Trailer for Oliver Stone's 'Snowden' with Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Second Trailer for Oliver Stone's 'Snowden' with Joseph Gordon-Levitt

    Snowden Trailer

“What was it about this job that makes it more important than your life?” Open Road Films has debuted a new full-length trailer for Oliver Stone’s political thriller Snowden, profiling the life of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The trailer was also shown during the Comic-Con presentation in Hall H this week, where Oliver Stone also commented on Pokemon Go. Shailene Woodley co-stars as his girlfriend Lindsay, also featuring Nicolas Cage, Zachary Quinto, Timothy Olyphant, Melissa Leo as Citizenfour director Laura Poitras. I prefer the first trailer for this film, because this one really plays up the intensity and thrilling aspects of this film more than the story itself. I’m also not fond of the music they use in this, but I still really want to see it, just to check it out. Maybe it’s actually a good film. ›››

  • Official US Trailer for Crazy Epic Korean Zombie Film 'Train to Busan'

Official US Trailer for Crazy Epic Korean Zombie Film 'Train to Busan'

    Train to Busan Trailer

“This train can go no further.” Well Go USA has debuted an official trailer for the impending release of the epic Korean zombie film Train to Busan, which opens this week in US theaters. The film is one of the most expensive Korean productions to date, with some crazy VFX surrounding a zombie outbreak in Korea. A group of survivors attempt to take the last train from Seoul down to Busan, hoping they can escape the zombies, but of course they run into more problems along the way. The film stars Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok and Ahn So-hee. I saw this in Cannes and it’s fun but not the best zombie movie I’ve seen. The action is amusing and it reminded me of Snowpiercer, but with zombies and much cheesier. All aboard! ›››

  • New Trailer for Nightmare Thriller 'Before I Wake' with Kate Bosworth

New Trailer for Nightmare Thriller 'Before I Wake' with Kate Bosworth

    Before I Wake Trailer

“That little boys dreams come true… But his nightmares, they’re deadly.” Relativity Studios has released a brand new second trailer for the nightmare horror thriller Before I Wake, featuring Kate Bosworth, Jacob Tremblay (from Room), and Thomas Jane. Some may recall this film was originally supposed to be out last year, with an initial release date set for May of 2015, before the film got delayed indefinitely and rescheduled for this year due to Relativity’s bankruptcy. We featured a trailer last year but this new trailer is designed to sell the more horrific side of it. There are some cool moments in this trailer, especially the shot with the glowing butterflies, and the creepy shots near the end, but I’m not sure if the film will be any good. ›››

  • Watch: Fan-Made Trailer for Live-Action 'Futurama' Movie is Awkward

Watch: Fan-Made Trailer for Live-Action 'Futurama' Movie is Awkward

    Futurama Fan Film

I am a huge, huge fan of Futurama – it is perhaps my favorite animated series ever made. I never get to talk about it on FS because we don’t cover TV at all, but finally I get a chance to gush about it. Timed perfectly with Comic-Con this week is the release of a trailer for a live-action fan film version of Futurama, titled Fan-O-Rama. To save themselves from getting in trouble, this is a completely independently made fan film, made by fans for fans, with quite a small budget. As much as I want to love this, there’s something that just feels off about – I’m not sure if it’s the make-up or the cardboard robots or what, but it’s almost too awkward to seriously enjoy. And I’m saying this as a huge fan of Futurama. Maybe it’s just best as a cartoon. That said, this trailer is still worth watching anyway, just to get a sense of what they are going for. Have fun. ›››
