Second Trailer for Rob Zombie's Evil Carnival Game Horror Movie '31'

    31 Horror Movie

“Nightmarish on every level.” If you already hate carnivals, you might want to stay away from this. Saban Films has released a second trailer for Rob Zombie’s latest horror feature, titled 31, about an evil carnival, twisted game. Five carnival workers are kidnapped and held hostage in a “Hell-like” compound where they must survive for 12 hours against a gang of sadistic clowns to escape alive. Starring Sheri Moon Zombie (of course), Malcolm McDowell, Richard Brake, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Torsten Voges, Sandra Rosko, and Meg Foster. I can’t even tell what’s going on in half of this trailer, way too many close-ups and it’s over-edited. But if you dig Zombie’s messed up horror flicks, then have at it. ›››

Watch: Another Weird Trailer for Wacky Horror 'The Greasy Strangler'

    The Greasy Strangler Trailer

“Kiss my cheeks, cherry lips.” FilmRise has released a second trailer for the wacky horror film The Greasy Strangler, which premiered at Sundance this year to quite a bit of acclaim. The first teaser trailer for this was pretty messed up, focusing more on the gore and gross side of this film. This new trailer is packed full of sex and nudity, the kind you don’t want to see, but that’s what this film is all about. The surreal horror stars Michael St. Michaels as Big Ronnie, along with Sky Elobar as Big Brayden, plus Elizabeth De Razzo and Gil Gex. It’s about an aging disco enthusiast who turns into a creepy, grease-covered strangler at night. The other story twist revealed in this trailer is the brutal father-son rivalry for the same woman. Get greasy. ›››

  • First Trailer for James Franco's Steinbeck Adaptation 'In Dubious Battle'

First Trailer for James Franco's Steinbeck Adaptation 'In Dubious Battle'

    In Dubious Battle Trailer

“Now I have a chance to fight for something.” AMBI Group has debuted the first official trailer for James Franco’s adaptation of John Steinbeck’s acclaimed novel In Dubious Battle, about a group of workers on apple farms in the 1930s who rise up and strike against the landowners. James Franco directs and stars in the film, yet another Franco adaptation, along with Nat Wolff as Jim Nolan, a young recruit who joins the activist and helps organize the strike. The impressive ensemble cast includes Vincent D’Onofrio, Bryan Cranston, Ed Harris, Sam Shepard, Selena Gomez, Josh Hutcherson, Ashley Greene, John Savage and Zach Braff. This actually looks pretty damn inspiring, I have to admit, I’m intrigued. Check it. ›››

  • Legendary Actor / Comedian Gene Wilder Has Passed Away at Age 83

Legendary Actor / Comedian Gene Wilder Has Passed Away at Age 83

    Gene Wilder

“Thanks for stopping by Earth for a while.” -Olivia Wilde. Another legendary actor has passed away today. We’re sad to report the death of the one-and-only Gene Wilder, who died at the age of 83 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Wilder was nominated for two Oscars and two Golden Globes, but never won either, despite writing and starring in some of the most memorable and beloved films of all-time. He’s most known for playing Willy Wonka in the classic 1971 musical version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (one of my favorites), and he worked closely with Mel Brooks for years, starring in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein. This is another tough loss to entertainment, but he will be remembered fondly. ›››

Watch This: 'Chasing The Infinite Sky' – New 'Star Trek' Short Fan Film

Chasing The Infinite Sky Fan Film

“Albatross welcomes you. Prepare for docking.” Sometimes fans come up with tributes that rival the actual work, and this is a great example of that. This new Star Trek fan film, titled Chasing The Infinite Sky, was released at the end of July timed with the opening of Star Trek Beyond. Created by Albert Martinez entirely in his own spare time, with VFX co-created by Ricardo Elliott, the short is about Captain Storm piloting a new experimental ship called the U.S.S. Albatross. It focuses more on space travel than anything else, inspired by J.J. Abrams’ visuals, but it’s still seriously impressive and enjoyable to watch even if you’re not the biggest Trekkie. There isn’t much of a story but that doesn’t bother me because it’s so nice to look at. ›››

Find Out What Thor Was Up to During 'Civil War' in Comic-Con Video

    Thor Comic-Con Video

“So, I needed some ‘me’ time, and I came to Australia and that’s when I moved in with Daryl!” This is genius. Marvel Studios has officially released the hilarious video that first debuted in Hall H at Comic-Con this year showing what Thor was up to during Captain America: Civil War. If you saw that film, you may have noticed Thor was missing from action while things were getting crazy. To answer that question, they made this “The Office”-style video featuring Chris Hemsworth in character as Thor discussing his time hanging out with regular people down in Australia. He even meets up with Mark Ruffalo (aka Bruce Banner) at one point and tries to get in touch with Tony Stark via “electronic letter”. Gotta love this. Enjoy. ›››

  • Watch: Fantastic Fest Trailer for New Zealand Comedy Series 'Terry Teo'

Watch: Fantastic Fest Trailer for New Zealand Comedy Series 'Terry Teo'

    Terry Teo Trailer

“In 2016, danger has a new name.” We’re breaking our own rules to bring you a trailer for a TV series, but this deserves the attention. Terry Teo is a 2016 reboot of a vintage 80’s TV show from New Zealand, this version directed by the guy who made the film Housebound. The show stars Kahn Wes as the titular “Terry Teo”, a “savvy teenager” who uses his street smarts to solve crime. This looks way better than it sounds, and the humor is spot on. The other reason we’re featuring this is that it’s actually premiering (in the US) at one of our favorite festivals – Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX. If you’ve enjoyed any of films by Taika Waititi, then you need to take a look at this. The series is actually rated PG in New Zealand but it still looks like crazy fun. ›››

  • Travel Back to Japan in 1814 in US Trailer for Animated 'Miss Hokusai'

Travel Back to Japan in 1814 in US Trailer for Animated 'Miss Hokusai'

    Miss Hokusai Trailer

“That nutty old man is my father.” GKids has debuted a trailer for the animated film called Miss Hokusai, which opened in Japan in 2015 and played at numerous film festivals last year. The film is about the life and works of Japanese artist and ukiyo-e painter Katsushika Hokusai, also known as Tetsuzo, as seen from the eyes of his daughter, Katsushika O-Ei. You all know his work because Hokusai painted the very famous piece known as “The Great Wave off Kanagawa“. The voice cast includes Anne Watanabe as O-Ei, Yutaka Matsushige as Hokusai, plus Kumiko Asô, Gaku Hamada and Kengo Kôra. Not only is it cool to see a story about Hokusai, but it’s lovely to see it told from the perspective of his daughter, who was dedicated to making sure her father could produce this art. I love catching up with animated films like this. Take a look. ›››

    A Dog's Purpose Trailer

“If I can get you licking and loving, I have my purpose.” Aw, this looks adorable. Universal has debuted a trailer for the movie called A Dog’s Purpose, directed by Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallström (who also made the movie Hachi: A Dog’s Tale ). Told from a dog’s perspective, which is provided a voice by Josh Gad, the film does indeed attempt to show what a dog’s purpose is – especially in connection with humans. The family film also stars Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juilet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hall. There’s more than one dog and they all look so friendly. As a huge dog lover, I have to say, this plays right to my emotions. Bring on the doggie love, can’t wait to see this. ›››

Looking Back: The Unseen Gems of the 2016 Summer Movie Season

Unseen Gems of the 2016 Summer Movie Season

With the 2016 summer movie season all but officially over, plenty of movie bloggers/journalists have been quick to say this past summer has been rather lackluster for film. I would argue otherwise – while some of the blockbusters have crashed and burned at the box office, this past weekend Suicide Squad and Sausage Party still performed strong at the box office. Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War and Disney’s Pete’s Dragon were highlights of the summer as well. So why all the “doom & gloom”? That’s likely because most audiences never really gave some of the best films of summer 2016 a chance. There were quite a few hidden gems out there waiting to be seen, if you were brave enough to give them your time (and money). ›››
