  • New Deadpool 2 Poster Is A Hilarious '80s Movie Pastiche

New Deadpool 2 Poster Is A Hilarious '80s Movie Pastiche

In this age of generic trailers and bland movies posters, we should all be thankful for the team behind Deadpool and its upcoming sequel. Both movies featuring the unconventional superhero have had equally unconventional marketing campaigns, and the latest poster for Deadpool 2 is no different.

Previous posters and promos have taken the form of heartwarming magazine covers, bizarre painting classes, and videos encouraging fans to get tattoos. The new poster is different again–inspired by the classic ’80s movie Flashdance, it shows the Merc with a Mouth striking a silhouetted pose under a shower of golden bullets. Check it out below:

Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Josh Brolin as Cable, and Zazie Beetz as Domino, with Morena Baccarin, TJ Miller, and Brianna Hildebrand reprising their roles from the first movie. David Leitch (John Wick, Atomic Blonde) is directing, replacing Tim Miller, who reportedly clashed with Reynolds over the direction of the movie.

Deadpool 2 is released on May 18. It was originally set to hit theaters on June 1, but last month Fox moved it forward, in addition to shifting The New Mutants back 10 months to February 2019.

In related news, the troubled and much-delayed X-Men spin-off Gambit has now been removed entirely from the studio’s schedule. The movie lost director Gore Verbinski last month; he is the third director to quit the project over the past couple of years. The Channing Tatum-starring film was due to start production this year ahead of a June 2019 release, but it is now unknown if and when this will happen.

  • Suicide Squad Star Regrets Getting That Stupid “SKWAD” Tattoo

When Suicide Squad was in production in 2015, the cast and crew bonded by getting tattoos, many courtesy of Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie. The tattoos were all supposed to read “SKWAD,” but last year Robbie revealed that she made a spelling mistake on her first attempt. Now co-star Joel Kinnaman has revealed that he regrets getting the tattoo at all–and blames Will Smith for giving it to him.

Kinnaman appeared on Watch What Happens Live and explained that his tattoo artist wife Cleo Wattenström would have done a much better job. “That was a horrible idea,” he admitted, via MTV. “You know, don’t let a 47-year-old man without his reading glasses tattoo you. That is the life lesson. Especially when you have a very talented wife. It’s supposed to be a sh**ty tattoo, so that’s what it is.”

Here’s the image of Smith working his “magic” on Kinnaman, posted on Instagram by the actor in August 2015:

Kinnaman also revealed that he was now in training to reprise his role as Rick Flag in Suicide Squad 2. While the movie doesn’t yet have a confirmed release date, it is expected to start shooting later this year. Gavin O’Connor, who previously helmed the Ben Affleck hit The Accountant, will direct.

In November last year, there was a rumor that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might make his DC debut as anti-hero Black Adam in Suicide Squad 2. Sources for The Wrap stated that the movie’s plot will revolve around “members of Suicide Squad [who are] tasked with tracking down a weapon of mass destruction.” That weapon is apparenty Black Adam. Johnson himself teased a surprise introduction for the character earlier this year, when he told Fandango: “We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.”

In related news, DC’s Shazam is now in production. The movie arrives in April next year, and a synopsis was recently released.

  • DC's Shazam: Plot Revealed In New Synopsis

DC's Shazam: Plot Revealed In New Synopsis

As director David F. Sandberg revealed last week, DC’s superhero adventure Shazam is now in production. The movie stars Thor actor Zachary Levi in the title role, Asher Angel as his young alter ego Billy Batson, and Mark Strong as the evil Doctor Sivana. It’s set to hit theaters in April next year, and Warner has now released an official synopsis for the movie.

As Sandberg hinted last year, the synopsis confirms that the movie will have a more lighthearted tone than many of DC’s movies. As in the comic books, the story will focus on teenage Billy, who becomes an adult superhero by saying a single word.

The synopsis reads: “We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s case, by shouting out one word–SHAZAM!–this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult superhero Shazam, courtesy of an ancient wizard.

“Still a kid at heart–inside a ripped, godlike body–Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Doctor Thaddeus Sivana.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was previously announced in the role of Shazam’s nemesis Black Adam, but it was subsequently confirmed that he will not feature in Shazam. However, he is still set to appear in a spin-off movie.

Shazam first appeared in 1939, when he was known by the name Captain Marvel. The character was bought by DC in 1971, when he was renamed, due to Marvel’s ownership of the name Captain Marvel. A live action Shazam TV show was broadcast in the mid-’70s, while an animated show followed in 1981.

  • Rainbow Six Siege Is Free To Play For A Limited Time Next Weekend On PS4, Xbox One, And PC

Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege, the excellent team-based tactical shooter, will be free to play next weekend as part of a limited-time event. Everyone on PS4, Xbox One, and PC can play completely free from February 15 through February 20.

If you decide to buy the game after the free play weekend wraps up, you might be happy to know that all of your progress will carry forward. Another nice thing is that Siege is currently marked down on all platforms, so you won’t have to pay full price, either.

More details on Siege’s free play weekend can be found here on the game’s website.

In other Siege news, the game’s Year 3 Season 1 content, called Operation Chimera, will launch on PC starting on February 19 through the testing realm. It will later roll out to all players on all platforms on March 6. Additionally, the co-op mode Outbreak launches on Siege’s test server on February 20 before coming to all systems for a limited time from March 6 through April 3.

Ubisoft will announce more details on Operation Chimera and the Outbreak mode will be shared during Siege’s professional tournament later this month in Montreal. Also during this broadcast, Ubisoft will share more details on upcoming Operator characters.

Earlier this week, Ubisoft teased the new Operators coming to Siege and discussed some of what you can expect from the soon-to-launch Outbreak event.

According to Ubisoft, Siege has more than 25 million registered players, so, despite the game having launched back in December 2015, you should still be able to find people to play with.

  • Metal Gear Solid 5's Secret Cutscene Triggered Early, And Konami Doesn't Know Why

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s base-building multiplayer mode incentivizes players to build nuclear weapons. They are the most expensive development project in the game, and they provide a huge defensive boost to players’ bases–but they can also dismantle them and work toward total disarmament. But this week, although there are still a ton of nuclear weapons out there, the game’s secret nuclear disarmament cutscene was triggered–and Konami doesn’t know why.

In spite of the fact that players have significant reasons to pursue nukes, including deterrence and prestige, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima included a bit of motivation to urge them to destroy their stockpiles. He stated that if every player on a certain platform (PS4, Xbox One, or PC) were to dismantle their nukes, a special event would unlock in the game.

As you might expect, it’s very difficult to get thousands of players to coordinate toward a goal, and as of September 1, 2017, there were still over 9,800 nuclear weapons on the PC server. However, PC MGSV users discovered on February 2 that the cutscene had triggered prematurely.

Konami apparently still does not know what happened. Over the weekend, it took to Twitter to apologize for the mistake. “The nuclear disarmament event was triggered in the Steam version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on [February 2]… We are still investigating, but can confirm that the event was triggered while the nuke count hadn’t reached zero.”

Back before the game released, Hideo Kojima explained that he hoped to communicate his anti-nuclear weapons, pro-disarmament feelings through a means other than normal storytelling. “As it’s difficult to make player feel ‘anti-war, anti-nuke’ like a movie can do, what I’ve tried was to make something only game can do,” he wrote on Twitter. Much like disarmament plans in the real world, however, this one has gone awry–and not for the first time. The cutscene was found by dataminers essentially as soon as the game was released. You can see it in the embed above.

  • Madden 18's Super Bowl Prediction Got A Lot Wrong This Year

Sometimes, Madden’s annual Super Bowl prediction is eerily accurate. In 2015, it not only accurately predicted the final score of Super Bowl XLIX, but also that the Patriots would come from behind to beat the Seattle Seahawaks. It also predicted the receiver who would catch the winning TD and the exact type of pass play it would be. Scary stuff.

This year, however, Madden’s simulation was completely wrong in pretty much every major way. Madden’s simulation predicted that the New England Patriots would defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-20 in Super Bowl LII. In reality, the Eagles defeated the Pats to claim their first-ever title by a score of 41-33.

Madden’s sim said Patriots QB Tom Brady would win the Super Bowl MVP; he did not. The more deserving Eagles QB Nick Foles took home that award. Below are some other things that the Madden sim got wrong this year:

    • Madden Prediction: Eagles score first with a touchdown run by Jay Ajayi.
      • Reality: Eagles score first with a field goal.
    • Madden Prediction: Brady connects with Danny Amendola for a first-quarter touchdown.
      • Reality: Brady connected with Amendola eight times for 152 yards, but never for a touchdown.
    • Madden Prediction: Patriots score two touchdowns in the second quarter on passes to Rob Gronkowski and Brandin Cooks.
      • Reality: The Patriots scored zero touchdowns in the second quarter, and Cooks left the game with a terrible-looking head injury.
    • Madden Prediction: Brady threw an interception that led to an Alshon Jeffery touchdown.
      • Reality: Brady did not throw an interception in the game.
    • Madden Prediction: Chris Long, a former Patriot, recorded a sack on Brady.
      • Reality: Brady was sacked once, crucially, in the fourth quarter. Brandon Graham recorded the sack.
    • Madden Prediction: Eagles safety Malcolm Jennings stripped the ball from Patriots running back Dion Lewis, resulting in a turnover.
      • Reality: Lewis never fumbled the ball in the game.
    • Madden Prediction: The game ended with Foles heaving a hail mary to Jeffery, but Patriots DB Stefon Gilmore breaks it up to secure the Patriots win.
      • Reality: It was Brady who threw a desperate pass as time expired, hoping to give the Patriots the come-from-behind victory. The ball was tipped into the air in the endzone, giving Patriots fans hope for a moment, but it was not meant to be (for the Patriots).
    • Madden Prediction: Gronkowski leads all receivers with four catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.
      • Reality: Amendola led all receivers with eight catches for 152 yards and no touchdowns.
    • Madden Prediction: Ajayi led all rushers with 73 yards and a touchdown.
      • Reality: Former Patriot Legarrette Blount was the top rusher, picking up 90 yards on 14 carries.

  • Full Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer Is Here, And It's Fantastic

The full trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has arrived. Following the short teaser released during the Super Bowl last night, this new promo reveals plot details and some new characters alongside some amazing action and snappy dialogue. Check it out above.

The movie stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Emilia Clarke also star. It hits theaters on May 25, 2018.

Solo has had a bit of troubled production, with director Ron Howard taking over duties from Chris Miller and Phil Lord in June 2017. There have been rumors that Howard has reshot a lot more of the movie than initially expected, and at least one role had to be recast, with Paul Bettany replacing Michael K. Williams. Bettany himself commented in the issue, and said that Howard “reshot a lot more than was originally intended.”

Donald Glover, who plays Lando in the movie, last month stated that despite the lengthy production, little about the film altered after Howard came on board. “It didn’t really [change],” he said. “I think we were never faced with anything like that and [Howard] did a good job of coming in and didn’t want us to change what we were doing at all. He wanted us to be comfortable with our vision.”

  • Red Dead Redemption 2's Release Date Updated On PS4 And Xbox One

Red Dead Redemption 2's Release Date Updated On PS4 And Xbox One

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 will launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 26, 2018. The announcement was made on the official Rockstar Games blog where the company apologised for a delay. The game was originally due out during Spring 2018, following an earlier delay from fall 2017. According to Rockstar, this new delay affords the studio extra time to improve the game.

“We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26 2018,” it said. “We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.”

It continued: “We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks.” Alongside the release date announcement, a selection of new screenshots have also been released, which you can check out below.

As previously detailed, Red Dead Redemption 2 follows protagonist Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang “as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive.”

In May 2017, we got new screenshots showing off various environments, and prior to that, we got Redemption 2’s first trailer. More recently, in September 2017, Rockstar released a second Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer teasing the game’s story, combat, characters, and some notable moments from throughout.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to both PS4 and Xbox One; however there’s no word on a PC version as of yet. The first Red Dead Redemption has not been released on PC, but Rockstar’s last major release, Grand Theft Auto V, made its way to PC.

Interestingly, in December 2017, Grand Theft Auto V players discovered references to secret missions in an update that connects to Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar later sent GTA Online players an email in-game that provides a clue to help them pursue “rumors of a lost relic from the frontier.” Completing this mission awarded players with a Double-Action Revolver for use in Red Dead Redemption 2.

One of the big questions surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2 is how the huge success of GTA Online will factor into it. Although Rockstar hasn’t announced an online component to the game, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the studio’s parent company Take-Two, previously said to expect a “recurrent consumer spending” element to be included in most if not all of the company’s games going forward. He left the exact form this model will take ambiguous, however.

“We’ve said that we aim to have recurrent consumer spending options for every title that we put out at this company,” Zelnick said. “It may not always be an online model. It may not, probably won’t always be, a virtual currency model, but there’ll be some ability to engage on an ongoing basis with our titles after release across the board.”

  • The Funniest Commercials From Super Bowl LII

Even if you’re not a football fan, you can appreciate a good Super Bowl commercial. Companies pay upwards of $5 million dollars for a 30-second spot, so they try to do something special every year. Luckily, most of these companies have a good sense of humor, so people watching the final football game of the season were treated to some pretty hilarious commercials.

We’ve collected some of the funniest and most entertaining commercials from the evening and gathered them for your amusement here. One of the most bizarre commercials of the night came Dundee (seen above), which put together what was seemingly an ad for a new Crocodile Dundee movie. The commercial, starring Danny McBride and Chris Hemsworth, slowly reveals it’s not a spot for a new movie but simply an ad to visit Australia. The spot even featured a quick cameo from Crocodile Dundee himself, Paul Hogan.

    GuacWorld

Paul Hogan wasn’t the only cameo in a commercial from the evening. Chris Elliot, who you may remember from It’s Something About Mary and Cabin Boy, plays himself in a Biodome-esque situation where the inhabitants of a domed paradise riot when they learn they have no chips for their avocados.

    Bud Light Knight

In 2017, Bud Light debuted a new string of commercials taking place in the Medieval era and launching the new catchphrase “dilly dilly.” During this year’s Super Bowl, the company debuted the Bud Knight. It’s as ridiculous as you think it is.

    M&M Danny DeVito

For years, the animated M&M characters have been avoiding their doom via being eaten by humans. During the Super Bowl spot, Red M&M finds a lucky penny and wishes he was human. He morphs into Danny Devito, which helps put the horrifying M&M ads from earlier in the evening into perspective, which featured Devito swimming in chocolate.

    Doritos vs Mountain Dew

Doritos and Mountain Dew have delivered some bizarre commercials in the past, and surprisingly, this year’s entries aren’t the weirdest. The dual features Peter Dinklage lip-syncing to Busta Rhymes and Morgan Freeman lip-syncing to Missy Elliot.

    NFL Dirty Dancing

For some bizarre reason, the NFL had ads during the Super Bowl. The best of the bunch featured wide receiver Odel Beckham Jr and Eli Manning recreating the iconic dance from the movie Dirty Dancing.

    Alexa Loses Her Voice

One of the few standout commercials from the second half of the game was an Amazon commercial. In it, Alexa loses her voice and is replaced by the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Rebel Wilson, and more.

    It’s a Tide ad

The best commercials from this year’s Super Bowl came from Tide (please don’t eat the company’s pods). It featured David Harbour (Stranger Things) spoofing Super Bowl commercials that we’ve all seen in the past and saying, “It’s a Tide ad.” Spots randomly popped up again throughout the evening, and it became increasingly tough to spot a real ad over a Tide ad.
