  • New Predator Movie Teaser Is Coming Soon

Expectations are high for The Predator, the reboot of the classic sci-fi action franchise which is set to hit theaters in September. Very little from the movie has been revealed so far, but writer Fred Dekker has now confirmed that a teaser trailer will be with us very soon.

Dekker took to his Facebook page to explain that the movie was currently undergoing reshoots in Vancouver, as well as noting that the movie’s “body count is alarming.” Dekker followed his post with the words fans have been wanting to hear for some time: “And yes, a teaser trailer will be coming soon…” Check his post out below:

Last week it was announced that the movie was moving back from an August release to September 14. This is the second time it has shifted release date–it was originally set come out in February. The Predator is directed by Shane Black, who previously made Iron Man 3 and the cop comedy The Nice Guys. It stars Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, Key & Peele), Sterling K. Brown (The People v. OJ Simpson), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Thomas Jane (The Expanse), and Jacob Tremblay (Room).

Although no footage has been revealed yet, a promotional motion poster for the movie was spotted at a licensing expo in London in November. In addition, we’ve seen a similarly-themed poster, plus some behind-the-scenes images.

Specific story details are also under wraps for now, but in an interview last year, Jane did provide some hints as to movie’s plot. The actor explained that the film will focus on a group of “shellshocked” soldiers, who are arrested and are in the process of being transported to an army hospital. However, one of the soldiers is being targeted because he has seen the Predator ships come to earth.

“They’re going to take that bus, drive it down to a ditch and shoot us all just to get rid of this one guy,” Jane said. “But, of course, we take the bus over. We’re all like, ‘Let’s go kill these f***ing Predators ourselves!’ And we’re just crazy enough to believe that this guy really did see a UFO and there’s these aliens out there. So that’s kinda cool!”

Black himself acted in the original Predator from 1987, which starred Schwarzenegger and was directed by John McTiernan. To date there have been four further films, including the direct sequel Predator 2, two Alien vs. Predator movies, and 2010’s Robert Rodriguez-produced Predators.

  • Justice League Is Now Officially DC's Least Successful Film

Justice League Is Now Officially DC's Least Successful Film

When the Marvel movie The Avengers hit theaters in 2012, it was by far the most successful movie that the studio had released until that point. That was not surprising, given it gathered all the MCU’s biggest heroes together in one film. So there was initially every reason to expect that superhero rivals DC’s team-up, Justice League, would becomes its biggest movie too. But with the film’s theatrical run now over, it has ended up as the lowest grossing of all five movies in the DC cinematic universe so far.

Justice League finished its run with a worldwide gross of $657.9 million. While this would be a substantial amount for most movies, it is below even the second least successful movie in the DC universe, Man of Steel. That film grossed $668 million in 2012, from a lower budget–$225 million compared to Justice League‘s rumored $300 million. The middle three DC movies all made way beyond this: Suicide Squad grossed $746.8 million, Wonder Woman $821.8 million, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice $876.3 million.

Justice League was beset with issues both before and during production. While Batman v Superman still stands as the biggest DC movie so far, it was met with an extremely negative reaction from both critics and fans (as was Suicide Squad). Despite assurances from DC Films head Geoff Johns that Justice League would be a more “hopeful and optimistic” movie, it started shooting only a few weeks after those Batman v Superman reviews, leading to speculation that the tone of the film would have to be changed during production.

Snyder quit the movie in May 2017 following a family tragedy, with Avengers director Joss Whedon taking over. Extensive reshoots took place, which actor Joe Morton confirmed were to lighten the tone. In addition, the movie became notorious for the issue of Superman actor Henry Cavill’s mustache, which he had grown for his role in this summer’s Mission Impossible: Fallout. With Mission Impossible producers Paramount refusing to let Cavill shave for the reshoots, Justice League‘s visual effects team were forced to remove the ‘tache digitally.

Despite Justice League‘s box office failure, there are still several more DC movies on the way. James Wan’s Aquaman is is due in November this year, while Shazam is currently in production ahead of its April 2019 release. Wonder Woman 2 hits theaters in December 2019, and Suicide Squad 2 is expected to start shooting later this year.

  • Latest Sicario 2 Trailer Is Bleak, Bloody, And Exciting

2015’s Sicario was one of the best thrillers of recent years, and it led to director Denis Villeneuve making the high profile sci-fi movies Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. The sequel Sicario: Day of the Soldado hits theaters in June, and although Villeneuve and star Emily Blunt aren’t returning, co-stars Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro are back.

A new trailer has arrived, following December’s first promo. It reveals plenty of the plot–perhaps too much, so be careful if you don’t want anything spoilt beforehand. But it looks like another dark, tense, and exciting film, with Brolin’s morally ambiguous CIA agent starting a drug war in Mexico with the help of del Toro’s mysterious enforcer. Check it out below:

Sicario: Day of the Soldado is released on June 29. It is directed by Stefano Sollima, who is best known for the acclaimed Italian crime show Gomorrah. The cast also includes Isabela Moner (Transformers: The Last Knight), Catherine Keener (Get Out), Matthew Modine (Stranger Things), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Magnificent Seven), and Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice).

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, del Toro spoke about making the sequel with a different director. “Stefano had to come in [to a situation] where Josh and myself have played these characters before,” he said. “So he had to deal a little bit with of that. I think he did a really good job of allowing both Josh and myself to put ourselves on the table about the characters and how they would react in situations and all that stuff. So it was very inclusive that way.”

  • Fortnite Mobile Features Some Small Changes From PS4, Xbox One, And PC Versions

Fortnite Battle Royale on mobile is almost exactly the same game as on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. There will even be crossplay between the different platforms. However, there are still a few differences to Fortnite on phones that are meant to assist with playing on a smaller, portable device.

Specifically, the iOS version adds a few visual cues to allow you to play without headphones. Events that otherwise would be conveyed through sound–footsteps or the direction of gunfire, for example–show up in the HUD.

If a player is moving nearby, a white arc will show up a bit outside of your crosshairs in the direction of the movement. If gunfire is nearby, a red arc will point you in that direction. The game also displays an indicator pointing you to chests, if you’re in proximity to one.

The most obvious change is, of course, the lack of physical buttons; you move your character using on-screen controls. However, in spite of the virtual controls taking some time getting used to, Fortnite Battle Royale on iPhone is the full game, and it runs pretty well too. Be sure to check out gameplay of Fortnite running on iPhone in the embed above.

The game is live now and the first invites have been sent out; Android support will come in the next few months. In addition, it’ll support optional cross-play with other platforms. Meanwhile, a new 3.3 update has launched for the game which adds Battle Royale and Save the World content.

  • Bundle With Sea Of Thieves, Xbox One X, And Another Game Is On A Good Sale Right Now

Sea of Thieves is one of the most anticipated Xbox One exclusives of the year, and it comes out tomorrow. However, there’s already a pretty good deal going on for the game if you happen to be in the market for an Xbox One X: you can grab a console with Sea of Thieves and another game for just $460.

A current promotion on Ebay slashes the price of a bundle that includes an Xbox One X, a game code for Sea of Thieves, and a choice of either Ghost Recon: Wildlands or Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition. The Xbox One X still retails normally for $500, Sea of Thieves is $60, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Overwatch are still in the $40-60 range, so this is a fantastic deal.

To take advantage, go to this Ebay page and add the bundle to your cart. You’ll see the $460 price tag when you begin checking out. It’s worth noting, though, that this is a limited deal, and it’s unclear how many of these bundles will be sold. So if you’re interested, it’s worth taking advantage of it sooner rather than later.

This isn’t the only Sea of Thieves deal going on right now: Microsoft is also holding an official promotion that bundles an Xbox One X and a digital copy Sea of Thieves together for the console’s normal retail price of $500. You can also grab a 1 TB Xbox One S, an extra controller, 1 month subscriptions to Xbox Live and Game Pass, and Sea of Thieves for $300.

Sea of Thieves launches tomorrow, March 20, although servers are already up in some regions–read here to see when Sea of Thieves goes live where you live. If you are an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you’ll get access to the game for free on Xbox One and PC. • Dragon Ball FighterZ Broly And Bardock DLC Release Date Confirmed

Bandai Namco has announced Broly and Bardock, two DLC characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ, will be available on March 28. Alongside the additional combatants, there will also be the Comentators Voice Pack. Looking further ahead, the publisher has also detailed a free update arriving in spring 2018.

This free update will introduce Z-Unions competitions. Currently, players can join a Z-Union to show their love of a particular character and receive rewards for doing so. However, the update will add an element of competition between these groups. Bandai Namco hasn’t explained what form these competitions will take, but we’re guessing it will likely lean on the Dragon Ball manga and anime’s love of tournaments.

Broly and Bardock, meanwhile, are included in the FighterZ Pass which, over time, will deliver eight characters to owners. They can also be purchased individually, but Bandai Namco hasn’t confirmed how much they’ll cost as of yet.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. GameSpot critic Peter Brown awarded the title a 9/10 in our Dragon Ball FighterZ review and said, “Even if you think Dragon Ball is old hat, and even if you’re intimidated by fighting games, there’s a good chance you’ll be drawn into the explosive action and personalities that expertly evoke the anime’s infectious spirit.”

  • New Dragon Ball Fighting Game Revealed For Mobile

A new Dragon Ball fighting game has been announced for mobile devices. It’s called Dragon Ball Legends, and it’s coming to iOS and Android this year.

Legends features a combination of 3D fighting and card game systems. It also offers PvP; you can play against other players around the world in real-time, each bringing three characters to the fight.

Bandai Namco says the game’s controls have been customized for mobile, so rather than lengthy, complex combinations you see in console fighting games, Legends sees you tapping various cards at the bottom of the screen to execute attacks and string together combos. Tapping a yellow card, for example, will trigger a ranged attack, while red will activate a melee attack, and blue a special move.

Series stalwarts such as Goku, Piccolo, Frieza, and Nappa have been confirmed for Dragon Ball Legends, with more details expected very soon. For more on the game, check out Bandai Namco’s presentation from GDC above.

Let’s hope Legends is as good as the most recent Dragon Ball game. FighterZ came to PS4, Xbox One, and PC last year to critical acclaim. In our Dragon Ball FighterZ review, critic Peter Brown wrote: “FighterZ is complex and distinct enough to be enjoyed by fighting game competitors, but there’s no question that it’s been designed to tap into the hearts of Dragon Ball’s most dedicated fans, and no doubt those same qualities will win people over who’ve never given the series a chance. Where past games attempted to get there through huge character rosters and deliberately predictable trips down memory lane, FighterZ has bottled the essence of what makes the series’ characters, animation, and sense of humor so beloved and reconfigured it into something new: a Dragon Ball fighting game that can go toe-to-toe with the best of the genre.”

  • Day One Patch For Sea Of Thieves On Xbox And PC Is Not What You'd Expect

Sea of Thieves developer Rare is known for its sense of humor, and with its new game, it appears to be focusing more than ever on embracing its community. Those two things have come together to make for a special day one patch–which is not at all what you likely think.

It’s customary for games in this day and age to receive large updates on day one that add essential features or make big changes or fixes. Rare has decided to poke fun at that and leverage the fact that it has a game where eyepatches are en vogue. As pictured in the image below players can now acquire a Day One Patch–an eyepatch with the number 1 on it. It can be purchased for one gold from the General Clothing shop from now until March 29.

How’s this for a take on day one patches? Visit any clothing store in #SeaOfThieves before March 29th to pick up the “Day 1 Eye-Patch” for just 1 gold! https://t.co/HVSXZQaR5g pic.twitter.com/jxCjdeWdH9

    — Sea of Thieves (@SeaOfThieves) March 19, 2018

This is a callback to an early suggestion from Reddit user Jefabell, who recently proposed this exact idea. Rare doesn’t shy away from its inspiration either, as the item’s description reads, “A message in a bottle from Jolly Jefabell washed ashore. Eyepatch makers read it and said, ‘aye.’”

Sea of Thieves launches for Xbox One and PC on March 20; you can see when servers go online in our full rundown. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will receive full access to the game on launch day, while the game is being given away for free with Xbox One X purchases.

  • Fortnite Might Have Helped Kill Paragon, But It's Turned Into A $12 Million Gift For Other Devs

Fortnite Might Have Helped Kill Paragon, But It's Turned Into A $12 Million Gift For Other Devs

Epic Games announced earlier this year that it would close the doors on one of its ongoing projects, the third-person MOBA Paragon. Part of its rationale for doing so was trouble acquiring and retaining players, but the massive success of Fortnite‘s Battle Royale mode–which has required more of Epic’s resources–was also a contributing factor. With a move made today, the success of Fortnite and death of Paragon is suddenly great news for many developers.

In addition developing games of its own, Epic is the studio behind Unreal Engine, which is licensed by numerous companies to create their own games. As of today, Epic has decided to not let the work it did on Paragon go to waste. A “full array” of Paragon’s assets have now been released to all Unreal Engine 4 developers. Epic estimates the cost of building those assets–which include 20 “AAA-quality characters” and their skins, animations, visual effects, and dialogue, as well as environmental assets–at over $12 million, which is an eye-opening figure. And that’s now all in the hands of developers for free from the Unreal Engine Marketplace.

What this means is that UE4 developers can now freely grab those assets and put them to use in their own projects. In addition to what’s already available, Epic will also release even more Paragon assets that cost millions of dollars to produce. These will be released this spring and summer. More details for developers are available here.

    Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6

It’s an unusual move to see, as developers rarely give away assets even from unreleased projects. Just how developers choose to make use of these assets remains to be seen. You probably won’t suddenly see Paragon characters running around in Friday the 13th: The Game or other UE4 games, but the work Epic has already done may benefit other developers, particularly younger ones who can learn from it.

Paragon remains playable for the time being, but Epic is offering refunds for all purchases ever made in it. Paragon’s servers will shut down on April 26.
