  • New Witcher 3 Patch Coming ASAP to Address "All Major Issues"

CD Projekt Red is preparing a new patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to address “all major reported issues,” community manager Marcin Momot said on Twitter today.

Momot did not provide any further details on the specific issues that the patch will fix, but in a separate tweet, he confirmed it will address a problem where the camera fails to lock onto enemies. Additionally, people are reporting in The Witcher 3’s forums a number of problems, including freezing and missions failing to load. However, it’s unclear if the patch will address these problems.

We’re working on the next patch and hoping to have it out as soon as possible. Should address all major reported issues.

    — Marcin Momot (@Marcin360) June 6, 2016

The Witcher 3’s latest big patch came out last week, right before the game’s Blood and Wine expansion arrived on May 31. This patch fixed a problem where Geralt would fail to put his clothes back on after having sex, and a number of other problems not involving sex.

Blood and Wine, a substantial expansion that offers over 90 new quests and around 30 hours of gameplay, is the final add-on for The Witcher 3. You may not have to wait much longer to hear about what’s coming next from CD Projekt Red, however, as the developer recently teased that it may show a new game at E3 this month.

GameSpot’s Blood and Wine review scored it an 8/10.

“Perhaps we will join him in yet another adventure, but if Blood and Wine is the White Wolf’s final interactive appearance, he at least departs in style,” reviewer Kevin VanOrd said. “I’ll miss you, Geralt–your impossibly perfect hair, your mercenary disposition, your stoic approach to horrific crimes and unspeakable tragedies. If you and Roach must ride into the sunset, then I’m glad the time we spent together was so enthralling.”

  • This Pokemon Drum Cover Rocks

The opening theme music from Pokemon Red/Blue is one of the more memorable gaming tracks ever, but you’ve probably never heard it this way.

YouTube drummer Andrew Fleming today posted a drum cover of the iconic song. Not only does he totally nail the performance, the video has some cool, Pokemon-inspired imagery. Take a look:

This is not Fleming’s first gaming video. Before this, he rocked out to a killer version of the “Battle Theme” from 2001’s Final Fantasy X, while another 2016 video saw him perform a Sonic “Green Hill Zone” drum cover.

In 2015, he performed this awesome Destiny drum cover. You can watch all of Fleming’s videos on his AF Drums YouTube page.

Fleming isn’t the only person performing video game drum covers. This amazing video shows a drummer turning a Smash Bros. match into beautiful jazz.

2016 is the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon series. The Pokemon Company celebrated the milestone with a Super Bowl commercial and a Drew Barrymore party, among other things.

  • New International Ghostbusters Trailer Features Ghosts, Gags, and Gunk

Few classic comedies inspire such devotion as Ghostbusters, and in a few weeks we’ll find out if the remake of the paranormal favourite lives up to the standards of the 1984 original. In the meantime, the latest international trailer has landed, and it contains some new footage. Watch it below:

Ghostbusters is directed by Bridesmaid‘s Paul Feig, and stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. A number of actors from the original movie will also feature in cameos, including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Sigourney Weaver. It hits theaters on July 17.

Last week, Aykroyd revealed that he had already seen the film, and was full of praise. “Saw test screening of new movie,” he posted on Facebook. “Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first two films plus Bill Murray is in it!”

There have been numerous Ghostbusters video games over the years. The next of these are new console and mobile games from Activision coming out this summer.

The latest major Ghostbusters game was Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which came out in 2009 and featured the voices of original cast members. Aykroyd said at the time that it was “essentially the third movie.”

  • "Completely Reworked" Prey 2 and Unspecified Bethesda Remaster Could Be Announced at E3

"Completely Reworked" Prey 2 and Unspecified Bethesda Remaster Could Be Announced at E3

Bethesda will announce Prey 2 and a remaster project during its E3 2016 briefing this coming Sunday. This is according to industry insider Shinobi602, who appeared on the MrMattyPlays podcast recently to make the claim.

“I would expect a remaster of sorts for something,” he said. Shinobi did not share any further details on what game might be getting the remaster treatment, but rumors online claim it could be The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

He also revealed that Bethesda will also announce Prey 2 at the briefing, though it won’t be called that. Shinobi said the game has been “re-worked completely,” and that the game will be similar to System Shock, though he did not offer any further specifics.

In October 2014, Bethesda confirmed that Prey 2 was canceled. “It was a game we believed in, but we never felt that it got to where it needed to be,” the developer said at the time.

GameSpot has contacted Bethesda in an attempt to get more details. We’ll report back with anything we hear from the company about these rumors.

Bethesda’s E3 2016 briefing is slated for Sunday, June 12, starting at 7 PM PST. Keep checking back with GameSpot in the coming days for more on the show.

You will be able to watch the stream right here on GameSpot when it begins at 9 AM PT on Wednesday, June 8 (we’ll add the embed on Wednesday).

  • Overwatch: See Game of Thrones Stars Poke Fun at Conan O'Brien in Silly Outtakes Video

Some outtakes from Conan O’Brien’s recent Clueless Gamer segment on Overwatch were published today. In the silly video, Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey joke about what character O’Brien might play if he was in the hit HBO fantasy series.

Their verdict? O’Brien would be well suited for a “matronly wet nurse.” Take a look at the segment below.

If you missed the official Overwatch Clueless Gamer segment, you can watch it here. O’Brien, Dinklage, and Headey attempt to kill each other, with some rather amusing results.

In other news about Overwatch, SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk recently recommended the game to his 4.1 million Twitter followers.

Overwatch launched at the end of May for PC, PS4, and Xbox One behind a generally positive critical response. It became a quick success, attracting some 7 million players right out of the gate. This makes it “one of the most successful global game launches of all time,” Blizzard said.

For more on Overwatch, check out GameSpot’s review and what other critics are saying.

  • Rocket League Brings Trade-In System in Next Update, Player Trading Coming Later

Rocket League Brings Trade-In System in Next Update, Player Trading Coming Later

The next Rocket League update will introduce a Trade-in System as well as new Rare and Very Rare items. Psyonix announced the two new features in a blog post, in which it also revealed that it has a player-to-player trading feature coming at a later date.

Some players may have noticed they’re acquiring duplicates of certain items. It was unclear why this occurred, but soon players will be able to trade them in for items with a higher rarity. For example, when the June update hits, you can trade in five Uncommon items to receive one Rare–see the picture below for an example. You’ll be able to do this right from the “Manage Inventory” screen.

Painted and Certified items could become more valuable when player trading is implemented in the soccer-with-cars game. Developer Psyonix says that the Trade-In System is designed to let players get rid of items they don’t want, but some of these might be worth keeping for when you can trade with other players.

The June update also introduces new Rare and Very Rare items. Some of them are inspired by Psyonix’s “meta” theme, which will be announced later this week, while others will include rare decals and Boost trails.

Psyonix added that it has another big reveal about its June update later this week. It’s not clear if there will be more information than just the “‘meta’ theme,” so we’ve contacted Psyonix for comment. We will update this article if we hear back.

The June update also has Painted items, which are special versions of items that get assigned a specific color when you unlock them. Additionally, the update adds Certified items, which track specific stats like long goals and upgrade as you hit milestones.

In related news, Rocket League has now made more than $110 million, passing 5 million units sold on all platforms–these numbers don’t include copies downloaded from when the game was free on PS4 for PlayStation Plus subscribers in July 2015.

On top of that, Rocket League passed the 16 million player mark this past weekend, the developer announced on Twitter.

  • Star Wars Rogue One Reshoots To Be Assisted by Bourne Writer/Director – Report

Star Wars Rogue One Reshoots To Be Assisted by Bourne Writer/Director – Report

Last week it was revealed that Rogue One, the upcoming Star Was spinoff, would be undergoing several weeks of reshoots this summer. It has now been reported that director Gareth Edwards will be assisted by fellow filmmaker Tony Gilroy.

According to EW, Gilroy will work as both a writer and second-unit director on the movie. This will be Gilroy’s second collaboration with Edwards, following additional script work he did on the 2014 blockbuster Godzilla. Gilroy is best known for directing The Bourne Legacy and the George Clooney thriller Michael Clayton, as well as writing the first three Bourne movies.

Despite initial rumours that the Rogue One reshoots will be extensive and intended to lighten the tone of the movie, EW’s sources as Lucasfilm have stated that they have been planned for a long time, but were moved back from the spring to allow the filmmakers extra time to decide what new material was needed.

“The changes have everything to do with clarity and character development and all take place [as inserts] within scenes we’ve already shot,” the source explained. “It’s a lot of talking in cockpits.”

EW reports that the length of the reshoots–around five weeks–is in fact down to the complexity of working with a high-profile ensemble cast, many of whom are now working on other projects. “It is a complicated schedule trying to pull people in around other things they’re doing,” the source said. “And this cast is spread out all over the world.”

For nearly a year, both the filmmakers and cast have been promising that Rogue One will much more of “war movie” than previous films in the long-running franchise. The Lucasfilm source states that this is still the case, and the reshoots are not designed to lighten the tone. “The movie is very different than [The Force Awakens], and that’s intentional,” the source says. “It’s a war film.”

Rogue One is set before the original Star Wars, and focuses upon a group of mercenaries who are hired to capture the plans to the Death Star. It hits cinemas on December 16, and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen.

  • Rumored Destiny Expansion: Bungie Trademarks "Rise of Iron"

Rumored Destiny Expansion: Bungie Trademarks "Rise of Iron"

Bungie has filed a trademark application for “Rise of Iron,” which is the name of the rumored Destiny expansion we may hear more about this coming week.

IGN spotted the trademark, filed May 31 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. The trademark covers all manner of things, including video games of course, but also graphic novels, toys, and even Halloween costumes.

A recent leak suggested Destiny’s new expansion is called Rise of Iron and will include a new raid, as well as a new type of weapon (possibly some kind of hammer or axe). It will reportedly be larger than either of Destiny’s first two expansions, The Dark Below and House of Wolves.

Last week, Bungie announced it would hold a “Destiny Reveal Stream” on Thursday, June 9, at 10 AM PT. We’ll be learning “all about the next threat that you’ll confront as Guardians” during the stream, which will be happening on Bungie’s Twitch channel. It could be that Bungie reveals Rise of Iron during this event, though that is not confirmed.

Looking further out, Bungie is also working on a Destiny sequel for 2017, which was recently rebooted, according to a report.

Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest on the future of Destiny as it’s announced.
