  • The Walking Dead Season 7 Trailer Introduces King Ezekiel

A new trailer for season 7 of AMC’s The Walking Dead made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con, along with confirmation that the post-zombie apocalypse drama will be making its return on October 23.

The trailer introduces King Ezekiel, a new character that fans of The Walking Dead’s comic series will know well, who is played by actor Khary Payton.

However, the majority of the trailer is focused on Negan, the primary antagonist of season 6. Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t reveal who he killed-off at the end of the last season. You’ll have to wait a little longer for that question to be answered.

Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in the show, confirmed at the Walking Dead panel that the reveal would be made in the season 7 premiere. “It’s a really shitty start to the season,” for the characters, Lincoln said, as reported by Variety. Watch the trailer below.

In somewhat related news, season 3 of Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead series will premiere this year. At Comic-Com it revealed some new images and details about the new season, confirming players will control two different characters and be introduced to a familiar face.

One of the playable characters is series protagonist Clementine, who has aged a few years since Season 2. You’ll switch between her and new character Javier, but you won’t play as both of them in the “same frame of time.”

The Walking Dead Season 3 is set to premiere later this year on PS4, Xbox One ,PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, and mobile devices.

  • New South Park: The Fractured But Whole Video Reveals Where The Name Came From

Ubisoft has released a new behind-the-scenes development diary for South Park: The Fractured But Whole (heh heh, it just doesn’t get old). During the video, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker talk about the premise of the game, which takes place just a day after The Stick of Truth.

Along with this, developers from Ubisoft discuss the new features that have been added since the first game, and how animating a South Park game is far more difficult than it seems. Stay tuned until the very end and you’ll see why and how the name “Fractured But Whole” came about. Check out the trailer below.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole launches on December 6. It is getting a $190 version that comes with a remote-controlled “Coon Mobile.” It’s controlled by a free smartphone app (for iOS and Android) using Bluetooth. According to its description, it comes with a dozen lines voiced by “The Coon,” which is Cartman’s superhero alter ego in the game.

In addition to the standard and the Coon Mobile version of the game, there are three other options available. Two of these–the Gold edition and steelbook Gold edition–are similar, except one is exclusive to digital stores and one is a physical edition. The digital Gold edition ($90) includes the game, the season pass, some in-game costumes, and a bonus perk. The steelbook version ($100) includes all of the same stuff, plus some lithographic art prints and a steelbook case.

There’s also a Collector’s edition on the Uplay store, the main component of which is a six-inch figure of The Coon (Cartman’s superhero alter ego) to go along with the same costumes, perk, and art prints mentioned above. You can get this in either standard ($100) or Gold editions ($130), which is essentially deciding whether or not you want the season pass.

We learned at E3 last month The Fractured But Whole will allow players to control their sphincter while pooping with “total ass control.”

  • Injustice 2 Comic Series Announced, Writer Promises "Tears, Triumph, Tragic Twists"

Injustice 2 Comic Series Announced, Writer Promises "Tears, Triumph, Tragic Twists"

An Injustice 2 comic book series has been announced, and it will serve as a prequel to NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming fighting game sequel. The series was revealed at the Injustice 2 Comic-Con panel, where it was also confirmed Tom Taylor will be writing once again.

Taylor previously penned the critically acclaimed first series, which was a prequel for the first Injustice: Gods Among Us game.

“Having had such a big role in tearing apart the Injustice universe and its characters, I’m very excited for the opportunity to return and do it again,” Taylor said in a statement. “To be given so much freedom to play with the world’s greatest superheroes and supervillains every week is a dream, and I want to thank everyone at DC, WBIE and NetherRealm for their continued faith in me, editor Jim Chadwick, and our incredible team.”

As with the first Injustice series, the new comics will debut before the game’s launch in 2017. They will be released digitally every week.

“Our overarching goal is to tell one complete story between the comics and the games,” Taylor added. “In writing Injustice 2, there are a lot less ‘Gods Among Us’ than when we started our story, but I hope to join Batman and the world’s finest heroes in cleaning up the mess an evil Superman and his regime left behind.

“I hope to repair Earth and bring back hope… but this is Injustice. Prepare for tears, comedy, triumph, devastation, shocking tragic twists involving DC’s most beloved characters…and Harley Quinn stealing every scene she’s in.”

During the same panel, two new characters were revealed for the Injustice 2 video game: Blue Beetle and Wonder Woman. Other previously confirmed characters include Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Supergirl, and Gorilla Grodd. You can watch Blue Beetle and Wonder Woman in action in this new Injustice 2 gameplay trailer.

Injustice 2, a sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, is scheduled to come out in 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

  • Two New Sonic Games Announced, Seek to Recapture the Glory Days

Two New Sonic Games Announced, Seek to Recapture the Glory Days

Sega announced two new Sonic games at its San Diego Comic-Con party to celebrate the blue hedgehog’s 25th anniversary. The first game reimagines iconic levels from Sonic’s past, while the second is an untitled game that stars classic and modern versions of Sonic in a new adventure against Eggman.

Sonic Mania is a 2D platformer that features visuals and gameplay reminiscent of the classic Genesis games. It revamps zones and acts from Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic & Knuckles, in addition to introducing new ones into the fold. Players who attended the Sonic party had the opportunity to try it out for themselves.

The game is developed by Sega of America in collaboration with PagodaWest Games. Christian Whitehead and Simon Thomley, the people behind the remastered Sonic ports on mobile devices, are also helping with development. Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka says that we’ll learn more about the game later this year.

“Sonic Mania was born out of our fans’ love of the classic Sonic 2D platform games,” said Iizuka. “This type of collaboration is a first for Sega and we hope everyone will be both surprised and delighted by this title. Sonic Mania has been a passion project for the entire team and we look forward to sharing more details about it later this year. Having the game actually playable at the event itself tonight was testament to the dedication of the team behind it.”

Sonic Mania releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in spring 2017.

The second announcement was a new adventure helmed by the Sonic Team that features both classic and modern versions of Sonic, much like 2011’s Sonic Generations. No title has been revealed, but we do know that it’s coming holiday 2017 on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo NX.

On top of all this, Sega made two additional announcements. Mobile game Sonic Dash has passed 200 million downloads and will receive a special in-game event that adds the Green Hill Zone and Classic Sonic as a playable character. The event only lasts a week, but players can unlock both the classic level and character for use after the event. Its available on iOS, Android, Amazon, and Windows Phone devices.

The animated Sonic Boom series’ second season was also announced, and party attendees were given a sneak peak at what Season 2 has in store. We’ll learn more at a later date. The next Sonic Boom video game, Fire & Ice, is set to release September 27 exclusively on 3DS.

  • Ghost Rider Announced for Agents of SHIELD Season 4

Ghost Rider Announced for Agents of SHIELD Season 4

At the Agents of SHIELD panel at San Diego Comic-Con, there was a lot of reminiscing about the past three seasons. Some early auditions were shown along with a blooper reel. During he Q&A portion, the final question asked if new footage from the next season could be shown.

Since they just started filming yesterday, there wasn’t any new footage to show for Season 4. They did drop a big bomb on the panel at the end with a short teaser that revealed Ghost Rider’s presence.

    3098877-coar2hfwcaafxcy.jpg

    “Vengeance comes this fall.”

Prior to the panel, flaming chains were spotted in promo images around San Diego. Fans assumed these were for Hellfire. It made a little sense since he sided with Hive in Season 3. The question was: Why would he be such a big part of the image for the next season? There was some speculation that perhaps Ghost Rider would be in the show because of the chains. That made less sense since he doesn’t have a connection to SHIELD in the comics. It turns out that is what is happening.

Gabriel Luna (True Detective, Matador) will take on the role of Robbie Reyes in the next season.

    3098879-5792942fabba7.jpg

Robbie Reyes is not the original Ghost Rider. He’s the most current verison–a teen living in East LA who drove a flaming car instead of motorcycle when he came into contact with a supernatural spirit. Based on Luna’s age, there are obviously some changes being made to the character.

“Season 4 will unquestionably be the series’ biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into SHIELD, it’ll change everything.”

Here’s the first meeting of FitzSimmons in Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge’s screentest.

Chloe Bennet and Brett Dalton’s first screentest was also shown.

Here’s the gag reel from Season 3.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD returns on Tuesday, September 20, at 10 PM EST.

Update: Robbie Reyes’ car was just unveiled.

  • Free Demo for Resident Evil Spinoff Shooter Out Now, Here's How to Get It

Free Demo for Resident Evil Spinoff Shooter Out Now, Here's How to Get It

Curious about Resident Evil spinoff Umbrella Corps but not sure if you want to buy it? You’re in luck, as Capcom has released a limited-time demo for the game on the PlayStation 4.

The free demo arrived on the PlayStation Store today (download the 3.7 GB file here) and will be available until 11:59 PT on Saturday, July 23. You can play as much as you want for the 48 hours, but after that, you’ll need to buy the game, which sells for $30, to continue playing.

    3053992-umbrellacorps4.jpg

In a blog post, Capcom said the Umbrella Corps demo is “feature-rich,” containing the game’s online modes and maps. This includes the newly released free Spencer Mansion DLC.

Additionally, Capcom confirmed that existing Umbrella Corps owners and demo players will be grouped together. Umbrella Corps is also available on PC, but the free demo appears to be exclusive to PS4.

GameSpot’s Umbrella Corps review scored the game a 3. Critic Peter Brown said, “Its systems are either unreliable or illogical, and as a result, it feels almost impossible to get a foothold. The first time an enemy kills you when they should have been dead, you may shrug it off. When it happens the dozenth time, you’ll probably wonder why you’re playing Umbrella Corps at all. There’s ultimately no good excuse.”

Resident Evil 7 is also on the way, scheduled to launch in January 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A free demo for the game is available now on PS4.

  • Watch Pokemon Go-Playing Reporter Get Caught During State Dept. Briefing

Even reporters in Washington DC are playing Pokemon Go. During a State Department briefing on Thursday, spokesperson John Kirby called out a member of the press for playing the wildly popular game in the middle of a briefing on the fight against ISIS.

“You’re playing the Pokemon thing right there, aren’t you?” Kirby said in the middle of his comments about combating the terror group. The unidentified reporter responded, “I’m just keeping an eye on it.”

Kirby then launched back into his prepared remarks. When he was done, he came back to the reporter and said, “Did you catch one?” The man replied that he hadn’t, in part because “the signal’s not very good” in the State Department briefing room.

“I’m sorry about that,” Kirby said in response.

This is not the first event to be interrupted by Pokemon Go. Earlier this month, a news anchor walked through a weather broadcast while playing the game, though this may have been staged.

Seemingly everyone is playing Pokemon Go, while presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have also responded to the craze.

The game has led to some crazy stories, too. A man claims he was stabbed while playing Pokemon Go, but instead of going to the hospital right away, he stopped to pick up chips and beer. For more on Pokemon Go, check out our roundup of all the news about it.

  • Marvel's Daredevil Will Return for Third Season

With the likes of Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, The Punisher and a second season of Jessica Jones due over the next couple of years, it was unclear if the very first Marvel Netflix show would be back for a third season. Marvel has now confirmed on Twitter that Daredevil will return to the streaming service:

Next stop: Hell’s Kitchen. #Daredevil Season 3 is coming soon. #MarvelSDCChttps://t.co/hdSmN4mfMv

    — Marvel Entertainment (@Marvel) July 22, 2016

Although Daredevil has proved extremely popular, Netflix’s increasingly busy Marvel schedule hadn’t included a third outing for the blind superhero until now. As recently as last month, star Charlie Cox stated that he was unsure of the show’s future. “We don’t know if there’s going to be a season three,” he told the Independent. “I certainly don’t know.”

The news was also announced at the San Diego Comic-Con, where Netlix and Marvel have been showcasing several of their upcoming shows. The full trailer for the upcoming Luke Cage was revealed, alongside a teaser for Iron Fist and a brief look for The Defenders, which will see Daredevil, Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones team up.
