With Spider-Man: Homecoming currently in production, there has been plenty of casting news over the past few weeks. A first look at the movie was shown at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, alongside confirmation of the film’s big villain. An early teaser revealed that the wallcrawler would be facing the Vulture, who can also be seen in new concept art from the movie:
According to BMD, the footage that Marvel showed at Comic-Con focuses upon Peter Parker as he deals with everyday high school life while secretly working on his web fluid in science classes. The site states that the Vulture appears at the end of the short teaser.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first standalone Spidey movie from Marvel Studios, following a co-production deal with Sony Pictures. It stars Tom Holland as Peter, plus Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Bokeem Woodbine, Tony Revolori, and Tyne Daly.
The new price represents a $100 discount, and at GameStop the markdown also applies to the 1TB Xbox One, bringing the price down to $300. The last time we saw a major price drop for the Xbox One was back in March, with the console marked down to $300 during Microsoft’s Spring Sale.
The price drop follows on from recent reports that the PlayStation 4 was again the top-selling console in the US for the month of June, claiming the spot for the third month in a row. Overall, hardware sales in the US dropped a dramatic 42 percent year-over-year, from $313.1 million last June to $181.5 million this year.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic discussed its wildly popular mobile game at Comic-Con 2016 and showed the leaders for the game’s three competing teams.
During the Pokemon Go panel, which featured John Hanke, chief executive of Niantic, an image of the three new characters was shown, you can take a look at it below. Team Valor (best team) is led by Candela, Team Mystic has Blanche, and Team Instinct is headed-up by Spark.

This is the first time we’ve seen the characters, which until now have been represented by silhouettes in the game. Behold your glorious leaders.
During the panel, Hanke also discussed some of the other features Niantic is thinking about bringing to Pokemon Go. He stressed that he was not confirming these, only that they were under consideration. Among them is Pokemon Centers, which are used to heal and store monsters in the core games. It is unclear what function they’ll serve in Pokemon Go, however.
On the subject of trading, Hanke said Niantic needs for the Pokemon Go servers to stabilise before they can introduce the ability to swap monsters with other players.
Pokemon Go shows no sign of slowing down, despite analysts suggesting its popularity will taper off. The game launched in The Pokemon Company’s home country of Japan on July 20 and has a McDonald’s partnership.
[UPDATE] Nick Johnson has confirmed to GameSpot that he’s spent “a couple hundred dollars” on Pokemon Go so far. Additionally, he revealed that he’s partnering with Marriott Rewards to “journey around the world” and “capture the last remaining Pokemon that are only available in other regions.” The original story follows.
Pokemon Go has been out in the US for about two weeks now, and someone has already caught all the available Pokemon in the region. All that they have left to catch are region-specific creatures, the legendaries, and Ditto.
Nick Johnson spoke to Business Insider about his accomplishment, which he first showed off on the Pokemon Go subreddit. In total, Johnson caught 4,269 Pokemon, hatched 303 eggs, and walked 153 kilometers over the last two weeks. The Pokemon he has left to catch are Mr. Mime, which is exclusive to Europe; Kangaskhan, which can only be found in Australia and New Zealand; and Farfetch’d, which sticks to Asia. He also hasn’t caught Ditto, Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, Mewtwo, and Mew, as they are part of the initial 151 Pokemon but have not been added yet.
Johnson is the head of a startup and a published author, so he doesn’t have much time to play during the day. However, as soon as work was over, he would start looking for Pokemon around Brooklyn and Manhattan. Johnson tells Business Insider that these trips could last for up to eight hours, averaging eight miles a day, according to his iPhone’s Health app.
We’ve contacted Johnson to ask how much money he’s spent on the game. In his interview with Business Insider, he recommends that if you’re going to spend money, you should buy egg incubators and “some good walking shoes.”
You can read more about Johnson and his journey to catch all of the Pokemon over on Business Insider.
Ben Affleck’s Batman wasn’t the only version of the Caped Crusader to feature in a key trailer at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. A hilarious new promo for The Lego Batman Movie was revealed, in which the Dark Knight is forced to take responsibility for the young boy he has adopted. Check it out below:
The film is a spinoff from 2014’s hugely popular The Lego Movie. It is directed by Chris McKay, and produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who helmed that earlier film, as well as the Jump Street films, and the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo movie. Check out previous trailers for the film here and here.
Bruce Wayne is played once more by Arrested Development star Will Arnett. The film also features Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, and Mariah Carey as, er, the mayor of Gotham.
The Lego Batman Movie will be released on February 10, 2017. A sequel to The Lego Movie is also in production, but that won’t arrive until February 2019.
Announced back in March, the film tie-in to Square Enix’s upcoming Final Fantasy XV is on the verge of release. It’s out in Japan already, and the movie is coming to select theaters in the US on Auguest 19, but during a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con we both got a new trailer and learned when it will hit digital channels.
The newly revealed release dates are:
August 30 – Digital release date
October 4 – Blu-ray and DVD release date
Kingsglaive stars the likes of Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), and Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones). The story contains parallels with the game and will feature both new and crossover characters from the game.

The Comic-Con news continues to roll out, and at its panel Marvel has just revealed a big piece of information about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Kurt Russell is playing Ego the Living Planet.
At the panel, Marvel gave a lengthy presentation about the upcoming follow-up to Guardians of the Galaxy, and the company revealed, among other things, that Russell will be assuming the role of Ego. Unfortunately, the footage that Marvel showed off has yet to be released to the public, but we do know a little about what Russell’s character will be like in the film.
If you’re familiar with the Marvel universe, you’ll know that Ego the Living Planet is what his name suggests–a living planet. But he can also create and assume control of humanoid vessels, which is what he’s done in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
In addition to this, Ego the Living Planet is also somehow the father of the film’s main character, Star-Lord (AKA Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt). It’s not yet clear how that works.
