New Thor Movie Production Update Suggests There May Be More Hulk Than Banner

Only a few weeks after he announced his arrival on the set of Thor: Ragnarok, actor Mark Ruffalo has now finished work on the upcoming Marvel adventure. Ruffalo, who plays Hulk, posted an image on Instagram of director Taika Waititi and himself, taken on his “last day.” Check it out below:

Ruffalo wrote: “‘Waititi’ and ‘Ruffles’ on the set of #Thor3 last day. Had such a great good fun time making this movie. Thanks @taikawaititi @chrishemsworth , @tessamaethompson @marvel for the love and the laughs.”

It has been known for some time that Hulk will feature heavily in the third Thor movie. However, Ruffalo’s limited time on set indicates that he won’t be seen as his alter ego Bruce Banner nearly as much.

Earlier this year, Ruffalo revealed that the film would be a “buddy movie” between Hulk and Thor. “I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner,” he told Empire. “It is a universal road movie. It’s not where you’d think it will be, so it’s not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think.”

Last month, images were released from the production that revealed the gladiator armor that Hulk will wear in the film. This has reinforced speculation that Thor: Ragnarok will take some inspiration from Planet Hulk, a comic book series in which Hulk battled monsters on an alien planet.

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, while the impressive cast also includes the likes of Cate Blanchett, Karl Urban, and Jeff Goldblum. Blanchett is known to be playing a villainous character, while Goldblum will portray immortal games-playing Grandmaster.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.

  • Mario, Pokemon, Zelda NX Will Release Within Six Months of Launch – Report

Mario, Pokemon, Zelda NX Will Release Within Six Months of Launch – Report

In addition to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WIld, Nintendo will release a new Mario and Pokemon game for the NX within the six months after its launch, a new report has claimed.

Citing “sources close to Nintendo,” MCV reports that the platform holder is determined to get the NX off to a strong start. To do this, Nintendo plans to have it’s biggest first-party franchises available around launch.

It has been known for some time that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is expected to be available sometime in 2017 for both Wii U and NX. However, MCV says Game Freak “will bring Pokemon to the platform,” though it is unclear whether this is a brand new entry in the series or a port of Pokemon Sun/Moon, which launches this year for 3DS.

There will be a new Mario title, the site says, but there are no further details on this title. Nintendo has also reportedly secured third-party support from Sega, Square Enix, Ubisoft, Activision, and Warner Bros.

The site states its sources are the same ones that confirmed the NX will be a portable console that has detachable controllers. Although has yet be officially confirmed multiple reports have supported this rumor.

The NX was first officially revealed in March 2015 and, before his passing, company president Satoru Iwata called it a “brand new concept” for video game platforms.

Nintendo confirmed the NX’s global release date is in March 2017, but did not provide any more information. It indicated it is holding back on a premature reveal in order to protect a unique element of NX.

“In terms of NX, there’s an idea that we’re working on,” said Shigeru Miyamoto. “That’s why we can’t share anything at this point, and I don’t want to comment on the other companies. If it was just a matter of following advancements in technology, things would be coming out a lot quicker.”

  • Star Wars Rogue One Post-Production Being Led by Bourne Writer

Star Wars Rogue One Post-Production Being Led by Bourne Writer

In June, Bourne writer Tony Gilroy was brought on to assist with reshoots of upcoming Star Wars spinoff Rogue One. It has now been reported that Gilroy has remained on the film, and is playing a major part in its editing.

    3104637-untitled-1.jpg

According to The Hollywood Reporter, while director Gareth Edwards remains heavily involved, Gilroy “has been empowered to take the lead” in the post-production process. The site’s sources stress that the two filmmakers are working together, with Gilroy performing a similar role during the production of Edwards’ 2014 blockbuster Godzilla.

Gilroy is best known for directing The Bourne Legacy and the George Clooney thriller Michael Clayton, as well as writing the first three Bourne movies.

THR also states that the Rogue One reshoots have now been completed, and were designed to tackle a number of issues, including the film’s ending. Sources at Disney had previously denied that the reshoots were for anything major. In June, EW quoted one source, who stated: “The changes have everything to do with clarity and character development and all take place [as inserts] within scenes we’ve already shot.”

New footage from the upcoming film, which opens in December, was revealed at the recent San Diego Comic-Con. A new trailer was screened, but although this is yet to be released elsewhere, a short featurette and a new poster are available online. Check them out here.

Rogue One hits theaters on December 16, 2016. It stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen.

  • Telltale's Batman PC Patch Released to Fix Crashes, Frame Rate Problems

Telltale Games has released a patch for its Batman series. The update is designed to address low frame rates issues, resolution problems, and crashes found in the PC version.

In a post on the Telltale Games website, the studio said these issues were being caused by integrated graphics cards.

“Investigations indicate that many of these issues appear to have been due to running the game on integrated graphics cards rather than dedicated,” it explained. “Or [they] were the result of out of date drivers. Special thanks to those in the community who have already helped others resolve these issues before a patch could go live.”

The patch notes can be found below:

    • Automatically defaults the game to run on dedicated graphics card
    • Adds graphics settings to enable selection of Higher Performance Textures or Higher Quality Textures (please select Higher Performance if performance is an issue)

Telltale has advised players to update their drivers before running the game.

Reports of the problem flooded the game’s Steam page, where players also discussed workarounds and their own fixes. These include disabling display scaling to resolve blurry, low-resolution graphics and downloading a certain file to avoid a DirectX error on Windows 7.

In GameSpot’s Batman: The Telltale Series Episode One review, the season premiere earned a score of 8/10.

“While many fixate on breaking the Batman, Telltale wants to bring down Bruce Wayne, and it demonstrates an understanding that people and relationships are the key to this,” I said. “Episode one begins the process of unravelling him, and sets the stage to lay him bare. Impressively, by sticking to its strengths, Telltale also delivers on the experience of being Batman. Realm of Shadows establishes a compelling Bruce Wayne narrative and is an exciting start to the series.”

  • EA's Battlefield 1 Sale Expectations Are Conservative

EA has discussed sales expectations for Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2, two of its biggest games of 2016. In its latest earnings report, chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen said it has projected Battlefield 1 sales to be “slightly under” what the franchise typically does in a year.

Despite this, EA is optimistic Battlefield 1 can exceed its projection: “Typically a Battlefield does 15 million in a year. Our guidance is slightly under that and we hope that excitement builds and it’ll go through that number, but for now it’s slightly under that number.”

The sales guidance EA has issues could be considered as conservative, considering the overwhelmingly positive reception Battlefield 1 has received since its debut. A week after the first trailer was released it became the most liked trailer of all time on YouTube. It currently has 43 million views. However, view counts for trailers aren’t necessarily indicators of future performance.

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2, meanwhile, will perform better than its predecessor, according to Jorgensen. This is in part because there are more people with current-gen consoles, but also because the game will launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The first game in the series was exclusive to Microsoft consoles and PC.

“[The first] Titanfall did a little more than seven million units last time. It was early in the cycle, one of the few titles out there. We think [Titanfall 2 will] do more than that, but it’s probably closer to 10 [million] than it is to 15, as built into our guidance. So 9-10 on Titanfall and just under 15 on Battlefield 1.”

Battlefield 1 has a confirmed release date of October 21. Titanfall 2’s release date is October 28, just a few days later. EA believes having both games launch alongside each other will strengthen its position in the shooter genre, instead of cannibalising the sales of both games.

“[Shooters are] a giant category in our industry, $4.5 billion, there’s a very broad and diverse set of players who are looking to fulfill different gameplay motivations,” chief executive Andrew Wilson previously said. “Some people play very quick play, some people play more strategic, some people want both in different context.

“We feel we have a really strong position to deliver the broader set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to the first-person shooter genre across two titles. I feel very confident that we are well positioned to do very well in that category in the year.”

At E3 2016, EA confirmed Titanfall 2 will have a full story-driven campaign.

“Titanfall 2’s single-player is crafted to dive deeper into the Titanfall universe, exploring the unique bonds between Pilot and Titan, and taking full advantage of the movement and combat, to deliver a feeling a feeling of being unstoppable together,” EA’s Devin Bennett said.

  • New Persona 5 Gameplay Video Shows Ryuji Going All-Out

Atlus has released a new, very short, gameplay video for Persona 5. This one is all about Ryuji Sakamoto. Like Kanji Tatsumi in Persona 4, he’s the team’s troublemaker.

Also like Kanji, it looks like Ryuji packs a big punch. In the video we get to see him stun an entire party of enemies. This lets the team execute their All-Out Attack, during which they rush their opponents down. Check it out below.

Atlus also previously released a Persona 5 video focused on Morgana, the talking cat.

Persona 5 was shown at E3 in June and, during the event, it was revealed that in-game activities include school quizzes, so prepare to have your knowledge tested yet again. We also got another look at Persona 5’s stunning menus.

Persona 5 launches in Japan this September, but won’t be out in North America until February 14, 2017. As of yet, it does not have a release European release date, but Atlus has signed a publishing deal with Deep Silver to bring the game to Europe.

  • Watch Sea of Thieves' Devs Explain What The Game Is

Rare has released the first in what looks to be a series of Sea of Thieves videos called “Inn-side Story.” The inaugural episode features executive producer Joe Neate and design director Gregg Mayles talking about what the game is.

“To me Sea of Thieves is basically every pirate show or film that you’ve seen, but you can actually play and be immersed in,” says Neate. “You can be the pirate you want. That’s the promise of the game for me.

“Living the pirate life is how I’d describe what we’re trying to achieve,” adds Mayles. “We want players to really immerse themselves into what it’s like to be a pirate. The sailing, the fighting, the drinking, the camaraderie, we want to give players all of that.”

The duo continue to discuss how gameplay is used to make players feel like they’re on an adventure with their friends. They also dig into how Sea of Thieves is different from an MMO, despite always being online and a multiplayer experience. Check out the video below.

Sea of Thieves will be releases for Xbox One and PC game. The Xbox Australia Twitter account previously indicated the game will launch in February 2017, however, the tweet was later removed. A Microsoft representative also made a statement that didn’t confirm or deny the reported February 2017 release window for Sea of Thieves.

“Our next goal beyond E3 is a closed beta where we’ll get some of our keenest fans involved in playing the game and providing feedback to the studio. We have nothing further to share at the moment but will have more details in the future.”

Sea of Thieves is an Xbox Play Anywhere game. That means if you buy it (digitally) on Xbox One, you will get the PC version for free and vice versa. Microsoft has also stated that this game is the best game that developer Rare has ever made.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Director says It Won't Connect With Infinity War

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Director says It Won't Connect With Infinity War

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe shares characters and storylines, some of the movies are definitely more self-contained than others. Such was the case of 2014’s intergalactic smash Guardians of the Galaxy, and now director James Gunn has revealed that the upcoming sequel will have even less to do with the other Earth-bound Marvel adventures.

    3104239-s6a9.jpg

During a Q&A on Facebook, Gunn was asked if fans could expect to see the Infinity Stones in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, given their links to the wider Marvel universe and the fact the villainous Thanos, who is after them, was introduced in the first movie. “There will be no Infinity Stones in Vol.2“, he confirmed. “There will be infinity nothing. It’s a story about the Guardians and isn’t meant to lead to anything else.”

This isn’t the first time that Gunn has stressed that the Guardians films, despite existing in the same universe, are standalone adventures. During another Facebook Q&A in February, he revealed that Thanos wouldn’t feature either. “Thanos isn’t in this movie. I think he’s gonna have a little bit to do and say when it comes to a certain wars and infinity,” he said, in reference to 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War. “We’ve got other fish to fry.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 wrapped production in June, and arrives in theaters on May 5, 2017. It stars Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, and Kurt Russell. Last month, new concept art revealed a new character, the super-powered Mantis.

A Season Pass for Final Fantasy 15 has been listed on the North American and Japanese PlayStation Stores, revealing details on the extra content that will be available for Square Enix’s RPG.

Although it hasn’t been revealed how much the DLCs cost individually, or even what they include, their names allow for some educating guesses. At least three of the DLCs seem to be story episodes based around Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto, three of the games main characters.

In addition to these there is a Booster Pack, a Holiday Pack, and an Expansion Pack. It is unclear what these are.

Take a look at the name of the Season Pass DLC below, as translated by Gematsu.

    • Booster Pack (DLC #1)
    • Episode Gladiolus (DLC #2)
    • Holiday Pack (DLC #3)
    • Episode Ignis (DLC #4)
    • Episode Prompto (DLC #5)
    • Expansion Pack (DLC #6)

The Season Pass is included in the Digital Premium Edition of Final Fantasy 15, which is available to preorder for $84.99 on the PlayStation Store. An upgrade option is also available as a “special deal” to those that have already preordered a digital version of the game. It is available initially listed for $24.99.

The Final Fantasy 15 release date has been confirmed as September 30, 2016. It will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, while Square Enix is “thinking about a PC version.” If the RPG does come to PC, fans should not expect this version to launch alongside the console editions in September, if it happens at all.
