  • Deadpool Director Exits Sequel Amid "Creative Differences" With Ryan Reynolds – Report

Deadpool Director Exits Sequel Amid "Creative Differences" With Ryan Reynolds – Report

The Deadpool sequel is moving forward without director Tim Miller, according to a report.

Deadline reports that Miller has exited the movie after a “series of creative differences” with star Ryan Reynolds. He hadn’t formally signed a deal to continue, but he was developing the script and by all accounts had planned to return behind the camera for a film Fox will release in 2018,” Deadline said. The nature of the creative differences was not specified in the report.

    No Caption Provided

According to Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr., the split was over “mutual creative differences” and is described as amicable in nature. Fox isn’t saying goodbye to Miller altogether, as he is expected to direct Fox’s Influx, based on the Daniel Suarez novel, that could be the first in a trilogy.

Released in February, the R-rated Deadpool was a smash hit. It made $782 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $58 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

In June 2016, Deadpool 2‘s script was nearing completion from writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who are returning from the first film. The movie was at one time expected to start shooting in early 2017, though it remains to be seen if that’s still the case now that Miller has reportedly dropped out.

“We don’t want $150 million to go make the next movie; that’s not Deadpool,” Wernick said earlier this year. “Deadpool doesn’t lift cities up into the air or battle aliens coming down to earth; that’s just not Deadpool. So we’re happy in that little small budget range that they have us in; we don’t wanna blow this next one out.”

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn weighed on the report today.

Honestly bummed about Tim Miller leaving Deadpool. He did an amazing job with the first one; I’d like to have seen where he’d go next.

  • New Wonder Woman Image Revealed for Justice League Movie

Justice League director Zack Snyder has shared a new photo of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in his upcoming movie. The shot is a fiery one, with flames burning behind the Amazonion warrior.

2016 marks the 75th anniversary of the Wonder Woman character. Gadot and Lynda Carter, who played the character in the ’70s TV series, appeared at the United Nations on Friday where Wonder Woman was named honorary ambassador for the empowerment of women and girls.

“In some magical and mystical way, there lies within each of us Wonder Woman,” Carter told an audience, according to Entertainment Weekly. “She is real. She lives and she breathes. I know this because she lives in me, and she lives in the stories that these women tell me, day in and day out. I see it in the letters and in the stories. I read it on social media. I see it in the tears that fall from the eyes of the women who say it saved them from some awful thing that they endured–because they saw that they could do something great.”

The USPS is releasing Wonder Woman stamps this year to celebrate the character’s 75th anniversary. Wonder Woman made her debut in October 1941 in the All Star Comics #8 issue, though she was not the focus of it.

Snyder’s Justice League also stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. It opens in November 2017. Gadot will be seen next as Wonder Woman in the standalone Wonder Woman movie, which opens in June 2017.

  • The Order: 1886 Dev — "There Are Legs to This IP"

Something new in Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886 franchise could happen, the developer has teased. According to DualShockers, creative director Ru Weerasuriya told Game Informer that “the IP has a future,” though it remains to be seen if this could be a new game or something else.

“The best way to answer that without giving anything… how can I say this… Is there a future? Yes. That IP has a future. It’s definitely built in that IP,” he said. “That future is already something that was built from the very get go, from the first day we started working on it. As you know, since you played the game and for the ones who played out there… there is a larger storyline. There is a macro story that keeps going, it’s an IP that is actually bigger than the storylines that we have created. So there are legs to this IP, definitely.”

As for whether Sony would remain the publisher for any new game installments, Weerasuriya said, “Well, you’ll have to ask Sony that.” Watch the full Game Informer interview in the video above, featuring Weerasuriya and Andrea Pessino, the co-founders of Ready at Dawn.

This is not the first time Weerasuriya has talked about the future of The Order: 1886. In May 2015, he explained that the PlayStation 4 game was “never written as a one-off story.”

“We feel that The Order showcased the fruits of our labor on technology. That was one of the biggest focuses for the team having come from PSP and jumping directly to PS4,” Weerasuriya said at the time. “The first game was more than anything a launch platform to build upon.”

“The Order was never written as a one-off story,” he added “There is a lot more to tell as you can see from the way the game ends.”

GameSpot’s The Order: 1886 review scored the game a 5/10, saying the title is “at best, perfectly playable, and lovely to look at and listen to. But it is also the face of mediocrity and missed opportunities.”

Ready at Dawn has multiple new games in development, including DeFormers for consoles and PC (made in partnership with GameStop) and Lone Echo for Oculus Rift.

  • Make A Halo Pumpkin Carving With These 12 Stencils [UPDATE]

Make A Halo Pumpkin Carving With These 12 Stencils [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] In 343’s latest Halo weekly blog post, the developer revealed one more stencil, this one themed around the Halo Championship series logo. The stencil was designed by 343 graphic designer Charles Ramos.

    No Caption Provided

    The original story is below.

With Halloween right around the corner, you might be thinking about carving a pumpkin. If you want to try your hand at a Halo design, 343 Industries has now released a number of stencils to help you out.

The developer posted 11 stencils on its blog, ranging in difficulty from Easy to Legendary. Some of the designs are for Halo items like the energy sword, Master Chief’s helmet, the UNSC logo, and a Guardian. That last one is listed as being of the Legendary difficulty variety–and it certainly looks like it.

Check out all the stencils in the blog post or in the image gallery above. Print them out and then apply to your pumpkin to get started. You can then post your creation on Twitter using the hashtag #HaloLantern for a chance to have it featured in an upcoming post by 343. #HaloLantern is the same hashtag that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used in the past for their own pumpkin-carving promotion.

Last year, someone made a frightfully good Halo pumpkin carving that depicted the Master Chief vs. Locke showdown that was the focus of Halo 5’s story.

When gutting your pumpkin, you can save the seeds and easily roast them for a very tasty snack.

Keep checking back with GameSpot for more in the days ahead on how video games are celebrating Halloween. For now, check out the stories below.

  • Godzilla 2 Might Have Found a New Director

Godzilla 2 Might Have Found a New Director

Monster movie Godzilla was one of 2014’s biggest box office hits, and anticipation is high for the sequel, which is due in 2019. In May it was announced that director Gareth Edwards, who helmed the first movie, was stepping down as director. It has now been reported that a new director is in talks to take over the movie.

    No Caption Provided

According to Screencrush, Michael Dougherty is in negotiations with producers Legendary to helm the film, which is due in 2019. Dougherty had already been announced as co-writer of the movie alongside Zach Shields, and is now under consideration to direct. According to the site, Dougherty’s role may depend on Legendary’s approval of his and Shields’s screenplay.

Dougherty previously directed the Christmas-themed horror movie Krampus, which he also wrote with Shields, as well as the acclaimed Halloween anthology Trick R’ Treat. As a writer, he worked on Bryan Singer’s superhero movies X-Men 2 and Superman Returns.

In May, Edwards left Godzilla 2 amicably, with Deadline reporting that he would instead be focusing on smaller projects. His Star Wars spinoff Rogue One hits theaters in December.

Godzilla 2 will form part of Legendary’s ongoing big monster universe. Kong: Skull Island is set for release in March 2017, and Godzilla 2 will be followed up in 2020 with monster mashup Godzilla vs. Kong.

  • The Last Guardian Has Finally Gone Gold

The Last Guardian has been in development a long time. How long? The development team has been working on it in various stages since 2007. But despite numerous delays, including one just last month, the game has finally gone gold.

PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed in a tweet, “The Last Guardian has gone gold! I’m so excited for you all to finally experience it ˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖”

I’ve waited a very long time to say this… The Last Guardian has gone gold! I’m so excited for you all to finally experience it ˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖

    — Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) October 22, 2016

“Going gold” means that primary development has concluded and the game can be pressed to physical discs. However, with the proliferation of day-one patches and DLC, there’s still typically lots of work for developers to do after reaching this important milestone.

The Last Guardian was primarily developed by Fumito Ueda, the talent behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. It was set to launch on the PS3, but various issues have now brought it to the PS4. The game is set to release on December 6, but if you can’t wait to get a taste of what will be in the game, you can check out a good chunk of gameplay and our initial impressions right here..
