  • Watch Avengers: Infinity War's Epic First Trailer

The first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War has been released. The upcoming superhero epic brings together pretty much every hero from the last decade of Marvel movies in their fight against the evil Thanos. Check the trailer out below.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. It’s directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who previous helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. It’s the first of two upcoming Avengers movies that the Russo brothers have directed, with the currently untitled Avengers 4 due in May 2019.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Marvel boss Kevin Feige addressed the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which he has stated will come to a “climax” with Avengers 4.

“There will be two distinct periods. Everything before Avengers 4 and everything after. I know it will not be in ways people are expecting,” he said. “We’re 22 movies in, and we’ve got another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before–intentionally.”

  • Destiny 2 Server Maintenance Taking Game Offline For 6 Hours This Week, Here's Exactly When

Destiny 2 will be unplayable for a few hours this week as developer Bungie performs server maintenance. The company is taking the game offline for around six hours to perform the maintenance, which applies to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Players will no longer be able to log in from 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM GMT on Thursday, November 30 (that’s 2 AM AEST on December 1 in Australia). An hour later, anyone still playing the game will be booted to the title screen. Bungie says the maintenance will end five hours after that–at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT (8 AM in Australia).

Bungie has provided no clues as to what–if anything–is changing; it only says that “no gameplay content or updates will be introduced with this maintenance period.” It could be related to an upcoming blog post, which will detail some key changes coming to Destiny 2.

It’s possible that post–which replaces the now-canceled Curse of Osiris stream–will address the game’s recent XP controversy. Fans discovered that Destiny 2 was limiting the amount of XP you earned when taking part in certain activities, such as Public Events. Bungie acknowledged this hidden system was in place and disabled it, stating, “We are not happy with the results.” However, this seemingly welcome change coincided with another adjustment, this one doubling the amount of XP needed to rank up at the level cap. Bungie did not acknowledge this change at first, only later confirming it to be the case and informing players it is working on an update to the in-game UI to make this change clear.

The Curse of Osiris expansion launches on December 5. It will increase Destiny 2’s level cap and offer PS4-exclusive content. For more, take a look at some of the new Curse of Osiris armor and gear or check out some Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris gameplay.

  • New On Netflix In December 2017: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, Will Smith's Bright, 8 Mile, And More Movies And TV Sho

With the arrival of the holidays comes a slew of new shows and movies on Netflix. It’s a particularly busy month for the streamer, with many holiday specials joining the service, alongside several Netflix originals and a number of new library titles. With popular titles like V for Vendetta, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Disney’s The Santa Clause trilogy arriving, December is going to be a busy month for streaming.

However, it’s a Netflix original movie that you should be paying closest attention to. December 22 will see the premiere of Bright, starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. The fantasy crime movie is directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad) with a script by Max Landis (American Ultra). The film marks Smith’s first time starring in a Netflix project and he’s certainly picked an interesting one.

Bright is set in a world where humans and fantasy creatures coexist. Smith plays an LAPD officer who is partnered with an Orc (Edgerton) when they find a very powerful magic wand that has the potential to change the world. Other new entries include Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, a new season of The Ranch, and Dave Chappelle’s latest stand-up comedy special. It’s not all good news, though.

There are also many titles departing the service in December. Black Snake Moan, Practical Magic, and 11 seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia are just a few of the movies and shows that will no longer be available after the end of 2017. So make sure you watch them while you still can.

  • The Ting Goes Skrrrahh In New FIFA 18 Video

EA has released a new video for FIFA 18 featuring two celebrities playing against each other on the PlayStation 4. Ordinarily, this isn’t the kind of thing that we’d report on, but one of those celebs happens to be a personal hero: Big Shaq … the one and only.

If you’re not familiar with him, Michael “Big Shaq” Deepah aka “Roadman Shaq,” is a comedian and Grime artist that shot to fame with his breakout hit, “Mans Not Hot.” Performed on Radio 1Xtra’s Fire In The Booth, the track is a caricature of roadmans in the UK and has since become fodder for internet memes and parodies. It was even used on the Jimmy Fallon Show to introduce Shaquille O’Neal.

One of the key conceits of the Roadman Shaq character is his unwillingness to take of his jacket because mans not hot. Never hot. However, in the FIFA 18 trailer he’s pitted against Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck, and if he loses he has to take off his jacket. It’s a high-stakes match for Big Shaq so things get a bit heated. Perspiration ting.

It’s a fun video and Big Shaq is on fine form in it; watch it above. Unfortunately, Asznee doesn’t make an appearance.

FIFA 18, meanwhile, is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In GameSpot’s FIFA 18 review, Oscar Dayus awarded it a 7/10, saying it excels off the pitch. “From the variety of game modes on offer and how everything’s presented, to the constant updates in FUT’s Team of the Week, Daily Objectives, and discussion of real-world happenings in commentary, FIFA 18 captures the world of football and confidently translates it into a video game.

“On the pitch, however, EA’s soccer series is still lagging far behind PES 2018‘s more fluid, satisfying football. This year’s improvements are welcome, but more needs to be done in the coming years if FIFA is to be a world-beater once again.”

A new FIFA 18 update has been released on all platforms and makes some changes to how goalkeepers behave in matches, how referees perceive aerial challenges, and has Ultimate Team tweaks. FIFA publisher EA has said it may not bring out a new football title yearly in future. Instead, it could switch to a subscription-based model.

  • Pokemon Go's Ho-Oh Now Available Worldwide

Pokemon Go's Ho-Oh Now Available Worldwide

Pokemon Go fans have been able to catch Lugia, one of the Legendary Pokemon from Gold and Silver, since July. However the other Legendary Bird Pokemon, Ho-Oh, has so far been unavailable in-game. Luckily, following the recent Global Catch Challenge, developer Niantic has unlocked the rainbow-colored creature in Raid Battles worldwide.

“As a result of all your hard work, Ho-Oh is now appearing in Raid Battles at Gyms around the world until December 12, 2017,” the company said. The Global Catch Challenge ended just recently, and unlocked Farfetch’d around the world (as well as Kangaskhan in east Asia). Since players reached the end goal of collectively catching 3 billion Pokemon, they also earned 6-hour lures and double XP.

Developer Niantic continues to support Pokemon Go, though it does have at least one more project in the pipeline. The company confirmed last week that it’s making a new title called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The developer did say, however, that making that game would not mean it would stop supporting Pokemon Go.

In addition to the new event, Pokemon Go also has new Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon cosmetic items available now. Those 3DS games launched just recently, and we awarded them an 8/10 in our Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon review. For lots more on the new games, check out this breakdown of the key differences between Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

  • Avatar Series Could End If Avatar 2 Flops, Says Director

Avatar Series Could End If Avatar 2 Flops, Says Director

Although James Cameron’s Avatar stands financially as the most successful movie ever made, many fans were surprised when the director announced that he was making no fewer than four sequels. Production is underway on Avatar 2 and 3, with the first of these set to arrive in 2020. However, Cameron has now admitted that the fate of Avatar 4 and 5 depends on the success of the first two movies.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Cameron was very honest about the future of the sci-fi series. “If Avatar 2 and 3 don’t make enough money, there’s not going to be a 4 and 5,” he said.

However, the director also explained that while connected, the movies also work as standalone narratives that aren’t entirely dependent on each other. “They’re fully encapsulated stories in and of themselves,” he explained. “It builds across the five films to a greater kind of meta narrative, but they’re fully formed films in their own right, unlike, say, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where you really just had to sort of go, ‘Oh, s**t, all right, well I guess I better come back next year.’ Even though that all worked and everybody did!”

    No Caption Provided

Last week, Cameron spoke about some of the technical challenges involved with making the Avatar sequels, in particular shooting motion-capture underwater. “It’s never been done before and it’s very tricky,” he said. “Our motion capture system, like most motion capture systems, is what they call optical base, meaning that it uses markers that are photographed with hundreds of cameras. The problem with water is not the underwater part, but the interface between the air and the water, which forms a moving mirror. That moving mirror reflects all the dots and markers, and it creates a bunch of false markers.

“So, we’ve thrown a lot of horsepower, innovation, imagination, and new technology at the problem, and it’s taken us about a year and a half now to work out how we’re going to do it.”

The first cast image from the Avatar sequel was revealed in September. Although specific plot details about Avatar 2 are scarce, producer Jon Landau did explain that the young cast would help shift the tone of the movie. “We never had this youthful element before, and that brings a different kind of energy to the film,” he said. “They represent the future generation of Pandora and play a very significant role–not just in this movie but throughout all the movies.”

Avatar 2 is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2020, with the third part arriving on December 17, 2021. If all goes to plan, we’ll see Avatar 4 and 5 on December 20, 2024 and December 19, 2025 respectively.
