Battlefield 1, Assassin's Creed And More Are Free This November With Xbox Games With Gold

This morning, Microsoft unveiled the newest additions to Games with Gold for Xbox One and Xbox 360. Available for free starting November 1, players with Xbox Live Gold will be able to download the critically-acclaimed WW1 shooter, Battlefield 1 for Xbox One, and also step back into the shoes of Altaïr, the assassin who started in all, with Assassin’s Creed for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One via backward compatibility.

From November 16 to December 15, players will be able to Chase the Sun for free with Flippfly’s arcade-inspired Race the Sun on Xbox One. And from November 16 to 30, players will be able to venture into hell with Dante’s Inferno on Xbox 360 and on the Xbox One with backward compatibility.

With Battlefield 1 still sitting pretty with a price tag of $39.99 and the other three games ranging from $9.99 to $19.99, the bundle is valued at over $84.96, and is only for a limited time, so if you’re not an Xbox Gold member but would like to own one of these games, now’s the time to update your subscription.

If you’re extremely late to the party and still need convincing as to why you should play the headlining game of the bundle, Battlefield 1, be sure to check out our review. It’s a terrific game no matter what time of the year it is.

  • Undertale Creator To Reveal Something New Tomorrow

Undertale Creator To Reveal Something New Tomorrow

Undertale creator Toby Fox is teasing something new regarding Undertale, though whether it’s a sequel or an update isn’t quite clear.

Whatever it is, however, it looks to be pretty major. The official Undertale Twitter account this morning posted several vague tweets, seemingly in in character, saying it wants “To show you something,” and that it will make contact again in 24 hours. It also mentions that whatever it’s going to reveal “is far from complete,” however, and that it will take questions from the community and use the feedback to complete it.

Fox is also encouraging PC and Mac players who’ve finished the game to play it early tomorrow morning. “I want to make something new, and it all begins with your feedback,” Fox said.

For more on Undertale, check out Daniel Tack’s glowing review from 2015

Considering this is all hinting towards “something new,” it’s likely we’re looking at a new game from Fox and/or possibly a sequel to Undertale. However, the statements about asking for community feedback also seem to hint toward an early access or crowdfunding approach to the game. While Undertale has sold quite well, it may be Fox wants to keep the grassroots spirit of the development process that birthed Undertale alive rather than directly publish or work with a publisher on a sequel. Either way, I can’t wait to see what this is. Unfortunately, I think I lost my Undertale save at some point, which means I won’t be able to see the reveal as intended.

  • Reader Discussion: Is Red Dead Redemption II's Realism Bothersome Or Effective?

Reader Discussion: Is Red Dead Redemption II's Realism Bothersome Or Effective?

Red Dead Redemption II is finally here, and it doesn’t disappoint. With many critics saying it has some of the best open-world design of this generation, this Rockstar title manages to breathe life into a very believable world. However, is the realism too much?

Rockstar meticulously labored over its attention to detail, with over 500,000 lines of unique dialogue, dynamic and beautiful weather systems, and an impressive amount of realism. Walking in deep snow is cumbersome, taking a bad turn at a rocky hill can kill you more easily than you’d expect, and your horse gets hurt when it bumps into trees and stumps.

This realism is a double-edged sword for me: knowing my horse can die, I take extra care when riding fast through a forest or in a gunfight. This increases my immersion and fondness for my horse Taco, but accidents can be frustrating.

On the other hand, I love the fact that Arthur’s weight can change depending on how you feed him or that if he hasn’t bathed for weeks, people might act differently toward him. These details are small but make a significant, positive effect by immersing me to the experience.

If you’ve already picked up Red Dead Redemption II, what are your thoughts on its realism? Let us know in the comments below.
