Bethesda Clarifies Which Achievements Carry Over From Fallout 76's Beta

The Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. (Break It Early Test Application) allowed players to carry their progress into the game which was set to release tomorrow (but had a stealth launch). Unfortunately, not every achievement makes that transfer. Luckily, Bethesda VP Pete Hines took to twitter to explain how to gain achievements and trophies after launch.

    https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/1062378074568826881

The essential problem that beta achievements don’t official register. In order to collect those trophies, you have to replay certain sections with a new character. All progress, like experience and weapons, will carry over to the launched game.

Fallout 76 is out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A large day-one patch addresses the problems players ran into during the beta. We spent three hours exploring the B.E.T.A. for Bethesda’s online multiplayer. Here is what the world looks like in action.

Fallout 76 Is Now Live And Playable

Bethesda Softworks’ open-world multiplayer experiment, Fallout 76, was set to go live at midnight tonight, but the game is already live and players around the world are diving into its post-apocalyptic world.

We’ve tested a standard retail disc and were able to play, and a number of Twitch streamers are also showing off their playthrough. Online stores still list Fallout 76 for pre-order, but if you got your copy early somehow (as some people on Twitter have reported) then you should be able to start playing today.

  • The New Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Trailer Has No Music, So Twitter’s Filled In The Blanks

The latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate trailer has a strange lack of music in the background, and as a result, has now become a bonafide meme. Fans from all over Twittersphere have stepped up to give their own personal take on the trailer, syncing up their own music to the trailer’s action. Classics like Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now and The Turtles’ Happy Together provide a pleasant twist, but then again the theme from One Punch Man does sync surprisingly well with Mario’s grand entrance.

For reference sake, here’s the original trailer, but for your meme-filled entertainment for the day, here are our favorites handpicked from the Twitter meme tree. Also, just a warning, some of these songs are loud and contain explicit lyrics, so if you’re in a workplace setting you might want to pop in some headphones.

    Head banger alert.

  • Marvel Comics Chief Stan Lee Passes Away At 95

Stan Lee, the former editor-in-chief, publisher, and chairman of Marvel comics has passed away at the age of 95.

Lee started working in comic books in 1939, quickly developing a mission statement to add more depth to the world of superheroes dominated by do-gooders with uncomplicated motivations. He saw an opportunity to develop superheroes with flaws and pathos, struggling with demons both personal and actual. Lee used this foundation to found Marvel comics in 1961 with Jack Kirby and the two created some of the most well-known and well-loved characters in media today.

Creating or having a hand in creating properties like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Iron Man, and more establishes a legacy for the comics giant that few will ever be able to measure up to.

Stan Lee also happily took part in almost every Marvel movie, whether he created the character or not, with usually a single-scene cameo. In the original Blade, his scene was actually deleted, something that definitely does not happen in modern cameos. While it is unknown how far ahead Lee’s scenes are usually filmed, it is likely that he will still be making appearances in Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 next year.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Lee’s family.

  • Kickstarter For Assassin's Creed Board Game Goes Live Tomorrow

Kickstarter For Assassin's Creed Board Game Goes Live Tomorrow

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice, a board game adaptation of the Ezio-era Assassin’s Creeds, will begin its Kickstarter campaign November 13. The 1-4 player game combines cooperative and tactical gameplay, and comes with miniatures of existing Assassin’s Creed characters alongside some new ones made just for the board game. The action takes place in Renaissance Italy between the Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations video games.

Board games based on beloved video game franchises are nothing new and often struggle to capture audiences’ hearts. The designers at Triton Noir, an independent board game studio, hope to appeal to “both those who are in love with Assassin’s Creed and the tactical infiltration board games enthusiasts”, according to the studio’s founder, Thibaud de la Touanne. The company aims to stay faithful to the source material by working closely with the video game designers at Ubisoft, while introducing their own unique touches. These new elements include characters, events, and surprises yet to be revealed.

After months of work and with a license deal with Ubisoft Montreal, Triton Noir has been developing Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice with the fans in mind. Thibaud de la Touanne, founder of Triton Noir, is working together with Manuel Rozoy, co-author of the game, and Fabrice Lamidey, story designer. If all of those names sound familiar, it might be because they have all worked for Ubisoft and each have successful board games under their belt.

Triton Noir recently took a prototype of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice to at SPIEL’18, an annual four-day board game trade fair, along with a behind the scenes look at making the game. The video details the working process, the studio’s close ties to Ubisoft, and teases secret content.

The kickstarter for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood of Venice will begin tomorrow and for enthusiastic donors, Triton Noir is offering a free Ezio mini to day one backers.

  • Pikachu Is On The Case In The First Trailer For The Detective Pikachu Movie

Pikachu Is On The Case In The First Trailer For The Detective Pikachu Movie

Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, the live-action film adaptation of the 3DS game Detective Pikachu. The story is set in Ryme City, a crowded metropolis where Pokémon and humans live together, and centers around Tim Goodman whose legendary detective father has mysteriously disappeared.

The trailer shows off the pivotal scene where Tim first meets and understands a Pikachu that has broken into his house in the middle of the night. Ryan Reynolds’ voice coming out of the well-known Pokémon sets the humorous tone for the rest of the video.

Detective Pikachu for the 3DS received middling reviews when it came out in Europe and America back in March. Game Informer’s Ben Reeves called it “a bit too elementary” in his review. However, the game’s lukewarm reception didn’t hinder fans’ curiosity about the movie. The film maker even reveal the logo during the opening ceremonies of the 2018 Pokémon World Championships

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu will be coming to theaters May 11. If you’re interested in seeing more, a leak from earlier this year shows a little bit more of what is behind the curtain.

  • Echo Combat Releases On Thursday

    Echo Combat Releases On Thursday

Echo Combat, the zero-gravity multiplayer shooter from Ready at Dawn, is releasing this week for Oculus Rift. The multiplayer shooter is a companion of sorts to the zero-gravity narrative game, Lone Echo. Getting it is a little tricky, but here are some instructions:

If you already own Echo VR, you can purchase the Echo Combat DLC on the Echo VR Oculus Store page. Echo VR players can also log in to Echo VR and purchase Echo Combat from the Main Menu or in the Echo VR lobby at any of the Matchmaking Terminals or Customization Terminals, confirm your purchase in headset, and you’re ready to take off into zero-g glory.

We played the game at E3 2018, and were impressed. Navigation in VR is always tricky, but the team at Ready at Dawn are really onto something with its zero-g movement system.

  • Report: Valve Working On Its Own VR Headset, May Include A Half-Life VR Title

Report: Valve Working On Its Own VR Headset, May Include A Half-Life VR Title

VR website UploadVR has confirmed with multiple sources that a previous imgur asset leak indeed shows prototypes of an upcoming Valve VR headset separate from the current Vive initiative with partner company HTC.

The device may come with a Half-Life VR title that could be a prequel as well as two Knuckles motion controllers. The unnamed unit also supports a 135° field of view with “roughly the same angular resolution as the current HTC Vive.”

That Valve is striking out on with its own VR headset is not surprising given the resources the company has devoted to the technology including its SteamVR platform and upcoming titles.

    [Source: UploadVR, imgur]

How are people going to like the next Half-Life title being a VR one? Nevermind, I think I already know…
