  • Anthem will have at least a small connection with the Mass Effect games

It doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing a new Mass Effect game anytime soon, but BioWare is keeping the franchise fresh in our minds in its upcoming online RPG Anthem.

In celebration of N7 Day (the unofficial Mass Effect holiday), Anthem and Mass Effect lead producer Michael Gamble tweeted an image of N7 armor being worn in the Fort Tarsis hub.

The N7 armor is the iconic body suit worn by Mass Effect’s protagonist Commander Shepard.

You can check out Gamble’s tweet below:

Gamble didn’t release any details about when or how this skin will be made available to players, but we’re pretty excited to get a piece of Mass Effect in BioWare’s new IP.

In addition to this teaser tweet, BioWare tweeted a video examining the past and future of the Mass Effect franchise, and confirmed that Mass Effect Andromeda is now enhanced for Xbox One X.

You can check out BioWare’s video below if you’re feeling a big nostalgic:

Anthem is due to release on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on February 22, 2019.

    • NOTE: Once the update is available to you, you can manually begin the update by launching the Guide and navigating to All Settings > System > Updates.
    • If your console hasn’t downloaded and installed the update by 3:00 AM PDT 11/9/2018 (10:00AM GMT 11/8/18), you will be prompted to do so at that time.

    DETAILS:

    OS version released: rs5_release_xbox_dev_1811.181107-1810

    Available: 6:00PM PST 11/8/18

    Mandatory Date/Time: 3:00 AM PST 11/9/18

Starting at 6:00 p.m. PST today, members of the Xbox One Preview Alpha ring will begin receiving a new 1811 Xbox One system update (181107-1810). Read on for more about the fixes and known issues in the latest 1811 system update.

    New Features:

    Family Settings

    • Children signing up for new accounts will now be asked to add a parent only if required to by local privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR or COPPA). This means that some minors, like teens in the U.S., will no longer have to add a parent and join a Microsoft family during signup. Xbox privacy and online safety defaults will still be applied based on age, and in order to change those, the minor would need to add a parent on Xbox who can then change their settings. Minors not in a family can add a parent anytime in Settings > Account > Family settings > Add a parent. Joining a family would also allow the parent and child to use other family features like content restrictions, screen time, activity reporting, and spending.
    • Children that are subject to local privacy regulations will still be required to add a parent during signup. While this will create a Microsoft family through which the parent can use family features like content restrictions, screen time, activity reporting, and spending, the parent will no longer be required to sign in on Xbox. If a parent wants to change their child’s Xbox privacy and online safety settings, the parent can sign in separately on Xbox and manage their family in Settings > Account > Family settings.
    • Existing child accounts are not affected by this change and will remain with their parents in their current Microsoft family.

    Mouse & Keyboard Support

    • We have enabled mouse support in this release.  Please check out the Quest in the Xbox Insider Hub to experience mouse and keyboard support in Warframe.

    Search Enhancements

    • The search function has been enhanced across the console and will now return responses from the Xbox Assist application for example to help with help, support and troubleshooting.  Please check out the Quest in the Xbox Insider Hub to help us gather feedback.

    Fixes:

Unhide titles in My Games and Apps

    • The sequence of keys to press to unhide titles from My Games and Apps has been changed:
      • To Unhide items in you collection, press down on the left stick and hit ‘X’

    System – Localization

    • Fixed localization issues throughout the OS.

    System – General

    • General app stability

    Known Issues:

    Audio

    • We are tracking audio issues in which some games have audio that cuts in and out.

  • The Sims 4 Getting First-Person Mode (And You Know What'll Happen Next)

The Sims 4 is adding a first-person camera, developer EA Maxis has announced. The studio revealed the feature in the newest Maxis Monthly livestream on Twitch, and it looks absolutely bizarre, wonderful, and ripe for videos of first-person Sim sex.

The first-person option underwent a number of revisions to get it to a workable, enjoyable state. In the stream, Maxis representatives talk about how the initial version of first-person mode was disorienting and vomit-inducing, but some camera-smoothing elements were implemented to help fix this. The camera is situated on your primary Sim’s face, but to get this to work, Maxis removed your Sim’s head to avoid clipping and other issues. Think about that for a minute. “It embraces The Sims’ weirdness,” community manager SimGuru Kate says of the new first-person mode.

The first-person option opens up a lot of exciting new possibilities, and one of those is sex. SimGuru Kate said you might be wondering what woo-hooing (the terminology for sex in The Sims) might look like in first-person, and she says you’ll find out in due time. The first-person camera will also be especially remarkable for events like having a baby and getting into a fight.

“We know this is not for everybody; it’s just weird and fun and quite random,” SimGuru Kate says.

The patch that introduces first-person mode will be available on November 13, and everyone gets it for free. The next paid expansion for The Sims 4 meanwhile, Get Famous, arrives on November 16.

  • Red Dead 2 Perks Guide: Trinkets, Talismans, And All The Crafting Components You Need

Red Dead 2 Perks Guide: Trinkets, Talismans, And All The Crafting Components You Need

Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn’t make a lot of its mechanics known to the player. There are systems buried deep within that you’d be hard-pressed to come in contact with if you’re mainlining the game’s major story and side missions. Among these mechanics are special Perks that offer improvements to Arthur’s overall abilities.

We know what you’re thinking, though: “Perks? You mean like Perks you unlock from an RPG-like progression tree?” Yes, and no. Red Dead Redemption 2 does in fact offer these sorts of Perks, but they’re unlocked by obtaining special items known as Talismans and Trinkets, and not from any special in-game progression screen.

Talismans and Trinkets are primarily crafted at Fences–special black market shops that sell all manner of useful items you can’t get at any ol’ General Shop. You’ll need parts from Legendary Animals to craft them. Others are rewarded to you by completing specific missions under special conditions. While Talismans and Trinkets are technically items, know that you don’t need to equip them in order for them to be active. Once you acquire one, it’ll affect Arthur’s abilities permanently, and they can even be equipped as a cosmetic item.

Below we run down all of the Talismans we’ve found so far, what they do, and what you need to unlock them. Any Talismans or Trinkets that have crafting components marked with a “*” are special items that require you to complete specific missions or challenges; a table can be found further below that details their locations.

If you’re looking for more guides, you’d be remiss not to check out our feature highlighting all the tips you should know before playing. Though, we also have guides on more specific subjects, like cheat codes, gun customization and money making. Be sure to read our Red Dead 2 review if you haven’t already.

  • Another Of Red Dead Redemption 2's Biggest Mysteries Has Been Solved

It’s shocking the amount of stuff you can find in Red Dead Redemption 2. Heck, the Stranger missions, Legendary animals, and camp side-activities were already enough as it is. But it seems another major discovery has been made, and it’s not what you’d expect. UFOs were one thing, but this is another entirely.

To keep you from getting spoiled, we’re going to be vague with the details of this discovery. It’s really worth seeing it through the end so you can experience it yourself. The objective of this mission is quite simple: find five mysterious writings scattered across Saint Denis. Once you’ve found all those, you’ll get a map that points you to an alleyway near the church in town. However, in order to trigger the event properly, you need to visit at night. If you really want to know what it is, hover your mouse over the text below:

You find five mysterious writings that inevitably lead you to finding an actual vampire. Seriously. A vampire!

Below we detail the locations of all five mysterious writings, as well as provide directions on how to get to the alleyway by the Saint Denis church. You can find the writings in any order, but for the sake of clarity, we’ve numbered them to make it easier to follow. Massive props to Luke Lawrie of Stevivor, who deserves all the credit for being able to discern these clues and find them all across town. With bizarre stuff like this, it seems there’s no shortage of secrets tucked away in Red Dead Redemption 2, so if you’ve discovered something crazy, be sure to let us know about it in the comments below.

    Clue 1

“I drink from the maiden and I live again in the dead. The heart of the king of blood.”

The first clue is located on the building just above the second “N” in “Saint Denis” on the map. You’ll see it written on the wall of a red building with white doors.

    Clue 2

“I feed again. The blood of life. The circle has begun.”

The second clue is near the Saint Denis market place where the local Fence and Trapper are. It’s tucked away in an alleyway behind a gate where there are some neatly stacked barrels.

    Clue 3

“Five bones under the perfect star. Nosferatu with Dominica will become mortal again.”

The third clue is located by the Butcher and General Store on the southwestern side of town. It’s on the other side of the shops, tucked away under an overhang.

    Clue 4

Oh sweetest of napes, may your blood remain forever on my lips. Six there will be before the lust is sated.”

The fourth clue is found directly north of the post office, tucked away in a corridor. Look to the shot above to chart a path to its locations.

    Clue 5

With one long kiss, I draw the life from her and await the outpost of advancing day.”

The final clue is found on another wall of the building the previous clue was written on. Simply head up north to get to it, but you’ll likely have to run around the building to reach it. This building complex is a bit of a labyrinth but stick with it and you’ll find it eventually.

    The Big Reveal

As stated above, you’ll get a map once you’ve gathered all the clues. It’s a tad vague in the direction it’s trying to point you, but it’s ultimately trying to get you to go to a secluded alleyway to the west of the General Store and Butcher. However, the special event won’t trigger until nighttime, so be sure to advance time at the local saloon. Once it’s night, head to the alleyway and prepare yourself for a bizarre event that defies expectations.
