  • Transformers BotBots Are Starting To Hit Retail

Transformers BotBots Are Starting To Hit Retail

It will likely be too late to arrive for most Christmas stocking stuffers, but some online and brick-and-mortar stores in North America have begun to sell the newest iteration of the Transformers brand. While some other series continue to appeal to the more dedicated retro collector’s market (check out the Siege figures that are also now beginning to go up for sale), the BotBots line is a decidedly kid-friendly option focused on very small Transformers disguised as household items.

The roughly 1-inch figures take the form of a variety of everyday items that turn into cute robots, and they’re grouped into different tribes themed around things you might buy at the store, like the electronic gadget disguises of the Techie Team, the school supplies of the Backpack Bunch, and even (unfortunately) the bathroom-themed Toilet Troop, among several other groups.

While the line is pretty squarely targeted at a younger audience, the simple transformations and inexpensive price point may end up drawing in some more dedicated collectors, especially because there are simply so many figures to snag. The new toy line has an interesting packaging strategy, as there are both five-figure and eight-figure packs that you can pick to get particular characters ($9.99 and $14.99, respectively), as well as blind single packs for $2.99, which is where you have a shot at some of the rarer figures in the initial 61-figure series.

Check out the gallery below for a look at the full line.

  • Gran Turismo Sport Has Added Over 100 Cars for Free Since Launch

As well as over 30 tracks.

Gran Turismo Sport, in our opinion, is gaming as a service done the right way. Polyphony Digital’s built a pretty impressive e-sports scene around the simulation racer, and it’s continued to improve and iterate upon the PlayStation 4 exclusive since its launch last year – eroding any criticisms that players had about the day one offering in October 2017.

In fact, fansite GT Planet has been doing some number crunching, and it’s revealed that a whopping 103 cars and 32 tracks (across seven locations) have been added over the past year and a bit. That’s a wealth of content, and when you consider that the developer’s been expanding the single player GT League and adding Scapes in unison, you’ve got a pretty meaty package here now.

  • Game of the Year 2018: #9 – Monster Hunter: World

    A true monster.

Finally bringing Capcom’s criminally addictive series back to home consoles, Monster Hunter: World wowed both critics and fans when it released near the start of the year. Its early release date has perhaps hindered it when it comes to Game of the Year conversations, but make no mistake: this superbly crafted action RPG should not be counted out.

  • Watch: Gobelins Animated Short 'Hors De L'Eau' with Snow Monkeys

Watch: Gobelins Animated Short 'Hors De L'Eau' with Snow Monkeys

    Hors De L'Eau Short Film

We’re almost finished with 2018, but there’s a few more good short films to feature. Hors De L’Eau, which translates to Out of Water in French, is one of the final graduation projects for 2018 made by filmmakers at the animation school Gobelins in Paris, France. This animated short is a parable about exclusion, telling a story about a macaque mother who encounters hostility from a group of snow monkeys due to strict rules which govern their community. The POV perspective is really striking, and allows us to empathize so much more with her sad, harrowing story. This film does have a strong message that it’s trying to convey, but it’s also an impressive work of art – all the monkeys and the animation are exquisite. This is really worth your time to watch – it’s only 7 minutes in total. There’s no dialogue but the score is fantastic as well. View below. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Rogue Love Story 'Heartlock' with Lesley-Ann Brandt

Official Trailer for Rogue Love Story 'Heartlock' with Lesley-Ann Brandt

    Heartlock Trailer

“You gotta find what’s in a person’s soul before you can posses them.” Dark Star Pictures has released an official trailer for an indie “rogue love story” drama titled Heartlock, featuring a clever romantic escape story set inside a prison. The film follows a female prison guard who can’t help her feelings for a new inmate named Lee. However, seasoned convict Continental has taken Lee under his wing, in hopes of persuading him to exploit his new love interest to help them escape. Heartlock stars Lesley-Ann Brandt, along with Alexander Dreymon, Erik LaRay Harvey, Cedric Young, Wayne David Parker, and Jacqueline Williams. This looks pretty slick, perhaps even a little too smart for its own good, but with a nifty concept. ›››

  • New 'Life Is Destroy' Trailer Showcases Another Game In Travis Strikes Again

    Weird and wonderful.

The No More Heroes spin-off Travis Strikes Again is one of the first titles arriving on the Switch in 2019. The Grasshopper and Suda 51 release is essentially a bunch of mini-games starring Travis and Badman, who find themselves trapped inside the Death Drive Mark II – a phantom console from the ’90s.

In the previous trailer, we got a look at the “Electric Thunder Tiger II” video game and the latest clip shows off the “Life Is Destroy” game, set in suburbia. It will include more high-tempo hack-and-slash gameplay and requires Travis Touchdown and Badman to take down Mr. Doppelganger.

  • New Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission Trailer Shown At Jump Festa 2019

    The power of cards.

For a game about digital card battles, Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission looks rather dramatic based on the new six-minute trailer Bandai Namco released at Jump Festa 2019. This second official clip about the Dimps developed title runs through the basics of the game in Japanese while showcasing plenty of new footage.

If you missed the original announcement, the game described as a “super card battle adventure” includes more than 1,160 cards and 350 Dragon Ball characters from the long-running series. There’s also a glimpse of the new villain Cirrus, the game’s story mode, seven-verse-seven battles and the creation mode. The game appears to be filled with plenty of customisation options as well. As previously noted, this iteration is based on the existing arcade version.
