HBO’s Westworld is draped with the trappings of the horror, action adventure, Western, and horror genres, but it’s best understood as a mystery. The show doesn’t exactly have a coherent, unified plot so much as a tableau of vignettes and characters whose interconnectedness is only vaguely clear. The more that the show reveals about its setting, the less straightforward it all is.

“I’d love to talk a little, we haven’t done that very much.” Another intriguing and well-made short film to feature this month. The Best of Intentions, also known as Han som ville henne så väl in Swedish, is a Swedish suspense thriller short film directed by actor Emil Jonsson – who also stars in this film. Famous Swedish actor Per Ragnar, seen in Light the Right One In, co-stars as a father of a disabled woman who comes to confront one of the workers at the care home where she lives. It’s described as a thriller “in the vein of old Twilight Zone episodes” and definitely has that feel. The two lead performances are outstanding, and the tension building is impressive. It’s a thought-provoking thriller cleverly addressing moral dilemmas. ›››

“It is hard to take your eyes off the fire that burns deep under our feet.” Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Werner Herzog’s other new documentary this year, titled Into the Inferno, which premiered at the Telluride & Toronto Film Festivals. Into the Inferno is Herzog’s investigation into volcanoes, along with volcanologist Clive Oppenheimer. They travel the world and explore various cultures and concepts related to volcanoes. It’s one of Herzog’s best, and is definitely worth seeing, I totally loved it. Not only does he have some jaw-dropping footage, but it’s fascinating to follow his tangents and side stories. I wrote in my review that it “examines the act of creation, with vivid imagery and utterly engrossing discussions.” Watch below. ›››

“Fine, I can talk. Now let’s see if you can listen.” DreamWorks Animation has released the first teaser trailer for their next new comedy movie, titled The Boss Baby, from the director of the Madagascar series and Mastermind. Alec Baldwin voices the adorable little baby, seriously called just “Baby” in the film, who is a suit-wearing briefcase-carrying kid that teams up with his seven-year old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co. Other voices include Miles Bahski, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Tobey Maguire, and Steve Buscemi. This teaser makes it look like there is quite a bit of tension between the baby and his brother, but it seems like they’ll probably end up friends by the end. What do you make of this? ›››

Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns Rockstar Games, 2K Games, and 2K Sports, has filed a new trademark application for something called “Ghost Story.”
As discovered by GameRant, the trademark was filed on October 6 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Take-Two actually submitted five different trademark filings for Ghost Story, covering things like video games, movies, and even clothing.

The existence of a trademark filing does not necessarily mean much, if anything, about a future product or announcement. Take-Two also holds trademarks for “Judas” and “GTA TV” and nothing has ever come from those. Take-Two does not typically comment on trademark filings.
Whether Ghost Story is connected to any existing Take-Two video game series or a new IP–or something else entirely–remains to be seen. Take-Two recently set up a division called Double Take that is dedicated to making comic books and graphic novels. We’ll bring you more details as they’re made available.
Recently, Take-Two teased that Rockstar would announce a new game “soon,” though it wouldn’t launch until April 2017 at the soonest. Rockstar is also working on mysterious new IP.
In other news about potential upcoming Take-Two announcements, Rockstar Games is teasing something related to Red Dead Redemption, though whether it’s a sequel, a remaster, a PC version, or something else is not yet known.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, which is pitched as a reinvention of the series, will not come out in January 2017 as scheduled. Developer CI Games announced today that the shooter has been delayed to April 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
The studio said the delay gives the team more time to “further polish and optimize” the game. As announced previously, Ghost Warrior 3 is an open-world title, whereas its predecessors were more linear in nature.
“We’re making an ambitious game and unfortunately still need an extra few months to make sure it will stand up to the expectations of the fans,” CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski said in a statement. “Our goal is to ensure Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 runs smoothly on all platforms, and right now we still have some important work left on optimizing the game.
“This is our biggest project we’ve ever worked on and the entire team is pushing really hard to make the entire experience more polished,” he added. “I really hope everyone will understand our decision and will wait the extra time to play something we’re excited about, and that will redefine our IP and the sniping genre as a whole. This is a new beginning for the Sniper: Ghost Warrior series.”
