  • Resident Evil 3 Remake Skips The Game Awards, Fuelling State of Play Rumours

No plans to do with the game.

Some very, very interesting news is making its way out of Geoff Keighley’s Reddit AMA concerning The Game Awards next week. The all but confirmed Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake for PlayStation 4 will not be appearing at the show, with the host stating: “There are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show.”

We know that the remake is a thing after key art leaked on PSN servers a few days ago, so when exactly will the title be announced? Well, it’s looking more and more likely that a State of Play livestream is set to take place before The Game Awards this time next week. Insider ZhugeEX suggested that the game would be made public by Capcom before the event upon its initial leak, and this comment from Keighley leads us to believe that the rumours are true. We reckon that a State of Play livestream from Sony is incoming shortly.

  • NieR’s 10th Anniversary Website Sets Tongues Wagging

    So NieR, so far.

NieR: Automata was one heckuva ride, wasn’t it? The zany Platinum Games developed action RPG really captured the imagination, with its bizarre gameplay twists and stunning audiovisual presentation. There’s always been hope that publisher Square Enix would commission a third title in the seriesespecially after stronger than expected sales of the second game – but nothing’s come to fruition yet.

However, a new website dedicated to celebrating the 10th anniversary of the series has set tongues wagging. So far the page only includes confirmation of a couple of concerts, which are scheduled to take place in Tokyo and Osaka next year. However, there’s hope that the page may culminate in some kind of sequel announcement – especially as we near a decade since the launch of the original NieR title on the PlayStation 3. Fingers crossed.

  • Could Multiplayer Spin-Off Project Resistance Be a Resident Evil 3 Pack-In?

    Persist to resist.

Here’s a doozy of a rumour for you: could Project Resistance – the lousy looking Resident Evil multiplayer spin-off – ship alongside the heavily rumoured Resident Evil 3 remake? Yesterday, cover art for a PlayStation 4 edition of the aforementioned PSone title appeared in the PlayStation Store’s database, but it was accompanied by updated imagery for Biohazard Resistance, which appears to be the final Japanese name for the online game.

  • Bluepoint’s Mysterious PS5 Game Will Become Studio’s Proudest Achievement

    Soul searchers.

It’s old news now, but Bluepoint Games has been tasked with creating a massive title for the PlayStation 5 – and many believe it will be a Demon’s Souls remake. This game, according to president Marco Thrush, will become the studio’s greatest achievement to date – an impressive feat when you consider that the Texas team has touched acclaimed PlayStation 2 title Shadow of the Colossus twice.

“There’s no question in our minds that our current project will become the achievement we’re most proud of,” the executive teased as part of an interview with Segment Next. Unfortunately, he stopped short of sharing further details, stressing that all will be revealed when Sony’s ready to talk about it. You’ll have to sit tight until that PS5 reveal event, then – it’s going to be huge.

  • In the Valley of Gods Development Put on Hold as Half-Life: Alyx Takes Priority

Team spread across many Valve projects.

For the past couple of weeks, Campo Santo fans have been worried about the development of the studio’s follow-up to Firewatch, titled In the Valley of Gods. Various members of the team took the game out of their Twitter bios, and combined with the fact that not a single word had been heard of the project for a suspiciously long time, people feared that bad news was incoming. Unfortunately, that has been realised as the development of In the Valley of Gods has been put “on hold”.

Speaking with Polygon, co-founder Jake Rodkin confirms that the team has split up to work on various projects at Valve, including Half-Life: Alyx. “As we integrated ourselves into Valve it became clear there was a lot of valuable work to be done on Half-Life: Alyx. Some of us starting lending a hand, and have since become full-time on the project as it approaches launch.”

  • Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebrates The Rise of Skywalker with New Content

    Releasing 5th December.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has been very quietly trucking along ever since its launch back in late 2017, delivering lots of free content for its dedicated community. It sounds like a genuinely good game now, and it’s only going to get better later this week with a host of new additions inspired by the upcoming blockbuster film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Due for release on Thursday 5th December, Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition bundles together every single piece of purchasable, customisable content released for the game and adds new items taken from the ninth entry in the saga. You’ll be able to get your hands on Legendary Appearances for Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren when the movie hits theatres on 20th December, as well as a new map and characters to play as. We assume this means the Stormtroopers equipped with jet packs that a recent TV ad teased.
