  • PlayStation Now Subscribers Are Losing PS Store Purchases Due to a Licenses Bug

    PS Plus also causing problems.

There’s no doubt about it: the PlayStation Store is a complicated beast. Unfortunately, as Sony adds more layers to its digital shopping plaza, it’s becoming even more complex. Case in point: PlayStation Now subscribers are beginning to report license-related issues which means that they will lose access to titles – even if they’ve bought them.

The issue is so convoluted that we’re struggling to summarise it, but we’ll give it a go. Effectively, when you subscribe to the Japanese giant’s streaming service, you’re given the option to download PlayStation 4 titles to your console. This gives you a license to play the software, but it expires along with either your subscription or at the conclusion of the release’s availability.

  • Tekken 7 Reveals Two More New Fighters For Season 3, Plus Leroy Out This Week

Tekken 7 recently kicked off its third season with Zafina, and now the third and fourth fighters being added have been revealed. One’s returning to the series after some time away, but the other is brand new.

Returning to the world of Tekken is Ganryu, last seen in Tekken 6. He remains a bit of a goofy character, and his open-palm hits look pretty painful. He’s Tekken’s equivalent of E. Honda in the Street Fighter series, and it looks like he’s a streamer now. Here’s his character trailer.

The next all-new fighter for Tekken 7 is Fahkumram, a Muay Thai champion. His intimidating size and strange look is shown off in the trailer below, along with his punishing attacks. We wonder what the story is with those scars and throbbing veins. He’s the fourth and final character to be added this season.

Meanwhile, Leroy Smith–the second character added in season 3–got a release date. He’s coming December 10, and you can check out his moves (and his kickass theme song) in the video below.

Ganryu is due before the close of winter (meaning February 2020), and Fahkumram will arrive at a later date. The season pass will also give you access to frame data display and add an additional stage, both at a later date.

  • Epic Games Store Now Gives Developers More Control Over In-Game Purchases

The Epic Games Store has pulled a lot of exclusives with its promise of advances to developers and publishers, and its more generous revenue split compared to Steam, and now it’s taking another step to make things better for the companies releasing games on it. A change in the Epic Games Store policy means that developers are now free to use whatever payment and purchase systems they want within their games.

As reported by Gamasutra, until this change games on the store had to use an Epic-approved payment system for in-game purchases. “We support developers’ right to choose among the best stores, in-app payment processors, online services, and engines,” Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney told them.

This will mean that developers will potentially be able to retain a larger share of the revenue generated from in-game sales, whether those be microtransactions or the purchase of more substantial downloadable content. From a consumer point of view–and, indeed, for a lot of developers–this change probably will not mean much, but there’s now potential for developers to make more money from their in-game sales.

The latest major Epic Games Store exclusive is Phoenix Point, a spiritual successor to XCom.

  • Fun First Trailer for Action Comedy ‘Free Guy’ Starring Ryan Reynolds

Fun First Trailer for Action Comedy ‘Free Guy’ Starring Ryan Reynolds

    Free Guy Trailer

“Guy – this world, it’s a video game. And it’s full of bad guys… We need you to be the Good Guy.” Fox has debuted the first full-length trailer for Free Guy, the video game action comedy concept conceived by Matt Lieberman, and directed by Shawn Levy (of Night at the Museum Date Night, Real Steel, The Internship). Ryan Reynolds stars as “Guy”, just a regular guy who one day learns that he’s actually an NPC (meaning Non-Player Character – an automated character mostly in the background of video games) until he suddenly decides to take over and become the hero of the game. This is definitely inspired by the game Overwatch, plus it has a bit of a live-action Wreck-It Ralph feel, and looks like a seriously fun time. Also starring Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, and Taika Waititi. This looks like it could turn out extra dumb, or incredibly entertaining, and so far I’m feeling like it will be the latter. Jump right in. ›››

  • Sam Claflin & Timothy Spall in US Trailer for Thriller ‘The Corrupted’

Sam Claflin & Timothy Spall in US Trailer for Thriller ‘The Corrupted’

    The Corrupted Trailer

“Nobody gets ahead in this game!” Saban Films has debuted an official US trailer for the indie thriller The Corrupted, which is opening in the US in January following an initial UK release earlier this summer. The crime thriller is set in London, specifically in East London and Stratford which has been redeveloped. Sam Claflin plays Liam, an ex-con trying to win back the love & trust of his family. His drive for redemption will see him caught up in a web of conspiracy, crime, and corruption, when he gets mixed up with a dangerous property developer. The full cast includes Timothy Spall, Hugh Bonneville, Charlie Murphy, Naomi Ackie, Joe Claflin (Sam’s real brother who plays his brother in the film), and Noel Clarke. Looks like yet another crime film where a guy fresh out of prison gets caught up with all the wrong guys at the wrong time. ›››

  • Feature: The Game Awards 2019 Predictions – 10 Announcements We’re Expecting

    Predicting Keighley’s surprises.

If the past couple of years are anything to go by, The Game Awards is an event worth tuning in for. After a handful of poor, menial shows at the start of the PlayStation 4 generation, which at their worst saw Joel McHale’s attempt at a comedy act in the presenter role, Geoff Keighley has managed to bring back some legitimacy to each and every category the night celebrates.

The awards themselves are now in a good place, but it’s the announcements and surprising reveals that many will be on the lookout for. Whether it’s teaser trailers for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Dragon Age 4 or unveilings of The Outer Worlds, past performances have proven that the show can bring the hype. So, without further ado, these are our predictions for The Game Awards 2019.

What in the holy hell is up with this trailer for an I Am Jesus Christ video game?
