New Trailer for Darren Bousman's Haunted House Horror 'Abattoir'

    Abattoir Trailer

“The guy is a ghost collecting ghosts.” Momentum Pictures has debuted a new trailer for the haunted house horror thriller Abattoir, from director Darren Bousman (of Saw II-IV and Repo! The Genetic Opera). The film stars Jessica Lowndes as a real estate reporter who teams up with a cop to investigate the death of her family. This leads her to discover a house in the town of New English called the Abattoir, featuring “stitched together” unending rooms of death. There’s obviously something much more sinister going on with this place, but the question that keeps coming up is: “How do you build a haunted house?” The cast includes Joe Anderson, Dayton Callie, John McConnell and Lin Shaye. If you’re a horror fan, give this a look. ›››

  • Watch: New Featurette for 'Rogue One' with Director Gareth Edwards

Watch: New Featurette for 'Rogue One' with Director Gareth Edwards

    Rogue One Featurette

“It’s a whole world I’ve been thinking about for quite a long time…” Disney + Lucasfilm have unveiled one more exciting new featurette for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This video goes behind-the-scenes of the production with director Gareth Edwards, who talks about how this is like “the world’s greatest toy set” and how it’s like being a kid again. Oh to visit this set would have been a dream come true. I wish there was more behind-the-scenes footage in this, but I do remember we had that other Celebration reel earlier this year that showed quite a bit. It’s also interesting to see them showing the direct connections between A New Hope and Rogue One, but makes sense. Can’t wait to see this, it’s going to be exhilarating. Almost time. ›››

  • Paul Schneider & Geoffrey Rush in Official Trailer for 'The Daughter'

Paul Schneider & Geoffrey Rush in Official Trailer for 'The Daughter'

    The Daughter Trailer

Keep your family close and your secrets closer. Kino Lorber has revealed the first trailer for Simon Stone’s indie drama The Daughter, inspired by one of Henrik Ibsen’s plays. The story is about a man who returns home to discover a long-buried family secret, and when he tries to make things better he threatens the lives of those he left years before. The daughter in the title is played by Odessa Young, and she comes to play an important part in the story as well. The film stars Sam Neill and Geoffrey Rush, as well as Ewen Leslie, Paul Schneider, Miranda Otto, Anna Torv and Gareth Davies. This seems to be another one of these return-home and find out everything is not alright with the family dramas, with some moody filmmaking. ›››

First Trailer for Ry Russo-Young's New Time Loop Film 'Before I Fall'

    Before I Fall Trailer

“If I was going to relive the same day over and over, I want it to be a day that would make a difference.” Open Road has debuted the first official trailer for a film titled Before I Fall, an indie drama from director Ry Russo-Young. Adapted from Lauren Oliver’s novel of the same name, this time loop story involves a high school teenager – played by Isla Fischer lookalike Zoey Deutch – who ends up dying at the end of the night, only to wake up and restart the same day. The synopsis says this give her a chance to “question just how perfect her life really was.” Ah yes, the lives of teenagers, so perfect yet not so perfect. The cast includes Halston Sage, Jennifer Beals, Logan Miller, G. Hannelius, Elena Kampouris, Diego Boneta and Alyssa Lynch. This actually looks pretty good, I’m intrigued, and I plan on catching it when it’s in theaters. ›››

  • Voice Actor Strike Continues, as 450 Attend Picket at Ratchet & Clank Office

Voice Actor Strike Continues, as 450 Attend Picket at Ratchet & Clank Office

As the video game voice actor strike continues into its second month, there does not appear to be an end in sight. The latest action came on Thursday, November 17, when approximately 450 SAG-AFTRA members and allies picketed Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive developer Insomniac Games at its HQ in Burbank, California.

This was the union’s fourth picket since the strike against 11 video game companies began on October 21. Previous pickets were held at EA, Warner Bros, and Voiceworks Productions; all combined, around 700 people have attended the pickets in an attempt to have their voices heard.

In a statement, SAG-AFTRA said it believes its picket of Insomniac Games–the largest to date–should help raise awareness for the cause.

“Each picket has brought out more members than the last,” SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris said in a statement. “SAG-AFTRA members and our allies support this action and are continually raising the pressure on the video game companies to come back to the bargaining table with fair proposals so we can reach a deal.”

The picket at Insomniac Games was streamed via Facebook Live, while the hashtag #PerformanceMatters became a trending topic on Twitter in Los Angeles. People at the picket chanted, “2-4-6-8 come on now, negotiate!”

There may not be more physical pickets this year, but SAG-AFTRA said it is planning a number of “virtual actions” to help people get an idea for what they called “the video game corporations’ unfair treatment of SAG-AFTRA performers.”

“The holiday season is a great time for SAG-AFTRA to get its message out because this is when gamers are thinking about new titles, and their favorite characters in those games,” SAG-AFTRA negotiating committee chair Keythe Farley said in a statement. “We’re asking gamers, when you pick up your favorite titles this holiday season, tell the video game corporations how much the voices you hear and the performances you see add to your gaming experience.”

Also in SAG-AFTRA’s statement, the union called out the video game industry’s attorney, who they said is “spouting debunked talking points instead of helping his clients reach a fair deal with SAG-AFTRA.”

Check out GameSpot’s previous coverage of the voice actor strike to learn more about what’s going on and what each side wants.

Overwatch voice actor Crispin Freeman, who voices Winston, spoke to GameSpot recently about the strike and why voice actors matter.

“We negotiated with them for 19 months in good faith,” Freeman said. “It’s the longest negotiation SAG-AFTRA has ever done. It was the last thing we wanted to do, but they left us with no choice.”

  • PES 2017 Data Pack 2 Release Date Announced, Adds Anfield and Classic Liverpool Kits

PES 2017‘s latest big update, Data Pack 2.0, goes live on November 24, publisher Konami has announced. The download includes up-to-date squads and adds over 100 new player faces, as well as Liverpool’s classic kits, their You’ll Never Walk Alone anthem, and their Anfield home. Borussia Dortmund also get their stadium and anthem patched into the game.

Data Pack 1.0 released in October, and included 73 kit updates, including Liverpool’s third kit. PES sure does like Liverpool.

It’s currently not clear whether the release of Data Pack 2.0 will coincide with PES 2017’s PS4 Pro 4K update that’s also coming this month.

We enjoyed the alternative ball-kicking game here at GameSpot, with critic Nathan Ditum awarding it an 8. For more, check out our full PES 2017 review.

  • The Crow Reboot Delayed Again, Jason Momoa Might Not Be Involved

The Crow Reboot Delayed Again, Jason Momoa Might Not Be Involved

Just when it looked like The Crow reboot was finally happening, it has run into further delays. It has been reported that star Jason Momoa may not longer be involved, following the recent purchase of the movie from its production company.

    No Caption Provided

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Crow Reborn has moved from Relativity Media to Davis Films. Momoa was attached to the movie while it was at Relativity, but as the site notes, his involvement now remains unclear. Director Corin Hardy is expected to stay with the movie.

The Crow Reborn has neared production several times now. It was set to start shooting in 2015, until Relativity filed for bankruptcy. Another attempt to make it followed the company’s emergence from administration, but that also stalled. In October, Relativity was put up for sale, and Davis Films have claimed the right to finance, produce, and distribute the movie alongside Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow.

THR states that The Crow Reborn is now expected to start shooting in 2017.

The Crow first appeared on the screen in the 1994 movie, which was adapted from James O’Barr’s comic book. The film was a critical and financial hit, but it was overshadowed by the accidental death of star Brandon Lee on set. An unsuccessful sequel, The Crow: City of Angels, was released in 1996.

  • New Pokemon Sun and Moon Version Coming to Nintendo Switch – Report

Pokemon Sun and Moon may be getting a third version for Nintendo Switch.

That’s according to Eurogamer, which claims “multiple sources” have told it this third Alolan adventure is currently titled Pokemon Stars–though that may just be codename.

Stars was due for release in summer 2017, but has apparently been pushed back to “later in the year” following a brief development hiatus, required for Sun and Moon to be completed on time.

The game is being made at long-time Pokemon dev Game Freak, and will feature higher-resolution assets enabled by the platform’s greater power. It will, however, have the same map, journey, and art style as Sun and Moon–just as earlier third games in the series, like Crystal and Yellow, shared much common ground with Gold/Silver and Red/Blue before them.

If real, Stars would be the first mainline Pokemon game to ever appear on a Nintendo home console. Veteran Pokemon producer Junichi Masuda said recently that Game Freak was “already starting to think about the next title,” and that the timing of release “will determine which platform we would release it on.” This came after an earlier report saying the Switch would receive a new Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda game within six months of launching.

Pokemon Sun and Moon are out now in North America and Japan, while European players have to wait until November 23. Distributer Nintendo said recently that Sun and Moon are the “best pre-selling games in Nintendo history,” while a connection between Pokemon Sun/Moon and Pokemon Go is still in the works.

Check out our Pokemon Sun and Moon review in progress for more on the pair of critter-collecting games.
