BoxBoy, the hero Nintendo’s 2016 needed and star of our “best games of the year” list, will return on the 3DS in February (at least in Japan) with a third game in the series, called Goodbye! BoxBoy! And, more importantly, with BoxBoy Amiibo.
Overwatch’s new 3v3 elimination mode is much more tense than your average match. If you wanna make it downright frightening, though, try playing hide-and-seek.
Defender of the Crown, first released in 1986 on the Amiga, was at the time one of the best-looking video games ever released. Or, at least it was on the Amiga. Some of the game’s ports to other systems weren’t quite so hot, yet in today’s world of YouTube nitpicking they remain useful as examples of how wildly…
“We owe the audience a monster movie.” In addition to the first teaser trailer premiering over the weekend, Universal has revealed a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Alex Kurtzman’s updated monster movie The Mummy. The focus is on introducing us to their “new world of gods and monsters” – since this obviously has to be the beginning of a franchise. The footage in this is actually better than the footage in the trailer Tom Cruise also talks about the movie, covering the cast and the story and much more. Over at SlashFilm, they have some fun quotes about shooting the airplane sequence in zero g in the “vomit comet” airplane. “We’ve got to do it for real.” Cruise loves doing almost all of his stunts for real, and this film is no exception. ›››
With two weeks to go until release, Disney + Lucasfilm are releasing more and more from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to make sure audiences everywhere are crazy excited about seeing this movie. The latest featurette they’ve revealed is a behind-the-scenes peek into the “creature shop”. Director Gareth Edwards and Creature Effects Supervisor Neal Scanlan (who has credits on The Force Awakens, Prometheus, The Golden Compass, Babe, Little Shop of Horrors) gives us a brief glimpse at some of the various creatures in Rogue One and FX magic behind them. There isn’t anything major revealed in this footage, but if you want to stay fresh it’s best to avoid anything else. But for those who want a peek behind the curtain, fire this up. ›››
“I saw her… She is real.” Universal has debuted the first official trailer for the new 2017 version of The Mummy, this time starring Tom Cruise in a movie directed by Alex Kurtzman. Cruise plays Nick Morton, one of the main characters who digs up the new “mummy”, a priestess named Ahmanet played by Sofia Boutella. She unleashes a fury unlike anything seen in modern times, ushering in a “new world of gods and monsters”. The rest of the cast includes Russell Crowe, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Javier Botet. I’m actually a big fan of the 1999 version of The Mummy, and I’m not so sure about this new movie. It looks way too VFX driven and flashy, but it might turn out okay. Take a look below. ›››
It’ll launch on Xbox one on December 9, while PC players can try it out beginning on December 19, Capcom announced on its blog. There will be a “multitude of PC-specific settings and graphics options” on PC, though these were not detailed today.
The Midnight update for the Resident Evil 7 is just the latest tweak for the Beginning Hour demo, as Capcom released a “Twilight” update for it earlier this year. The Midnight update goes even further, allowing players to “explore what lies beyond the mold-covered door, where terrifying growling noises emanate from….”
The PS4 version of the demo includes an optional PlayStation VR mode, while people with a PS4 Pro and a supported TV can experience it in 4K.
Resident Evil 7 launches on January 24, 2017 for all platforms. That’s just a few days before the new movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, comes out in theaters on January 27. Check out the newest trailer for Resident Evil 7 above, while the latest Final Chapter trailer can be seen here.
Here’s something pretty cool. In a bid to promote its new Cheesy Tots, fast food giant Burger King has released a new advertisement starring the characters Napoleon Dynamite (John Heder) and Pedro (Efren Ramirez) from the 2004 comedy Napoleon Dynamite.
“The comeback of the decade is here,” Burger King wrote in the video’s description, which applies to both Napoleon Dynamite and the new tots. The food item, which features a crispy outside and a mixture of potatoes and cheese on the inside, was discontinued in 2009, according to Business Insider, before being recently revived for a new limited-time promotion. Here’s the video:
We all know that a Ben Affleck-directed Batman movie is on the way, but it remains unknown when we will see it. However, the recent confirmation that DC’s Aquaman will arrive in October 2018 suggests that Affleck’s Batman could be released in the summer of that year.
In September, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes stated that the Batman film was “a year and a half out.” The following month, Jeremy Irons, who plays Alfred in DC’s movies, told Variety that “Ben’s going to make a Batman film next summer,” which again points towards a 2018 release.
In an interview last month, Manganiello hinted at what we can expect from the film. “His take is a fresh take but I think the audience is going to be surprised,” he said, via Comicbookmovie. “It’s a road that no one’s really gone down that’s completely integral to who Batman is. And I think it’s gonna be refreshing but at the same time completely familiar. But it’s going to take this franchise in a direction that I think a lot of people are going to be really happy about.
“It’s going to be gritty and action packed and cerebral and all of those elements that people love about Batman.”
