  • Watch Mortal Kombat X Deathmatch on Conan Between Lynch and Gronk

Comedian and late night talk show host Conan O’Brien was joined by American football players Marshawn Lynch and Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski for a Super Bowl “proxy battle” in upcoming fighting game Mortal Kombat X.

Check out the video above to see O’Brien, Lynch, and Gronkowski duke it out in Mortal Kombat X and react with shock and horror to the games fatalities. Lynch also revealed that he usually likes to play Mario Kart, favouring Toad as a driver.

Mortal Kombat X will be released this April for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Earlier today, developer NetherRealm Studios confirmed that Ermac would be making a return to the cast in the game.

Previously, a report was published which allegedly revealed that publishers pay to have their games appear on O’Brien’s Clueless Gamer segment. Past segments have featured Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and an axed episode featuring Minecraft.

  • Destiny Heavy Ammo Bug Being Fixed Soon

Destiny Heavy Ammo Bug Being Fixed Soon

Bungie has revealed it is working on a fix for a bug which affects players in its sci-fi shooter Destiny, which sees players lose ammo for heavy weapons. At the moment, players can lose heavy ammo in player-versus-environment activity when they die, return to orbit, or encounter a cutscene.

Developer Bungie is currently working on a fix for this bug which it hopes to roll out “before the end of February.” According to the developer the bug is complex in nature, which is why it is taking so long to resolve.

“In the end, I came up with a surgical change that fixes the main issue and minimizes the chances that a new problem would be introduced. I do not think I can overstate the complexity of these systems – it took me several tries to come up with a fix that did not cause other problems,” sandbox engineer Jon Cable explained.

Destiny’s next DLC is called House of Wolves. Bungie has said it won’t make the same mistakes in this DLC pack, with plans to improve the progression system.

Of all the major superheroes who can defy the laws of gravity, Thor’s mode of flight seems like one of the most unlikely: spinning his magic hammer Mjolnir around and holding on after flinging it. Is there any way that would actually work? Science actually says yes.

  • Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Neon Demon’ Casts Abbey Lee; More Plot Details Revealed

Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Neon Demon’ Casts Abbey Lee; More Plot Details Revealed

Nicolas Winding Refn on Drive set

Nicolas Winding Refn‘s female-led horror film The Neon Demon has found a new star in Abbey Lee, who’ll join previously cast lead Elle Fanning. That’s the pretty good news. The really great news is that with her comes a host of new details about the mysterious project. To sum up, this film sounds bonkers in a good way.

Get the latest Neon Demon plot details after the jump.

Deadline got the scoop on Lee’s casting, and they also got to reveal some verrrry interesting details about her character Sarah. Since it’s unclear how exactly these plot points fit into the movie, it’s also unclear if they’re big spoilers or just minor details. Consider yourself warned.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here’s how the trade describes Lee’s Sarah:

In Neon Demon, she plays a cool ringleader that other girls want to follow. Envious, emotionally unstable and a tad delusional, she shows her true maniacal colors in the end. After first creeping Jesse out by sucking the blood out of her wound, she ends up killing and later eating Jesse to absorb her virginal youth and beauty.

Fanning will be playing “an aspiring model who is caught in a world of beauty and demise.” Her character’s name was not given, and we don’t know if she’s Jesse.

Refn scripted Neon Demon with Mary Laws. He’s been rather vague about the plot so far, but here’s what he had to say about it last year:

One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women. Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty. After making Drive and falling madly in love with the electricity of Los Angeles, I knew I had to return to tell the story of The Neon Demon. This movie is a manifestation of the strong ties between us and will lead to many more adventures.

Now we have a much better idea of what exactly he means by “vicious beauty.”

Lee is an Australian supermodel-turned-actress who makes her film debut this year in Ruben Guthrie, Brendan Cowell’s adaptation of his own play. She’ll also be seen this summer in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road and next spring in Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt.

Refn is coming off of the indie drama Only God Forgives, which reunited him with Drive star Ryan Gosling. The Neon Demon shoots this spring in Los Angeles. No release date has been set.

  • Disney CEO Confirms Release Years for ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’ and ‘IX,’ Teases More Trilogies

Disney CEO Confirms Release Years for ‘Star Wars Episode VIII’ and ‘IX,’ Teases More Trilogies

    Star Wars sequel trilogy

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18 of this year. The first Star Wars standalone film opens December 16, 2016. After that, we have a good idea of what the next few years have in store for Star Wars but nothing is 100% set in stone. For example, though every single outlet in the world has confirmed Rian Johnson is directing Star Wars Episode VIII, along with the filmmaker himself, the company has yet to acknowledge it. And though we’ve heard there will be a Star Wars movie every single year, only the two dates above are confirmed.

However, the long-term future of Star Wars was recently mentioned by Disney CEO Bob Iger. In a Disney shareholders report, he talked about seeing footage from The Force Awakens, confirmed the release years for the next two films in “this” trilogy, and failed to mention the second standalone film. There’s more, too. Read the extremely loaded Star Wars sequel trilogy quote below.

Get Your Geek On (via Star Wars Underworld) got the report, which includes this statement from Iger:

As one of the few people allowed to visit the set during filming….and one of the fewer who’s seen most of the footage…I can assure the millions of Star Wars fans who have spent the last decade hoping for a new movie this one will be worth the wait. And it’s only the beginning of a new era of exceptional Star Wars storytelling; next year we’ll release our first standalone movie based on these characters, followed by Star Wars: Episode VIII in 2017, and we’ll finish this trilogy with Episode IX in 2019.

I’m almost shocked at how much information and speculation is possible in those two long sentences. Let’s run it down.

    1. Iger has seen most of the footage from The Force Awakens.
    2. He believes it’s “worth the wait.”
    3. He mentions the 2016 standalone movie.
    4. He hints the 2016 standalone movie is about “these characters,” potentially meaning characters from the new movies.
    5. Star Wars Episode VIII will be out in 2017.
    6. There is no mention of a second standalone movie, directed by Josh Trank, hypothetically in 2018.
    7. Star Wars Episode IX will be out in 2019.
    8. He refers to that film as the end of “this trilogy.” That makes it sound like there will be more.

Now, of course we assume there will be more Star Wars after Episode IX concludes the Star Wars sequel trilogy (which Rian Johnson will also most likely direct). But to hear the head of the company hint at stories beyond that, and give us further confirmations of the years to expect those movies, is exciting.

As for the standalone movies, his tease about the 2016 film is curious, as is the omission of the second standalone movie for 2018.

Nevertheless, very cool stuff here. What do you get out of Bob Iger’s Star Wars sequel trilogy statement?
