“No one knows how hard it is… You can never tell who your enemies are. Or who to trust.” Focus Features has unveiled the first official trailer for the drama The Zookeeper’s Wife, set during the beginning of World War II. The film stars Jessica Chastain as Antonina Żabińska, and Johan Heldenbergh as Dr. Jan Żabiński, the owners of the Warsaw Zoo in Poland, who do all they can to defend the zoo and save the animals when the Nazis invade. The full cast includes Daniel Brühl as the Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, as well as Iddo Goldberg, Efrat Dor, Shira Haas, Michael McElhatton and Val Maloku. Aside from all the adorable animals in this, it looks like a heartfelt story of compassionate people trying to do their best to save lives in the middle of a horrible time. I love the use of Sigur Ros, it elevates this further. ›››

“Meet Creech.” Paramount has debuted a brand new trailer (see the first trailer) for the crazy live-action Monster Trucks movie, directed by Chris Wedge, who worked on Ice Age and Robots before making this leap into live-action. You’ve probably heard about this one because Paramount is bracing to lose millions of dollars making this, even though it is still two months out from release. I honestly don’t think it looks that bad, there’s an edge to it that seems like it’s going to be fun – perhaps even moreso than the Transformers movies. This stars Lucas Till, Jane Levy, Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley, and Thomas Lennon. Fire it up and meet a monster. ›››

“This looks like… amateur hour!” Well Go USA has debuted a new US teaser trailer for an action film from China titled Railroad Tigers, about a “ragtag” group of freedom fighters who ambush a military train. Jackie Chan stars, playing a railroad worker who leads a team of skilled fighters trying to take out the Japanese in order to get food for the poor. The rest of the cast includes Huang Zitao, Wang Kai, Darren Wang, Alan Ng and Sang Ping. This looks way too goofy to be really taken seriously, unfortunately. It seems like the kind of film you’d find somewhere in a back corner of your local VHS rental shop, complete with cheap, cheesy VFX. I wished this looked any better, but it seems like it’s going to end up being so bad. ›››

“That’s Kong. He’s king around here.” Universal has unveiled a second trailer for Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ new Kong: Skull Island movie, taking us back to the island where King Kong comes from. This is a reboot of the King Kong origin story and it looks totally, totally awesome. Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson star along with a cast including Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, John C. Reilly, Tian Jing, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, John Ortiz, Thomas Mann, Shea Wigham, Toby Kebbell and Eugene Cordero. Everything about this looks badass, from the cinematography and the sleek visuals, to the various giant monsters they encounter, as well as the entire cast in play. Even John C. Reilly is hilarious! Can’t wait. ›››

Another live-action adaptation of an anime & manga series is coming to the big screen. Aside from Ghost in the Shell, Japan is developing a live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie from director Fumihiko Sori. In the Fullmetal Alchemist world, alchemy is one of the most-practiced sciences. The film is about two brothers who go on a quest for the Philosopher’s Stone (no connection to Harry Potter). It stars Ryôsuke Yamada as Edward Elric, Tsubasa Honda as Winry Rockbell, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, Ryuuta Satou as Maes Hughes, Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Natsuna as Maria Ross, Natsuki Harada as Gracia Hughes, You Ooizumi as Shou Tucker, Jun Kunimura and many others. This first teaser doesn’t have much footage in it, but at least there’s more to see here than the Blade of the Immortal trailer. Take a look. ›››

BFI has debuted a brand new trailer for the 4K restoration re-release of Richard Kelly’s cult classic sci-fi film Donnie Darko. It first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, and quickly became a cult hit. The BFI is now re-releasing it in 4K in cinemas all around the UK this December. Hopefully it’ll show up in the US sometime in 2017. I wasn’t introduced to this film until I was in a sci-fi class in high school, but ever since then, I’ve been a huge fan and have often revisited it. It’s not just the soundtrack or the story, but the whole idea behind it and what it means and what’s going on. I can only imagine what it must’ve been like to see this at its Sundance premiere. Jake Gyllenhaal stars, with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, James Duval, Jena Malone, Noah Wyle and Drew Barrymore. Watch the superb new trailer below. ›››

YouTube channel DefendTheHouse has posted its newest “Myths” video, this one themed around Ubisoft’s just-released open-world hacking game, Watch Dogs 2.
The video tests a number of myths, including if water saves you from fall damage, if you can stack scissor lifts, and if you can complete ScoutX missions even if you kill the target. We won’t spoil the results for you–check out the video (featuring excellent music as usual) to see which myths are busted and which are confirmed.

In other news about Watch Dogs 2, Ubisoft said this week that it will patch the game to remove an explicit texture that showed a vagina. Additionally, the game’s seamless online multiplayer feature was deactivated right before launch because it was causing the game “to lag and crash periodically.”
For more, you can read GameSpot’s review-in-progress of Watch Dogs 2 here. Critic Peter Brown said, “You can have a lot of fun playing Watch Dogs 2 offline, but multiplayer–when it works–shouldn’t be ignored.” He added that the lack of seamless multiplayer at launch is disappointing as the game “needs something like PVP to round out its open-world.
“There are a lot of diversions on the map and plenty of interesting discoveries to make, but the in-game world is on the small side and only sparsely populated with NPCs,” he said.
Watch Dogs 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, and comes to PC on November 29.
