  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season One Is the Series’ Biggest Free Content Update Ever

    Crash and Shipment are back.

Wow, we’re a little bit impressed by this. Activision’s biggest franchise dropped its commitment to the season pass DLC model with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, instead promising a slew of free updates after launch. Developer Infinity Ward has stuck to that with a few minor content drops, but the upcoming Season One update is claiming to be “the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history”.

True to form, there’s rather a lot to take in here. Classic Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer maps Crash, Shipment, and Vacant are making their return alongside three completely new online modes. Those being Reinforce, Gunfight OSP, and Infected. Exciting, right? The fun doesn’t stop there, however, with another new map for Ground War called Port and two weapons named the RAM-7 and Holger-26.

  • Beat Saber Developer Beat Games Acquired by Facebook

    PSVR version still supported.

If you were hoping that a potential sequel to Beat Saber would make its way to a PlayStation VR platform at some point in the future, we’re afraid you’re probably out of luck. The game’s developer has just been acquired by Facebook, meaning its focus will shift to the Oculus range of VR platforms on PC.

Announced on the Oculus blog, the social media bigwig describes the acquisition as a chance to “create new ways for people to experience music and VR gaming.” The PSVR version of Beat Saber will continue to be supported with updates and patches, however. The post makes a point of stressing that content from the studio for its current rhythm game will come to all platforms, but as far as a new title is concerned, we’d be surprised to see it launch on anything but an Oculus device.

  • Rumour: PS Plus December 2019 PS4 Game Potentially Leaked Early

    Come here boy.

The PlayStation Plus line-up for December is always an important one as it will be the two PlayStation 4 games that purchasers of the console during the Christmas season will be able to download straight away. And if this potential leak is anything to go by, anyone subscribed to PS Plus should be rather happy with at least one of the title’s they’ll be able to play as part of the subscription.

Over on Reddit, user BubaManUK has reported that they they are unable to purchase God of War on the PlayStation Store due to the fact that the listing for the standard edition is displaying as free for PS Plus subscribers. Proof of that can be found in the image below.

  • Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? – Issue 299

Do you want to play a game of lucky hit?

Next weekend will mark the 300th issue of WAYP, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. On the precipice of this impressive milestone, join us as we play some darn video games, won’t you? With pretty much all this year’s major releases available now ahead of the holidays, we’re very interested to see what you’re up to.

    Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor

One or two games require my attention this weekend as I ready up some more Mini Reviews. However, I’d also really like to put a bit of time into Tetris Effect, a game I’ve recently remembered is amazing. Ideally I’d like to get through Control as well, but I said that last time and didn’t even pop the disc in. Hopefully I get at least that far this weekend.

  • Hey Look, a Black Friday Advert Has Appeared on the PS4’s Dashboard

But you can get rid of it pretty easily.

Black Friday is kicking off across the web, and that includes Sony’s own PlayStation Store sale. A metric ton of PS4 games are going cheap on the digital storefront, and it’s a sale well worth checking out. In fact, Sony really doesn’t want you to miss out on all the bargain-hunting fun. A big ol’ Black Friday icon has appeared on the PS4’s main menu.

This may not be showing for everyone, and it’s not massively intrusive, but it’s a little annoying to have this big advert pop up on your dashboard. Especially so if you’ve disabled this sort of thing from happening, and it does it anyway. It’s pretty easily dealt with, anyway; you can simply delete the icon as you would any other app on the PS4. If you do want to prevent these promotions from creeping onto your PS4’s dashboard, follow this quick and easy guide on how to disable them.

  • Mini Review: Doctor Who: The Edge of Time – A PSVR Game Only Whovians Could Love

    Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.

It’s always felt like BBC’s campy sci-fi show should be a home run in video games, but it’s rarely translated well to an interactive format. PlayStation VR adventure Doctor Who: The Edge of Time is an effort to change that, but it’s ultimately a bit flat, leaning a little too heavily on fan-pleasing moments instead of breaking new ground.

With the Doctor marooned somewhere in time and space, it’s up to you to solve puzzles, evade monsters, and fly the TARDIS in a bid to save the universe. Using the Move controllers, you’re able to interact with certain objects and wield a sonic screwdriver as you explore a handful of short levels. Motion tracking is fine, and there are one or two clever puzzles to decipher, but there’s a strange lack of instruction at points. Starting the game, it doesn’t tell you the controls, and you’re often left to figure out what you’re meant to be doing until a dialogue hint ushers you in the right direction.

  • Persona 5 Royal Release Date Tease Prompts State of Play Speculation

    Calling card.

Persona 5 Royal is already available in Japan, but an announcement for Western territories will be made on 3rd December at 9AM PT. This just so happens to coincide with the 25th Anniversary of PlayStation, prompting fresh speculation that a new State of Play could debut before Christmas. Seeing as a countdown has been added to the popular role-playing game’s website, we think it’s unlikely this particular announcement is connected to Sony’s livestream series.

In reality, publisher Atlus has already confirmed that The Phantom Thieves will return this coming spring in Europe and North America, so expect to mark yet another date in your already-hectic 2020 calendar.

Update: Adding further fuel to the fire, VGC has reported that it’s been told by a “number of sources” that a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake is in production and is scheduled for release next year.

Original Article: A remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis has been rumoured since the successful release of Resident Evil 2 earlier this year, but it looks like an announcement could be imminent. Spawn Wave – who’s been credited with leaking multiple titles, including Elden Ring – claims that a revival of the PSone survival horror is in-development at Capcom, and is targeting a release next year.

  • Sony Promotes PS4 Remote Play During Google Stadia Launch Week

    Play anywhere.

Sony’s already combated Google Stadia by significantly dropping the price of PlayStation Now and adding tentpole titles like God of War and Grand Theft Auto V, but the platform holder’s also eager to point out that you can play PlayStation 4 around the house using Remote Play.

The manufacturer recently upgraded this feature, of course, adding support for the DualShock 4 in both Android and iOS. Expect the organisation to continue its efforts in this area well into the PlayStation 5 generation and beyond, as it attempts to make its console more convenient to use.
