First Trailer for Awkward Comedy 'Born Guilty' with Rosanna Arquette

    Born Guilty Trailer

“What happens when you secretly pay someone to romance your Mom?” Freestyle Media has debuted an official trailer for a cute New York-set indie romantic comedy titled Born Guilty, from writer/director Max Heller. The ensemble comedy is about a mother and her son, both intervening in their lives a bit too much. Acclaimed actress Rosanna Arquette (of Pulp Fiction, After Hours, The Whole Nine Yards, Desperately Seeking Susan) stars as a “lonely and frazzled New York social worker.” Her son is played by Jay Devore, and he decides to setup his free-spirited Australian friend Rawl, as played by David Coussins, with his mother – all the while trying to balance his own relationship, too. The cast includes Keesha Sharp, Anna Lore, Jay Klaitz, John Lavelle, and Xander Berkeley. This looks pretty bad, but have a look anyway. ›››

    211 Trailer

“Shots fired! Shots fired!” Momentum Pictures has released the official trailer for an action thriller titled 211, or #211, which is a reference to the police code “211” – meaning a robbery in progress. Inspired by one of the “longest and bloodiest bank heists in history”, the film is described as a combination of End of Watch meets Black Hawk Down. Does it look like that description? See for yourself below. Nicolas Cage stars as a police officer who takes a civilian on a ride along, then gets caught up in this violent bank robbery heist. In addition to Cage, it also stars Cory Hardrict, Michael Rainey Jr., Ori Pfeffer, Weston Cage, Sophie Skelton and Alexandra Dinu. This looks like an all-out, action-packed, very intense bank robbery movie. ›››

First Full Trailer for Jon M. Chu's 'Crazy Rich Asians' Romantic Comedy

    Crazy Rich Asians Trailer

“These people aren’t just rich, they’re CRAZY rich.” Warner Bros has unveiled the first official trailer for a new comedy titled Crazy Rich Asians, the latest film directed by Jon M. Chu (Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Now You See Me 2), which is actually more of a romantic comedy. The film features an international cast, led by Constance Wu and Henry Golding – making his feature film debut; along with Gemma Chan, Lisa Lu, Awkwafina, Harry Shum Jr., Ken Jeong, Michelle Yeoh, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, Jimmy O. Yang, Ronny Chieng, Remi Hii, Nico Santos, and Jing Lusi. The story follows a not-so-rich women from New York who accompanies her boyfriend to a friend’s wedding in Singapore, only to discover his family is extremely wealthy and his mom doesn’t like her. This doesn’t look as great as I was hoping, but at least it looks entertaining and way smarter than most comedies. ›››

  • First Trailer for Disneynature's Next Movie 'Penguins' Opening in 2019

First Trailer for Disneynature's Next Movie 'Penguins' Opening in 2019

    Penguins Trailer

“He’s looking for love.” Disneynature has unveiled the first fun trailer for their next feature documentary, titled Penguins, arriving in theaters on Earth Day 2019. It’s Disneynature’s tradition to always preview their next film a year ahead of release on the Earth Day before, and they’re doing that again with this one. Penguins is actually focused on mainly one little penguin, who stands out – an adorable little guy named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. This looks remarkably adorable and so much fun, but that’s of course because these filmmakers are experts, by now, at crafting very clever narrative stories around cute animals from this beautiful Earth we live on. So much amazing footage! I just hope it makes us all care more about our planet. ›››

  • Trailer for Psychological Thriller 'A Good Dream' with Melany Bennett

Trailer for Psychological Thriller 'A Good Dream' with Melany Bennett

    A Good Dream Trailer

“There is a demon stuck in your skin.” Or is it just a tattoo? Freestyle Digital Media has released an official trailer for an indie psychological thriller titled A Good Dream, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Mahum Jamal, which premiered at a few smaller film festivals last year. The film is a very trippy, fanciful, creative thriller about a girl in her 20s trying to find herself living in New York City. When she suddenly finds herself haunted by a presence, she has trouble distinguishing fiction from reality and falls deeper into a world of her perceptions. Melany Bennett stars as Uma, with a cast including Karim Saleh, Victoria Atkin, and Kayvon Zand. This looks very cool, but I’m not sure how good it will really be – not much buzz around it in any way. Worth a look, especially for the clever animated touches added throughout. See below. ›››

  • Official Trailer for the 50th Anniversary Re-Release of Kubrick's '2001'

Official Trailer for the 50th Anniversary Re-Release of Kubrick's '2001'

    2001: A Space Odyssey Trailer

“Open the pod bay doors, HAL.” Warner Bros has unveiled a brand new trailer for the 50th anniversary re-release of Stanley Kubrick’s seminal sci-fi masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey. We’ve already written about this before, since Christopher Nolan will be presenting a new 70mm print, struck from the original negative, at the Cannes Film Festival this May. After it premieres at the festival, WB will then prepare for a nationwide re-release in theaters all over America. “Kubrick (who co-wrote the screenplay with Arthur C. Clarke) first visits our prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leaps millennia (via one of the most mind-blowing jump cuts ever) into colonized space, and ultimately whisks astronaut Bowman (Keir Dullea) into uncharted space, perhaps even into immortality.” The movie won one Oscar in 1969 for Best Special Visual Effects. Now is your chance to see it again on the big screen. Get hyped with the new trailer (which shows the end!). ›››

    Downrange Trailer

“Hell is on the way.” Shudder has released an official trailer for a dark horror, thriller titled Downrange, the latest feature from Japanese genre filmmaker Ryuhei Kitamura (of Versus, The Midnight Meat Train, No One Lives, Lupin the Third). The film is about a group of friends who end up the target of a distant, vicious, hidden sniper after they pop a tire driving cross country. The film’s cast includes Kelly Connaire, Stephanie Pearson, Rod Hernandez-Farella, Anthony Kirlew, Alexa Yeames, and Jason Tobias. This is basically a terrifying sniper survival movie on a dusty country road with no one around. The shot of the sniper in this trailer is very slick, and the way it builds is intense. Looks like a helluva scary sniper film. ›››

Trailer for Underrated Filmmaking Doc 'Filmworker' About Leon Vitali

    Filmworker Trailer

“Stanley assigned Leon to me.” Kino Lorber has debuted a trailer for the indie documentary Filmworker, telling the story of “filmworker” and Stanley Kubrick’s right-hand man Leon Vitali. This is a MUST see for film geeks and cinephiles, a fascinating look behind-the-scenes. Most probably don’t know who Leon Vitali is, that’s because he never was in the spotlight at all, but once you see this doc everything will change. Vitali started out as an up-and-coming actor in England, first landing a bigger role in Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon as Lord Bullingdon. From there he gave up everything and devoted his life to Kubrick and started working behind-the-scenes as his right hand man, helping him in everything from editing to directing and so much more. This is a superb doc that is also another rare look at how Kubrick worked, what he was like on sets and how he made his masterpieces. It’s an underrated gem, worth a watch whenever you can catch it. ›››
