Watch: First Behind-the-Scenes Video for 007's Next Movie 'Spectre'

    Spectre Behind-the-Scenes

“Above all we have to deliver an amazing sequence.” I love James Bond. Eon Productions, the company behind the 007 films, does some of the smartest and most effective marketing in all of Hollywood. During the lead up to Skyfall, they released production diaries during filming to give us a hint at what was coming. With the next film, Spectre, currently filming with director Sam Mendes at the helm they’re launching the production diaries again and the first one has arrived. This first video takes us to the snowy mountain top set they’re filming at now in Austria, and it looks amazing. I can’t believe they’re showing this much this early. I’ve got a feeling this is Sam Mendes doing his own On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and I can’t wait. ›››

  • ‘The Legend of Zelda’ Netflix Series: Our Choices For Link, Zelda, Ganon and a Showrunner

    Legend of Zelda netflix

Netflix and Nintendo are at work potentially developing a TV series based on The Legend of Zelda. The news broke last week and got video game fans salivating. Sure there was a short lived Zelda TV show many years ago, but a Nintendo property hasn’t been adapted into a big budget, live-action…well…anything since the early Nineties. And The Legend of Zelda has long been at the top of fan’s wish lists for a new show of movie.

But what is the show going to be? All we know at the moment is Nintendo and Netflix want a family friendly show with the aesthetic of Game of Thrones. Okay, but how old will Link be? Zelda? Which will be the main character? Is Ganon the bad guy? What story will they use? At this point, without a script or showrunner, all options are likely on the table.

Since most of The Legend of Zelda games are about younger characters, that how we went with our casting wishlist. We tried to pick actors who, for the most part, aren’t super famous but are age appropriate. Actors both in the box and way outside it. The resulting list features lots of people who you may or may not have heard of, but you wouldn’t be surprised to hear were cast on a Netflix show. That’s not to say we didn’t stretch here or there.

So below, we’ve got our own Legend of Zelda Netflix casting wishlist for Link, Zelda, Ganon and then a writer/showrunner/director type. Check it out.

    Link Legend of Zelda

    Link

Note: For this role I tried to pick actors who embody one, or all, of the Link characteristics you think of. Some have a Link look about them. Others, you’d totally buy as a quiet nobody who then grows into a hero. I even threw in a few who are almost wholly unheroic – like The Windwaker version of the character instead of the Skyward Sword one. Also – I tried to keep them under 21, with one exception.

    Thomas Brodie-Sangster

    Thomas Brodie-Sangster

You know Brodie-Sangster from Game of Thrones, The Maze Runner, and looking pretty much exactly like Link from The Legend of Zelda. For that reason, and the fact he’s a really good actor with a strong fanbase, the 24-year-old actor is the one age exception on this list.

    Sean Giambrone

    Sean Giambrone

The star of The Goldbergs might not look like an imposing hero and that’s exactly the point. He looks kind of meek, but time and time again he’s proved on the ABC show that he’s not. Even at 15, Giambrone has got fire in him. For that reason, I think he’d be a great Link.

    Ross Lynch

    Ross Lynch

Lynch is one of two pop-stars on this list, but he also happens to be a Disney Channel star. He can act, sing, has a huge fan base and those very clean cut good looks you’d imagine the actor who plays Link would have. He’s 19.

    Alex Esmail

    Alex Esmail

If John Boyega can go from the Block to Star Wars, why can’t 21-year-old Alex Esmail go to The Legend of Zelda? We know he’s charasmatic and funny, but also a little subversive. Is he good? Is he bad? Is he scared? Is he not? The actor could definitely bring some charm and depth to the role.

    Jaden Smith

    Jaden Smith

We all know Jaden Smith is a little crazy. His Twitter feed is legendary. But lots of the best actors are crazy and Smith is a really good actor when he wants to be. He’s got box office clout and at 16, lots of heroic leading roles under his belt. Link could be just another notch on it.

    Jack Griffo

    Jack Griffo

Frankly, I don’t know alot about Jack Griffo. He’s 18, he’s on the Nickelodeon show The Thundermans and got his start in Sound of My Voice. But when you’re looking at casts of teen shows, no one popped out more as “Link” than he did.

    Ty Simpkins

    Ty Simpkins

Ty Simpkins is too young and too small to be Link. Which is exactly why he’d make a good choice for the role. The essence of the character is an unassuming young boy becoming a man; how awesome would it be to see Simpkins go from innocent to ultimate bad-ass? The 13-year-old could pull it off plus, by the time Zelda gets going, he’ll be older.

    Harry Styles

    Harry Styles

This is only partially a joke. Boy band stardom doesn’t last forever and Harry Styles, the popular 21-year-old star of One Direction, is on schedule to find that out any month now. His stardom could probably get him an audition for this role, he’s obviously got the look and it would bring in a slew of young viewers who probably wouldn’t care otherwise.

    Joel Courtney

    Joel Courtney

If it’s good enough for J.J. Abrams, it’s good enough for Nintendo. Courtney, now 19, was the star of Super 8 back in 2011. He’s since kept busy with a series of smaller movies but that first one proved he could go from anonymous to hero over the course of a film. Think what he could do over the course of a series.

    Chandler Riggs

    Chandler Riggs

Playing Carl on The Walking Dead, Chandler Riggs has already gone from zero to hero. Will he want to stay on TV once that’s done? We don’t know, but a more family friendly version of that arc, with some swords, shields and horses, would probably suit him just fine. He’s 15, he’s got a fan base and a lot of talent.

  • The /Filmcast: Bonus Ep. – Matthew Margeson, Co-Composer of ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’

    Kingsman

Kingsman: The Secret Service is the first great action film of 2015, a  delightful riff on British spy movies that manages to bring a modern sensibility to its incredibly choreographed action set pieces. Thus, it was with great pleasure that I interviewed Matthew Margeson, who wrote the score for Kingsman along with co-composer Henry Jackman. The score is a delight, with an enjoyable theme that has hints of “British elegance and charm,” as Margeson puts it.

  • LOL: Harry Potter Meets Muggle Magic

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

As Muggles, we oohed and ahhed over the magical world introduced in the Harry Potter series. But what would happen if Harry and his wizard pals encountered Muggle magic? You know, the kind that Gob Bluth, Barney Stinson, and the Four Horsemen like to practice? A hilarious parody video answers just that question. Watch it after the jump.

  • ‘Mission: Impossible 5′ Will Open in IMAX

    Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol

Ethan Hunt’s next jet-setting, death-defying international adventure will be just as big as his last one. Paramount and IMAX announced today that Mission: Impossible 5 will play in IMAX when it hits theaters July 31. Because if Tom Cruise is going to strap himself to a plane at 5,000 feet, he’s gonna make damn sure we can drink in every little detail. Get all the info on the Mission Impossible 5 IMAX release after the jump.

The press release from Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions, Bad Robot, and IMAX Corporation notes that Mission: Impossible 5 is being digitally remastered for the IMAX format. Unlike Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, it doesn’t seem to have any scenes actually shot in IMAX. Which is too bad, because the native IMAX scenes of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol were some of the best parts.

Nevertheless, everyone involved sounds just thrilled about the impending Mission Impossible 5 IMAX release. Said Cruise: “IMAX is so important in giving the audience the best experience of the film we have made. I am very happy to have this partnership on the next Mission.”

IMAX exec Greg Foster added, “This film was literally made for IMAX and summer moviegoing.”

And Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore chimed in, “Audiences the world over proved with the last Mission that the IMAX experience is not to be missed and so we are all thrilled to again partner with Rich, Greg and everyone at IMAX to bring this next exciting installment to their screens this summer.”

The last Mission: Impossible was indeed a big success, earning nearly $700 million at the global box office. Collectively, the four Mission: Impossible movies so far have grossed over $2 billion worldwide.

Christopher McQuarrie is directing this time around, while Cruise returns in the lead. Also back from previous installments are Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames. Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Sean Harris join the series for the first time. Cruise, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing.

  • Henry Cavill is a Higher Class of Hero in 'Man from U.N.C.L.E.' Trailer

Henry Cavill is a Higher Class of Hero in 'Man from U.N.C.L.E.' Trailer

    The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

If Superman just isn’t your class of hero, then maybe it’s time to check out Henry Cavill as CIA agent Napoleon Solo and Armie Hammer as his unlikely KGB agent counterpart Illya Kuryakin in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Based on the classic TV series of the same names, these two agents must team up to stop a massive international criminal organization. The first trailer has just arrived, and it certainly feels like a Guy Ritchie film, complete with some sexy 60s style and panache. Cavill is doing a pretty interesting accent and voice (inspired by the series?), and Hammer goes full Russian. It doesn’t look half-bad. Watch! ›››

  • Watch: Bradley Cooper in First Trailer for Cameron Crowe's 'Aloha'

Watch: Bradley Cooper in First Trailer for Cameron Crowe's 'Aloha'

    Aloha

You are going to wear this like Flava Flav wears a clock.” It’s been awhile since we had a story from Almost Famous and Jerry Maguire director Cameron Crowe, and now he’s finally back with a little self-discovery romance that’s been in the works for years. Aloha stars Bradley Cooper as a military contractor who is sent back to his old stomping grounds in Hawaii. There he reconnects with an old ex-girlfriend (Rachel McAdams), which looks like a struggle in itself in this first trailer, but also finds a new spark with Emma Stone, a lively young lady in the Air Force. This looks like it’s hard to capture in a trailer, but I’m intrigued so far, mainly because this looks to be a great role for Bill Murray. Watch below! ›››

  • New Line is Set to Remake New Zealand Horror Hit 'Housebound'

New Line is Set to Remake New Zealand Horror Hit 'Housebound'

    Housebound

For some reason, Hollywood just loves to take great, original films and remake them for American audiences. It’s mostly due to the lack of appeal of unknown international cast members, or sometimes trying to avoid excluding stupid people who don’t like subtitles. And nowhere is this more true than in the horror genre. There are countless foreign horror films remade for American audiences and one more has just been added to the pile. THR reports the remake rights to the New Zealand horror film Housebound have been picked up by New Line. Not even a foreign film that has accented English can avoid the remake machine. ›››

  • ‘Hot Pursuit’ Trailer: Reese Witherspoon Escorts Sofia Vergara

    Hot Pursuit trailer

We’ve seen the “cop on the run with an endangered witness” plot before, but with Reese Witherspoon as the cop and Sofia Vergara as the witness, things take a couple turns that are probably new to the genre. Hot Pursuit casts Witherspoon as a straight-laced, possibly inept cop who is charged with escorting Vergara, the widow of a drug dealer, to a safe location. The first Hot Pursuit trailer shows all sorts of antics as the two attempt to survive the journey.

Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses), directs, and Hot Pursuit also features John Carroll Lynch, Rob Kazinsky, and Richard T. Jones. (Oh, and Jim Gaffigan, whose cameo kinda steals the trailer.) The film looks like a big comedy with a little bit of action — maybe in the vein of Heat, with a little Midnight Run thrown in. It’s fun seeing Witherspoon being loose and kind of goofy, and the film throws her personality against Vergara’s Modern Family-honed approach to comedy, maybe to good effect.

Hot Pursuit will be released on May 8. Trailer via People.

An uptight and by-the-book cop (Reese Witherspoon) tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (Sofia Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen.
