Second Trailer for Baumbach's 'Mistress America' with Greta Gerwig

    Mistress America Trailer

“Being around Brooke made you want to find life, not hide from it.” Fox Searchlight has just debuted the second trailer for Noah Baumbach’s Mistress America, starring Greta Gerwig and Lola Kirke as two unlikely friends in New York City. Kirke plays the younger one, a college freshmen at Columbia, who follows around her older soon-to-be stepsister Brooke, played by Gerwig. It’s a look at this generation and how they’re not so bad, even though everything seems so bad about them. Trust me, it’s not as bad as it seems. Oh no, this sounds bad… Anyway, it’s a bit different than Frances Ha and nothing like While We’re Young, but it does have the same unique spunk that can be found in all of Baumbach’s films. Don’t forget to laugh. ›››

Teaser Trailer for Angelina Jolie Pitt's 'By the Sea' Starring Brad Pitt

    By the Sea Trailer

“Do you wanna hurt me? Hurt me!” Universal has debuted the first official trailer + a poster for Angelina Jolie Pitt’s By the Sea, a period romance starring Brad Pitt and of course, Angelina Jolie Pitt herself as well. The cast includes Mélanie Laurent, Melvil Poupaud, Niels Arestrup and Sarah Naudi. It was filmed around Malta, an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. Truthfully, this really just seems like Pitt and Pitt – or rather Angelina and Brad – having “fun” doing a movie together where they can dress up and explore all these crazy emotions in a romantic story set in a beautiful location in the past. I’m definitely intrigued, this trailer is a very alluring tease. Take a look below. ›››

  • One Final Global Trailer for 'Hitman: Agent 47' Starring Rupert Friend

One Final Global Trailer for 'Hitman: Agent 47' Starring Rupert Friend

    Hitman: Agent 47

“47 – you are a legend.” “I’m better.” 20th Century Fox has debuted one final crazy epic, operatic trailer for Hitman: Agent 47, which unleashes action fury like all hell. I actually really am very, very excited for this, there’s just something crazy fun about it and I’m looking forward to watching it. Cheesy as it may be, whatever, it looks entertaining – the action looks keenly choreographed and I love the sleek feeling of every detail with 47. Rupert Friend stars as Agent 47, and he goes against Zachary Quinto, who looks like he can kick some ass as well. Hannah Ware plays Katia van Dees, and the cast also includes Ciarán Hinds, Thomas Kretschmann and Emilio Rivera. If you still need any convincing – give this last trailer a look. ›››

  • Sony Confirms 2017 + 2019 Release Dates for 'Bad Boys 3 & 4' Sequels

    Sony Confirms 2017 + 2019 Release Dates for 'Bad Boys 3 & 4' Sequels

    Bad Boys

Briefly: Sony Pictures has announced a number of upcoming release dates, confirming and revealing a few new titles across the next four years. Among the titles listed are two sequels we knew were coming, but now they officially have release dates. Bad Boys 3 and 4 are now set for release in 2017 and 2019, respectively. As of reports in June, rumors were that Joe Carnahan was going to write & direct Bad Boys 3, reuniting Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for another outing. Michael Bay may still be involved as a producer, but he’s busy off making another Transformers aside from that 13 Hours movie. Well now we know there’s definitely two new Bad Boys movies coming, two years apart. I just hope they’re worth the long wait and all this hype. ›››

  • Watch: Trailer for Anthony Hopkins & Colin Farrell in 'Solace' Thriller

Watch: Trailer for Anthony Hopkins & Colin Farrell in 'Solace' Thriller

    Solace Trailer

“I’ve wanted to meet you for the longest time… Can’t believe we’re finally face-to-face.” The first trailer for a serial killer thriller called Solace, or Prémonitions, recently debuted and if you haven’t seen it you can check it out below. The film stars Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell, one a psychic, the other a serial killer, who battle mind-to-mind. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Abbie Cornish, Marley Shelton and Xander Berkeley also star. This looks like it has some interesting twists and turns, with that psychic imagery playing out in unique ways. I’m curious to find out what’s going on, but not sure how good it’ll be in the end. ›››

Watch: Lewis Bond's Exceptional Video Essay on Color in Storytelling

    Color in Storytelling

If you need an inspirational lesson in visual storytelling – start with this video. Lewis Bond has edited and presented an exceptional video essay titled Color in Storytelling (or “Colour” as they spell it) that looks at the various uses of color in cinema. This isn’t a 2-minute YouTube mash-up, this is a very well-researched, intensive deep dive look at color, examining its history and first uses in cinema in the early 1900s, all the way to modern techniques with filmmakers like Wes Anderson and Ang Lee and George Lucas. I love how much explanation there is, and how many examples of actual footage he uses, as it really helps explain and connect so much of what he’s saying. As usual, watching this makes me want to see every film he references. ›››

  • Second Breathtaking Trailer for Baltasar Kormákur's 'Everest' Movie

Second Breathtaking Trailer for Baltasar Kormákur's 'Everest' Movie

    Everest Trailer #2

“There is a massive storm headed your way!” Catch the second trailer for Baltasar Kormákur’s Everest movie, the intense adventure thriller based on the real story of a climb up Mount Everest gone bad. We’ve seen one trailer and a featurette already, but this second one shows a bit more and has a breathtaking “holy crap!” feeling. There’s also some very tricky editing, as that part where Josh Brolin is climbing over the big crevasse on the ladder is not actually after the scene where they reach the summit, that’s part of the climb very early on on the mountain. But it all ties together at the end, and they really sell the intensity and sheer awe of this. I really can’t wait to see it! Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley & Emily Watson. See the trailer below. ›››
