“It’s an honor to be part of the process.” Warner Bros has unveiled a fascinating featurette on the making of Creed, the new film from director Ryan Coogler starring Michael B. Jordan as Adonis, Apollo Creed’s son. We’ve already featured a few trailers already and have seen plenty of footage, and it looks great, but this is an interesting behind-the-scenes look at what went into the filmmaking process, the many decisions, their inspirations. Sylvester Stallone is involving in this quite a bit, as the video finally connects directly back to Rocky and even he admits it’s a continuation of the legacy of those movies with a new generation. Get ready for Star Wars Mania. To follow-up the new trailer and ticket sales, AMC has revealed the first poster in a series that will be debuting each week after the movie’s opening. IMAX announced (via their blog) and AMC tweeted about a promo they’re hosting on Sundays, where those seeing Star Wars – The Force Awakens in IMAX will receive a new poster each week designed by artist Dan Mumford. Here’s the text: “Each Sunday, from December 20 to January 10, guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX 3D will receive an AMC-exclusive Star Wars print from artist Dan Mumford. “Please sir, stay calm! Let me play my role while you play yours!” Take a look at this fun, short film about a crop circle tour guide getting into a spat with her tour guests. Cropped is directed by filmmaker Chris Thomas and is an amusing Homespun Yarns film about the “Crop Hops: Circles of Life” tour to go see real crop circles. It’s a nicely made short on a very limited budget, focusing on the story and atmosphere more than anything. Yes, the VFX are a bit weak when they show up, but I like the music, and the overall feel of the short is impressive for something this small. Nice work. A good short to get you in a scary movie mood. ›››

Check your local cinema’s website for more info, and don’t forget there are special seven-movie marathons happening at a good selection of movie theater chains around the country. Midnight and slightly earlier evening shows begin at 7PM on Thursday, December 17th, before the opening on Friday, December 18th coming up in two months. The only bad news – by the time anyone reads this, most of those shows have already been sold out nationwide. “Look around you, James… everything you ever stood for… a ruin!” Sony Pictures has unveiled two kick ass, action-packed new TV spots for the next Bond movie Spectre, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007. The most recent spot just debuted this weekend, and will likely be showing on TV in primetime spots starting this week. This looks so amazing and I really can’t wait to see it, Bond at his best with lots of characters and twisted plots and a formidable villain. I’m still very curious to see whether Christoph Waltz is who we all think he is, and why Léa Seydoux is so important she’s always with Bond, or if there is someone else hiding in the shadows running SPECTRE. In the announcement of the new poster yesterday, they included brief details about marathon screenings being planned around the country. The “Star Wars Marathon Event” is the ultimate fan experience: “All seven movies. One epic journey. Guests will see each of the six previously released Star Wars episodes in digital 2D beginning with The Phantom Menace and concluding with the opening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 3D!” This is the ultimate Star Wars experience, and I already know a few friends planning to camp out just for this event. ›››

“If we just work together then we can save our sh*tty town!” Sony has debuted the official red band trailer for a very gory, very wacky horror comedy called Freaks of Nature. The film is based on a popular Black List script by Oren Uziel called The Kitchen Sink, which is a horror-sci-fi-comedy mashup that combines vampires, zombies, and aliens. This has a great comedian ensemble cast including Keegan-Michael Key, Bob Odenkirk, Patton Oswalt, Denis Leary, plus Joan Cusack, Vanessa Hudgens, Mackenzie Davis, Nicholas Braun and Ed Westwick. All hail Caesar! This is awesome. Filmmaker Matt Reeves posted a must see photo to his Twitter account this weekend to commemorate the start of shooting on the next film, War of the Planet of the Apes. The shot shows a motion-capture person (the ape) approaching a horse with someone on it, on a very murky beach. Over at SlashFilm they say this beach is very reminiscent of the one from the end of the original 1968 Planet of the Apes, when they find the Statue of the Liberty. That would be a pretty obvious connection, but who knows exactly what part they’re shooting here. Could be an entirely new scene but it’s still very cool, and I’m excited more than ever to see Reeves continue this story. Filming just started on this Apes sequel. ›››
