    Star Trek Beyond Trailer

“We will find hope in the impossible…” Paramount has debuted the first trailer for Justin Lin’s Star Trek Beyond, the next Star Trek movie in the series restarted in 2009 by J.J. Abrams. This trailer has quite an interesting vibe, much more energetic and funky, with tons of wacky aliens and lots of weird action. I’m not sure I like where this is headed? The full cast includes all the returning Enterprise crew members: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin. Plus Joe Taslim, Sofia Boutella, and Idris Elba. I really don’t like the music, but then again, they are playing this trailer in front of Star Wars and have to compete directly with that movie. I’m not that excited. You? ›››

    High Rise Teaser Trailer

Join us. And watch this informational video on the High Rise building, where you will find luxury around every corner. StudioCanal has debuted a brilliant new teaser trailer for Ben Wheatley’s High Rise, the film adapted from J.G. Ballard’s novel about the structure of a capitalistic society found within one high rise apartment building. Tom Hiddleston stars as the man who runs the whole thing. The cast includes Luke Evans, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, James Purefoy, Elisabeth Moss, and Keeley Hawes. We ran two strong reviews for this film from festivals earlier in the year, and I’m already looking forward to seeing it. This teaser has me even more intrigued. Must Watch: First Trailer for 'Independence Day: Resurgence' Arrives

    Independence Day: Resurgence

“We always knew they would come back.” Damn! This looks epic. 20th Century Fox has unveiled the first full trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence, the long-awaited sequel to the sci-fi hit Independence Day, which hit theaters back in 1996 (if you can believe it – 20 years ago!). Roland Emmerich is back in the director’s chair going even bigger and more explosive with this alien invasion sequel. The extraterrestrials that tried to take over the world before are back, and they seem really pissed, bringing a whole new arsenal. Jeff Goldblum, Brent Spiner, Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pullman return, joined by Liam Hemsworth, Maika Monroe, Charlotte Gainsbourg and others. This looks pretty good, better than I was expecting. ›››

Official Trailer for Corneliu Porumboiu's 'The Treasure' from Romania

    The Treasure Trailer

“There’s something big here.” IFC Films has debuted the new official US trailer for Romanian filmmaker Corneliu Porumboiu’s latest feature The Treasure. Porumboiu is most well known for his award-winning films 12:08 East of Bucharest and Police, Adjective, and this time takes on small time adventure when a peaceful man becomes obsessed with treasure buried in his garden. The film stars Toma Cuzin, Adrian Purcarescu, and Corneliu Cozmei. It premiered Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival and won the “A Certain Talent Prize” for the masterful narration. It seems to have a unique dead pan vibe with some wacky things going on in this man’s pursuit for treasure, which seems to be more about his own happiness. ›››

  • IMAX's New 'Behind the Frame' Featurette for 'The Force Awakens'

IMAX's New 'Behind the Frame' Featurette for 'The Force Awakens'

Star Wars - IMAX Behind the Frame

“It’s true. All of it.” IMAX has launched another new featurette for Star Wars: The Force Awakens with a week left to go until opening. This doesn’t really feature any new footage that we haven’t seen before, so everyone trying to steer clear of any more footage before next week, this video is okay. The featurette is a reminder that The Force Awakens has at least one major sequence (on Jakku) filmed with IMAX cameras, and the entire cast talks about how the format enhances the experience. We’re so close, and as much as I still wish this was shot entirely on IMAX cameras, I’ll take one good sequence. “When you go to see a movie in that format you know you’re going to get something that is the best version of going out to the movies.” ›››

The huge cast for this includes all the young fresh new faces: James McAvoy as Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Rose Byrne as Moira, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Evan Peters as (fan favorite) Quicksilver, and Ben Hardy as Angel. Plus there’s Lucas Till as Havok, Alexandra Shipp taking over as Storm, and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler (who I’m glad is back). This actually looks a bit better than expected, with some very epic footage once Apocalypse arrives. Dive in! ›››
