    Amateur Night Trailer

“You ready for your 15 minutes, Big Daddy?” Cinedigm has released an official trailer for the upcoming comedy Amateur Night, which feels more like a mainstream studio movie even though it’s an indie film. Jason Biggs plays Guy Carter, an insecure expectant father who, unable to find work in his field, accepts a job driving hookers around Los Angeles. The cast includes Janet Montgomery, Ashley Tisdale, Bria L. Murphy, Jenny Mollen and Steven Weber. The synopsis even so cheesy it says, “one long and crazy evening proves to our hero that he is, in fact, up to the task of fatherhood.” Yep, looks pretty bad. Have fun. ›››

Review: 'Captain America: Civil War' is a Fantastic Start to Marvel's Phase Three

    Captain America: Civil War

Let’s be honest for a moment, shall we? We’ve all wanted to punch Tony Stark in the face from time to time. All the good Iron Man does makes up for the smarmy attitude and sarcastic tone, but only just. Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., is an idealist with unwavering beliefs, kind of like the other head of The Avengers, Captain America. It was only a matter of time before these two butted heads, and it’s here where Captain America: Civil War, the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, picks its own punches. The 13th movie in the MCU has no issues when it comes to entertainment. Marvel’s Kevin Feige and the people behind these films perfected the formula long ago, and Civil War is their first, real chance at shaking up the dynamic of the team. Nothing goes to waste in the process, and Civil War handily earns its stripes as more ›››

    The Land Trailer

“Do you even care about your future?” IFC Films has debuted a great teaser trailer for a film called The Land, which originally premiered at Sundance earlier this year. The film is about four teean “buddies” Cisco, Boobie, Junior, and Patty Cake skateboarding around the streets of Cleveland, Ohio. They find a bag of pills and think it might be their ticket to glory, that is until they encounter the “cold, calculating, and notorious drug queenpin, ‘Momma,’ who runs the toughest gang in town.” The cast features Erykah Badu, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jorge Lendeborg Jr, Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Ezri Walker, Machine Gun Kelly, & Kim Coates. This actually looks like it might be pretty damn good. Check this out. ›››

It's Official: Alden Ehrenreich Cast as Young Han Solo in the Spin-Off

    Alden Ehrenreich

Well, there we have it. Sources are reporting that it’s now official that young actor Alden Ehrenreich will play young Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off movie. As we already know, co-directors Chris Miller & Phil Lord are working on the new Han Solo solo movie, due in theaters in 2018, and they’ve been hard at work casting the various roles. Ehrenreich beat out strong contenders like Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen and plenty others for the Solo gig. Many cinephiles should quite familiar with Alden Ehrenreich as he was in one of the best scenes of the Coen Brothers’ recent Hail Caesar!, and was in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine before that. He’s an excellent choice. ›››

Official Trailer for Documentary 'Jia Zhangke, A Guy From Fenyang'

Jia Zhangke: A Guy From Fenyang

“This shot carries a memory within it.” Kino Lorber has debuted a trailer for the documentary called Jia Zhangke, A Guy From Fenyang, directed by Walter Salles, taking a look at the life of famed Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke. It looks like a fantastic documentary with some incredible footage of Jia Zhangke in China, and all over the world. Salles last directed the Jack Kerouac adaptation On the Road, but returns to docs to make this stunning feature on another very talented filmmaker/storyteller – Jia Zhangke, of films like A Touch of Sin, Mountains May Depart, Still Life, 24 City, The World and many others. This is a rather beautiful trailer with some poetic imagery, it really makes me want to see this documentary. Watch below. ›››

    USS Indianapolis Trailer

“The Japanese are extremely disciplined adversaries, sir.” Hannibal Classics and Patriot Pictures have debuted the first trailer for a WWII movie called USS Indianapolis, or in full the title is actually USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage. It’s about the WWII ship the USS Indianapolis, which carried the Enola Gay bomber and pats of the atomic bomb across the Pacific, then later was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July of 1945. It sunk leaving many of the crew left stranded, drowning or dying in the ocean waiting 4 days for rescue. Nicolas Cage stars as Captain Charles B. McVay, who was court-mailed for “failing to zigzag”, then exonerated more than half a century later. This looks like it has solid action, not so sure about the rest. ›››

Official Trailer for Wacky Must See True Story Documentary 'Nuts!'

    Nuts! Documentary

“He had a million ideas! And had a huge influence on the course of popular culture.” Amazon and Gland Power Films + Cartuna present the full official trailer for the documentary NUTS!, from filmmaker Penny Lane. This totally wacky, almost unbelievable true story documentary examines the life of a person named John R. Brinkley, one of the most impressive snake oil salesmen in US history, who made his fortune by surgically attaching goat testicles to men to cure impotence. It was all BS and this amazing doc turns it into an even more entertaining story by hand-animating half of it, as well as presenting bits of archival footage and interviews. Brinkley goes on to run a radio station and come up with all kinds of crazy ideas. Have at it. ›››

First Trailer for Crazy Drug Thriller 'Urge' Featuring Pierce Brosnan

    Urge Trailer

“We are going to get into so much trouble!” Lionsgate Premiere has debuted a trailer for the crazy drug action-thriller film called Urge, starring Pierce Brosnan as the top man peddling a magnificent designer drug. Danny Masterson, Ashley Greene, Alexis Knapp, Alison Lohman, Justin Chatwin, and Chris Geere also star. It’s hard to describe this other than to say it gets wild and not in a good way. The drug causes some apparently amazing effects, but they can only take it once, supposedly, though because it feels so good they keep taking it – sucked right in. I’m not so sure I’m up for trying? Indulge. Enjoy. Repeat. ›››

Watch: Revealing Full Trailer for 'The Shallows' Starring Blake Lively

    The Shallows Trailer

What was once in the deep is now in the shallows. Sony has released a new trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra’s shark thriller The Shallows, starring Blake Lively as a surfer who gets caught on a small rock while out surfing from a remote beach, with a giant great white shark on the prowl. We’ve seen a few shark thrillers recently, like Open Water, but this one still tries to be unique and includes a very gnarly shark – which you’ll see plenty of in this trailer. The cast includes Óscar Jaenada and Sedona Legge. This is one of those trailers that shows a lot of the movie, so if you don’t want this mostly revealed, then stay away. Otherwise – this seems like it will still be a thrilling experience to watch on the big screen. That shark! What a meanie. ›››
