    Player Two Short Film

“Once I started meddling around I found a ghost.” Who said YouTube comments weren’t worth anything? Player Two is a new short film (running under 2 minutes, impressive!) from filmmaker John Wikstrom that’s based entirely on a comment from YouTube. The story is about a boy, Zac Pullam (seen on “Finding Carter”), who used to play video games with his dad on one of those old clunky Xbox consoles, and discovers a way to reconnect with him years later. Wikstrom is the talented filmmaker behind two other shorts we’ve featured – The Hatchling and Chloe – and should be making features in Hollywood by now. Give this a look. ›››

  • First Trailer for New Horror Thriller 'The Woods' From Adam Wingard

First Trailer for New Horror Thriller 'The Woods' From Adam Wingard

    The Woods Trailer

“A nightmare of classic proportions.” Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Adam Wingard & Simon Barrett’s new horror thriller The Woods, with a quote from Brad Miska saying its one of the “scariest movies ever made”. The film is about a group of college students on a camping trip that discover they are not alone. This is supposed to introduce a new creepy horror character, which you’ll barely get a glimpse of in this footage if you look close. The cast includes James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson. This could actually be pretty good, as these two filmmakers are fantastic and always deliver. I do want to see more from this, but I’m intrigued already. ›››

She’s joined by Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose Melody Depp, and the two play teenage yoga enthusiasts from Winnipeg who unearth some weird ancient evil and must battle a sausage army. It’s as totally wacky as it sounds, and you’ll even see some shots of Kevin Smith as the Bratzi. New Red Band Trailer for 'Swiss Army Man' Starring Daniel Radcliffe

    Swiss Army Man Trailer

“Am I dead?” “I don’t think so… You’re talking.” A24 has released a fantastic new red band trailer for Swiss Army Man, the wacky indie comedy from Sundance this year. It stars Daniel Radcliffe as a farting corpse that also has other special abilities – as you’ll find out in this trailer. Paul Dano stars as a man stuck on a deserted island until this corpse suddenly shows up, helping him come back to life again. Even if you’ve heard enough and already want to see this watch the trailer – but especially if you’re curious, this is a must watch. They show quite a bit but it’s a rather beautiful trailer capturing the vibe of the film. Which is rather hard because it’s so unique. Mary Elizabeth Winstead also appears in this. Fire up the new trailer below. ›››

  • First Trailer for Fantastically Weird Sundance Documentary 'Tickled'

First Trailer for Fantastically Weird Sundance Documentary 'Tickled'

    Tickled Trailer

“We could hear laughter coming out of the vents…” Magnolia Pictures has debuted a trailer for the weird, fantastic, crazy documentary Tickled, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year. Made in New Zealand, the doc follows a journalist named David Farrier as he investigates the people behind “competitive endurance tickling” videos posted online. He ends up in a “wormhole” of madness when he is threatened in every way possible by the entity that is supposedly behind everything. It received rave reviews at the fest, and this trailer has some great quotes in it. I wrote in my Sundance review: “Every new discovery is more insane than the last, and watching it unfold this way was both terrifying and exhilarating.” Dive in. ›››

  • Watch: New Featurette on Matt Damon Returning for 'Jason Bourne'

Watch: New Featurette on Matt Damon Returning for 'Jason Bourne'

    Jason Bourne Featurette

“There’s a reason for the CIA to want to bring him back… he is called the one-hundred-million-dollar weapon.” Universal has released a new featurette for Jason Bourne, profiling the return of Matt Damon as Jason Bourne for his fourth movie. Tommy Lee Jones also stars, along with Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel, Riz Ahmed and Ato Essandoh. This whole featurette is just a bit cheesy, and features more footage from the trailer than any actual behind-the-scenes footage, along with some interview clips – but it doesn’t have that much. I’m very excited to see this movie, I think it might be very cool, just not impressed by this little bit of marketing. I want to see some actual behind-the-scenes footage for this one. ›››

  • Tom Hanks Back as Langdon in First Trailer for Ron Howard's 'Inferno'

Tom Hanks Back as Langdon in First Trailer for Ron Howard's 'Inferno'

    Inferno Teaser Trailer

“Zobrist created a plague.” Sony has debuted the first official teaser + a better international trailer for Ron Howard’s adaptation of Dan Brown’s Inferno, once again starring Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. This is the next film in the trilogy also featuring The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, which were directed by Ron Howard starring Tom Hanks. This time he wakes up in Italy and ends up on another crazy adventure involving history. The cast also includes Felicity Jones as Dr. Sienna Brooks, his sidekick this time, plus Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Ana Ularu and Ida Darvish. This looks pretty much exactly as you would expect it to, with tons of weird action and lots of history flying at you, and exploding. The teaser is okay, but the international trailer (also below) is much better – watch both. Enjoy. ›››

Must Watch: Official Trailer for Michel Gondry's 'Microbe & Gasoline'

    Gondry's Microbe & Gasoline

“A house with wheels?” “Exactamundo!” Screen Media Films has debuted the official US trailer for Michel Gondry’s latest feature film, called Microbe & Gasoline, about two funky kids named Microbe & Gasoline. I wasn’t a fan of Gondry’s last film, Mood Indigo, but this is one is fantastic – he gets back to his roots, telling a very charming story of two quirky friends escaping on a road trip and what it means to have a real friend who is just as weird as you are. Starring Ange Dargent and Théophile Baquet, plus Audrey Tautou, the film is actually a must see if you’re a fan of Michel Gondry’s films or coming-of-age adventures. I’m glad I had the chance to see this and do recommend it to anyone who is curious to give it a watch. Enjoy. ›››
