There was a time when PUBG enjoyed massive domination. The early-access battle royale game was a huge breakout hit, with a record 3.2 million concurrent players on Steam almost one year ago.

But its numbers have dropped off, and while it’s still one of Steam’s most popular games, it’s nowhere near its peak.

Meanwhile Fortnite is unquestionably the biggest game on Earth, and Call of Duty’s Blackout mode brings another big name to the battle royale battle royale. Against these heavy hitters, and with even CS:GO adding a battle royale and going free-to-play, PUBG isn’t going to gain new players unless it does something drastically different.

The new Vikendi snow map for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was announced during the 2018 Game Awards, bringing the total number of maps to four (five if you count training). The timing was interesting, as PUBG’s biggest battle royale rival Fortnite’s season 7 had dropped, and with it, a host of changes to the map, new inclusions, and an entirely new creative mode.

Bethesda shares its current patch schedule for the remainder of the year, and teases new content for Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 got another patch this week following last week’s update, and Bethesda is hoping to drop one more before the end of the year, according to the latest Inside the Vault blog post.

“We’re still hoping to provide one more patch in mid-December. As mentioned previously, this patch will continue our focus on stability and other concerns raised by the community,” reads the update.

Sometimes it seems like Spider-Man is the loneliest and unluckiest hero in the entire Marvel Universe. But as it turns out, he’s far from the only wall-crawling hero out there. The Marvel multiverse is full of like-minded do-gooders who use their spider-powers to defend innocent lives. And when those heroes come together, the Spider-Verse is born.

And now, with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse hitting theaters, what better time to delve into the history of the Spider-Verse? The film stars the voice talents of Shameik Moore (as Spider-Man/Miles Morales), Jake Johnson (as Peter Parker), Hailee Steinfeld (as Gwen Stacy), Mahershala Ali (as Miles’ uncle Aaron), Brian Tyree Henry (as Miles’ father Jefferson), Luna Lauren Velez (as Miles’ mother Rio), Lily Tomlin (as Aunt May), and Liev Schreiber (as The Kingpin).

Yesterday, Red Dead Online got its first major update after being in beta for more than a week. In a post on their newswire, Rockstar said the changes were  “specifically geared towards creating a more balanced, fun and rewarding overall experience, across all modes and missions,” so of course, the big question is: does the update really do all that much to fix what so much of RDO’s early user base was complaining about? The short answer is yes, it makes a huge difference – even if it doesn’t fix all of the beta’s problems.

Thursday night’s Game Awards offered much in the way of glitz, glam, and game teasers — including an exclusive look at the fourth installment of BioWare’s blockbuster Dragon Age series. BioWare has been known to offer painstaking amounts of detail in their promo art which, if deciphered correctly, has the potential to unlock oodles of secrets about Thedas, character backstory, lore and more. Remember Inquisition’s character tarot cards?

Sure, maybe we didn’t get anything quite as lush as extensive character art, but Dragon Age fans are hungry. So we’ll take a 60 second trailer.

Even if those 60-seconds are sparse in some ways, they are rich in others. Sure, four seconds are devoted to BioWare’s logo, ten of them are a hashtag, and thirty seconds are spent in a slow pan over an ancient cursed idol… But those remaining sixteen seconds? Hoo boy. We’re graced with a real doozy of a promo image, coupled with a voiceover from a Dragon Age I major character. Does any of this give a clue into Dragon Age 4? Who is the Dread Wolf and why are they rising? What does it all mean?

A Monster Hunter: World expansion called Iceborne has been revealed, and with it, a teaser of a what we assume to be a returning monster from previous generations: the Nargacuga. Check out this slideshow for more monsters we’d like to see from past generations, and the reveal trailer for the expansion below.  

Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World has been out for nearly a year now, and hunters may have gotten their fill of the elegant Legiana or the feisty Odogaron. With the influx of new players to the series, there are certain beasties that we think are a rite of passage for any experienced hunter.
