  • BioShock Collection Listed By Retailer

A South African retailer has indicated 2K Games plans to re-release the BioShock series for current consoles.

Raru, an online outlet that also previously leaked the Greninja, Jigglypuff, and Splatooon Amiibo, has listed The BioShock Collection for release on November 27 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

As of yet, 2K Games has not officially announced the title or indicated any intention to re-release the games through teases. GameSpot has contacted the publisher for a statement.

The fate of BioShock has been unclear since February 2014, when Irrational Games, developer of the BioShock series, was effectively shut down.

Cofounder Ken Levine, meanwhile, revealed he’s starting a new endeavour for Irrational Games owner Take-Two Interactive.

“I am winding down Irrational Games as you know it,” Levine said at the time. “I’ll be starting a smaller, more entrepreneurial endeavour at Take-Two.”

Although details on the project have not yet been revealed, Levine has said it will run on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4.

Narrative is a key focus of the project, and Levine has expressed his love of how Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor offers a flexible narrative.

“Two years ago, I started thinking about how to build a system to let story be as variable as gameplay and still be awesome in the way story can be awesome,” he has said in statements discussing the new project.

“Could you have characters, conflicts, and dialogue that could end not in 100 states, not in 1,000, but in X to the Y states? Goodbye linear, hello geometric!”

He continued: “And that’s the new big thing that my colleagues and I have been working on at our yet-unnamed new studio. In March, I gave a talk at the Game Developers Conference about some of our ideas. We called it ‘Narrative Legos.’ The goal is to make a flexible narrative that is broadly replayable and strongly adaptive to player choice.”

  • Halo: Reach Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Teased

Halo: Reach Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Teased

2010’s Xbox 360 game Halo: Reach, the final entry in the series developed by franchise creator Bungie, could come to Xbox One someday. That’s according to top Xbox boss Phil Spencer, who said recently to a fan on Twitter that, “I’d like to see it come via backwards compatibility.”

The user asked if Reach might be added to Halo: The Master Chief Collection (like Halo 3: ODST was) or if it might get its own “Anniversary” edition similar to Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2. But Spencer didn’t respond to these points, instead suggesting it’s more likely to come via backwards compatibility.

A prequel to the first Halo game, Reach–released five years ago this month–was celebrated by critics across the board, and earned a 9.5/10 score from GameSpot.

Reach was not included in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, in part because it does not star Master Chief, but Microsoft is well aware that fans are clamoring for it.

“I think enough people have asked about it that we are thinking about it,” executive producer Dan Ayoub said back in 2014 about possibly bringing ODST and Reach to Xbox One some day.

ODST, which also does not star Master Chief, was released as DLC for Halo: The Master Chief Collection in May 2015 as part of Microsoft’s effort to make up for the game’s rocky launch.

In other Xbox One backwards compatibility news, Spencer teases that Microsoft is “really focused” on launching the feature publicly in November. “I’ve seen the lineup of games coming to launch and in the months ahead; good list,” he said. The feature is currently available only to Preview Program members.

  • Get a Sneak Peek at the Custom Crackdown 3 Xbox One Controller

Get a Sneak Peek at the Custom Crackdown 3 Xbox One Controller

Back at Gamescom, Microsoft announced a special contest where it would give away two special-edition Xbox One controllers themed around the upcoming game Crackdown 3 and personalized with the winners’ Xbox gamertags. Now, Microsoft has published a sneak peek of the designs.

The full control design will be announced later (they are “almost ready,” Microsoft says), but for now, you can check out the teaser Microsoft also cautions that “we’re still working on it.”

If you didn’t win the Crackdown 3 promotion at Gamescom, you’ll still have a chance to score one of the controllers. They will not be sold in stores, but Microsoft says people in the Crackdown community will have a shot at taking one home through promotions to be announced later.

Crackdown 3’s release date has been narrowed it down to summer 2016. Microsoft has clarified that the entirety of the game won’t be available at that time, however. Instead, just the multiplayer will be playable in that window. In addition, the game’s cloud-based destruction technology is a multiplayer-only feature.

The game has been confirmed only for Xbox One so far, but a PC edition has not been ruled out.

  • PS4 Price Cut Predicted By Xbox One Boss

PS4 Price Cut Predicted By Xbox One Boss

In the wake of the news this week that the PlayStation 4 is getting a price cut in Japan, some wondered if the console might also get a price drop in the United States. According to Xbox One boss Phil Spencer, that’s just about a sure thing, though it doesn’t worry him about Microsoft’s own plans for this holiday.

“I fully expect they [PlayStation] will drop price,” Spencer told IGN. “When I think about the playbook they’ve used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we’ll see a price drop from them coming.”

The PS4 launched in November 2013 priced at $400, where it’s stood ever since. By comparison, the Xbox One debuted at $500 (with a Kinect camera), but later dropped to $400 and then again to $350 where it stands today for the base model without the Kinect

“It’s great for gamers when price competition happens,” Spencer added. “We saw that last holiday, and we saw crazy sales numbers on all of the consoles.”

Sony’s next announcement event will be the Paris Game Show in October. Spencer mentioned this event in the interview, but that doesn’t mean this is necessarily where Sony will announce a PS4 price drop, if it does at all.

If Sony does indeed implement a PS4 price cut, where would you like to see it fall to? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

  • Watch Halo 5 Limited Collector's Edition Unboxing

Halo 5: Guardians is getting two premium bundles, the Limited Edition ($100) and the Limited Collector’s Edition ($250), and now Microsoft has published detailed unboxing videos for the premium bundles.

As you’ll see in the video, the Limited Edition comes with a physical copy of Halo 5, a Halo-inspired SteelBook, Spartan Locke’s Classified Orders, and dossiers for Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris. You’ll also find a Metal Earth model of a Guardian, the Warzone REQ Bundle (comes with 14 REQ packs), and access to the Halo: The Fall of Reach animated series. Read about how Halo 5’s REQ system works here.

Meanwhile, the Limited Collector’s Edition includes everything mentioned above, as well as a gorgeous-looking statue that depicts Master Chief and Spartan Locke. The statue is held together by magnets, meaning you can pull it apart and reconfigure it however you’d like. The bundle comes with a digital copy of the game, allowing you to pre-load the game starting October 20, seven days before the game launches.

If you’re looking to buy the Limited Collector’s Edition but would prefer a physical disc, Microsoft will let you exchange your digital copy for a physical one.

Finally, this unboxing video also goes over the $500 1 TB Xbox One bundle that will ship alongside the game on October 27. The Halo 5 console features metallic blue accents (as does its special controller) and even has Halo-themed sound effects. It also comes with the Limited Edition bonuses.

The Halo 5 release date is locked in for October 27.
