  • Here's When The Division's Game Breaking Bug Will Be Fixed

Here's When The Division's Game Breaking Bug Will Be Fixed

Ubisoft has confirmed a bug in The Division that locks players out of the game after a high-end backpack is crafted will be fixed on April 12, as part of update 1.1. The announcement was made on the game’s official forum by community manager Natchai Stappers.

“We will be deploying a fix in update 1.1 on April 12 that should resolve instances of the infinite loading/backpack issue,” he said. “Due to this fix requiring a client patch, we cannot deploy it at an earlier date. We thank you for your patience.”

On March 31, Ubisoft acknowledged the problem and said that it has identified the cause of the bug, adding a patch to fix the issue will be released “as soon as possible.” It also provided a recommendation for how to avoid the issue in the meantime.

Developer Ubisoft Massive has announced a free update will be released for the game on April. It introduces the first raid, which is called an Incursion. Titled “Falcon Lost,” it is a high-end mission that requires teamwork and coordination to complete. Level 31 gear is required take on the mission, and there will also be the option to play it in a higher difficulty mode.

Following the April update, a second Incursions update called “Conflict” will launch in May. It adds new Dark Zone features and an additional incursion in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle. After that, three paid expansions will be released for The Division, and you can get all of the details about them here.

  • Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Suffers Huge Box Office Decline

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Suffers Huge Box Office Decline

There is no question that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a box office hit. With a second week at the top of the US box office and more than $680 million earned worldwide, it has already proved even more successful than its predecessor, 2013’s Man of Steel. However, the film has also suffered a massive second weekend box office fall, which casts some doubt on its ability to maintain its popularity over the coming weeks.

As reported by Box Office Mojo, the DC superhero showdown took $52.3 million in its second weekend of domestic release, a drop of 68.4% from its opening. This is the fifth biggest second week fall of all time, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and three of the Twilight series.

While Dawn of Justice‘s drop-off is dramatic, the dedicated fanbase for superhero movies does often mean that they fare better in their opening weekends than in subsequent ones. For example, Man of Steel fell 64.6%, while Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past dropped 59.4% and 64.2% respectively.

However, it is worth noting that these films were all released into the crowded summer market, with plenty of high profile competition elsewhere. In comparison Dawn of Justice‘s only new rivals last weekend came from smaller interest films such as God’s Not Dead 2 and Meet the Blacks, and from the animated hit Zootopia, which maintained second place after five weeks of release.

  • See Overwatch's New Animated Short, Bask in Windowmaker's Awesomeness

Blizzard has released a new animated short for Overwatch, its upcoming team-based multiplayer shooter. While the first focused on Winston–the super-smart, ultra-powerful ape– the second is all about Widowmaker, the deadly female assassin.

The video shows the sniper attempting to assassinate Zenyatta, another one of the game’s playable heroes. The robot seems to be a spiritual leader in the game’s universe and can be seen advocating for harmony between humankind and machines.

Also slinking around is Tracer, the high-energy British hero with time-manipulation abilities, who steps in to put a stop to Windowmaker’s plans. Check out the video above to see what happens.

Overwatch will launch on May 24 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game was initially revealed as a PC only title, but in November 2015 Blizzard added announced Overwatch for Xbox One and PS4.

The game is not free-to-play and it will not offer cross-platform play across PC and consoles due to the advantage keyboard and mouse players might have. All maps and characters released for Overwatch after launch will be free, according to game director Jeff Kaplan.

Toy company Funko has announced a new line of Pop! figures based on the game’s characters. The lineup of figures includes adorable versions of Tracer, Reaper, Widowmaker, and Winston the gorilla. You can see these in the gallery below.

  • New Beyond Good & Evil Trademark Shows Up

New Beyond Good & Evil Trademark Shows Up

Ubisoft has filed a new trademark application for “Beyond Good & Evil,” possibly signalling something new for the franchise. DualShockers discovered an April 1 listing (not a joke) in the European Union Intellectual Property Office database for “Beyond Good & Evil,” a trademark that covers video games, among other things.

The existence of a trademark does not necessarily mean much on its own. It’s possible Ubisoft is simply re-securing its rights over the franchise, and in this case, the trademark also covers things like paper products and clothing related to Beyond Good & Evil. At the same time, though, as DualShockers points out, the emergence of trademark listings has in the past been followed by official announcements soon after.

We’ll report back with new details as they become available.

2003’s original Beyond Good & Evil came to GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. The sequel was first announced by designer Michel Ancel in 2008, at which time he confirmed that the project had already been in preproduction for a year.

Ubisoft hasn’t shared much of late regarding Beyond Good & Evil 2, but that doesn’t mean it’s canceled. Ubisoft Montpellier continues to work on this “extremely ambitious project,” the developer said in August 2014.

“In many ways, [Beyond Good & Evil] is an inimitable game–it appeals to all generations of gamers and is an inspiration behind many of Ubisoft Montpellier’s past and future games,” a Ubisoft representative told said at the time. “It’s still far too early to give many details about this new title.”

  • New Ratchet & Clank Movie Scene Shows When The Heroes Met

A new scene from this month’s Ratchet & Clank movie has been released. The film, based on the first game in the Insomniac Games series, is an origin story, and this scene showcases the dramatic circumstances when Ratchet met Clank.

This new scene, which first aired at WonderCon in March, is the second new clip we’ve seen recently, following another video earlier this week.

The characters Ratchet & Clank are voiced by James Arnold Taylor and David Kaye, respectively, the two actors who also lend their pipes to the characters in the game franchise.

Other actors who are voicing characters in Ratchet & Clank include John Goodman, Rosario Dawson, Bella Thorne, Sylvester Stallone, and Paul Giamatti.

Ratchet & Clank comes to theaters on April 29. Debuting before that on April 12 is a new Ratchet & Clank game for PS4, which recently went gold. Though it’s based on elements of the first game, it is described as a “whole new game.” It is also based on the upcoming animated film, which is also based on the original game, Insomniac explained on Twitter.

  • Final Fantasy 15 Director Talks Demo Frame Rate, Resolution, DLC, More

After Final Fantasy XV’s big event this week, the news just keeps pouring in. Director Hajime Tabata recently spoke to Dengeki Online about the game’s new Platinum Demo and more.

On the subject of the free demo’s resolution, he said the team used a dynamic resolution, with 1080p being the limit, according to a translation from DualShockers. As for frame rate, which some have remarked could be better, Tabata made it clear that the demo’s goal was not to be a technical showcase, but rather to give the players a taste of the world before launch.

The technical specifications for the Platinum Demo are the same for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, he said, though he’s not sure if the same will be true for the final release. He also pledged that Square Enix will spend time between now and launch optimizing the game so it can look and perform as good as possible.

    Other highlights from the interview:

    • Final Fantasy XV will be playable at E3 and possibly other events before launch.
    • There are no plans to update the Platinum Demo as Square Enix did with Episode Duscae.
    • Tabata believes there may be free and paid DLC for Final Fantasy down the road, though there is no word yet on what form this will take.
    • He reiterated that a PC version of Final Fantasy XV could be released after the console launch, but nothing has been decided at this stage.

Final Fantasy XV launches in September 2015 for PS4 and Xbox One. As stated, a PC version could come later, but nothing has been decided. For more on all the announcements from this week’s Uncovered event in Los Angeles, check out this roundup of stories and this collection of trailers.

  • Oculus Will Cover Shipping Costs on All Rift Orders Through Today [UPDATE]

Oculus Will Cover Shipping Costs on All Rift Orders Through Today [UPDATE]

[UPDATE #2] Oculus sent out an email to Rift customers that said because of the delays it’ll cover “shipping and handling costs for all orders placed through today.” Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe confirmed the screenshot and replied on Reddit with the following comment:

“Correct. We apologize for not updating you earlier. The first few batches are going out slower than we estimated, so we’re giving free shipping for all pre-orders, including international.”

[UPDATE] Oculus customers have reported that the shipping fee on their Rift order has been significantly reduced. We’ve contacted Oculus for further comment and will report back when we hear more.

    The original story follows:

The Oculus Rift released this week, but it seems that many people who preordered the virtual reality headset have no idea when theirs will ship. Customers have been asking Oculus founder Palmer Luckey to let them know what’s happening, and now he’s addressed their pleas after one user suggested that he wasn’t allowed to comment on the supposed issues because of higher-ups.

“Don’t shunt blame to other people, this is my call,” he said in a comment on Reddit. “I am not going to wax poetic about this, since I have done so in the past, but bottom-line: I won’t give in-depth updates on any situation without knowing it is solid, true, and finalized. Until I can do so, the best I can do is remind people that I will get them information as quickly as I can.”

“On the rare occasions when things still change, even when they change for reasons out of my control, I get crucified anyway,” Luckey continued. “Sometimes that means updates have to wait until things get locked down, and sometimes that means waiting a little longer to give everyone good info.”

When criticized for the lack of a “concise and quick” response, Luckey said “the two are completely opposed” and that “concise and accurate information is rarely the fastest or first, especially when talking about a situation with so many constantly changing variable.”

The Oculus subreddit’s overall tone seems to be an angry one, and when someone asked people to imagine how the subreddit would look if thousands of people had Rifts “instead of the handful now,” Luckey responded with the following:

“Not very different, apparently, because there are already many thousands of Rifts out there even at this early point, with more arriving as we speak. Remember that this sub is a tiny minority of the overall VR market–70k [subscribers] is not even an accurate measure, considering how many subs are from old accounts or lurkers with no headset. The vast majority of people don’t care about posting pictures or reviews of their new toy to an internet enthusiast group.”

Another user accused Luckey of writing the Oculus community off, which he replied to by saying his “involvement [in the subreddit] should make [it] obvious” that he’s not doing that.

“I don’t think you are interpreting my comment fairly–I never said that everyone who matters is fine, I just pointed out that thousands of units in the wild don’t translate into a significant difference in the direction of this subreddit, and that his perception of only a handful of Rifts being out there (which he apprently got from this sub) is inaccurate,” Luckey added.

No official comment has been given on the state of Oculus Rift shipments at this time. We’ve contacted Oculus PR and will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

For the time being, you can check out our review and everything else you need to know about the Oculus Rift right here.
