Awesome Art Picks: Elektra, Wolverine, Harley Quinn, and More

Each week we search and gather up the coolest comic book art you won’t see in actual comics. The reason you won’t is because professional artists often draw sketches for fun or commissions and post them on their websites, blogs, and Tumblrs. Some artists even arrange commissions through their sites so be sure to check them out. This is a way to see the artists working on one book draw characters from other comics or publishers.

  • Quantum Break PC Update Fixes Frame Rate, Adds Quit Button

Quantum Break PC Update Fixes Frame Rate, Adds Quit Button

Quantum Break has already received its Xbox One update, and now the PC version will get its own patch tomorrow, April 30. The patch is expected to fix major issues including the lack of a quit button, the frame rate, and much more.

Two of the more prominent issues were the game’s frame rate not matching a monitor’s refresh rate and the absence of a quit option. With the April 30 update, the frame rate should be fixed, and players should be able to quit the game from the main menu.

Additionally, the update fixes issues that were shared with the Xbox One version. The rare bug that kills progress after completing the game should be fixed, as well as in-game TV screens sometimes appearing grain-y. Players shouldn’t lose their cloud saves any more, either.

Tomorrow’s update also makes adjustments to the game’s acts. Some of the issues fixed include pathing, collison, and audio issues.

Tech outlet Digital Foundry detailed Quantum Break’s multiple issues, and not all of them listed there have been reported as fixed in this update. For example, there’s no mention in the patch notes (listed below) of the game’s option to lock the frame rate at 30 FPS, which initially wasn’t working properly. An issue that revolves around Quantum Break’s stability on Nvidia hardware wasn’t mentioned, either.

Remedy Entertainment PR issued the following statement in a press release:

  • Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan to be Played by The Office Star in New Amazon Series

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan to be Played by The Office Star in New Amazon Series

The Office actor John Krasinski has scored himself a new role, and this time it’s Tom Clancy’s well-known CIA agent, Jack Ryan. Krasinski will star as the character in a new Amazon TV series from Lost and Bates Motel writer Carlton Cuse.

Variety reports that Cuse’s top pick for the role of Jack Ryan had been Krasinski since the project started development. Cuse will be joined by fellow Lost writer Graham Roland, who will assist in running the show. Michael Bay’s company Platinum Dunes is on board to produce, alongside Paramount TV and Skydance TV.

    Krasinski in 13 Hours

The Jack Ryan series is skipping the pilot testing process and has garnered a series commitment. The new show has not been given the thumbs-up to start production, though Variety reports that Krasinski’s involvement “will likely expedite the process.”

Krasinski is mostly known for his roles in comedies such as The Office, Away We Go, and License to Wed; however, he’s also had experience in more action-focused films like 13 Hours and Jarhead.

Krasinski isn’t the first actor to play the popular CIA agent, either. He’s actually the fifth, coming in after Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, and Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears. Jack Ryan was most recently portrayed by Star Trek actor Chris Pine in 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.

The Rainbow Six video game series is based on the 1998 novel titled Rainbow Six. It takes place in the Jack Ryan universe, though it opts to focus on another Tom Clancy character, John Clark, instead.

  • Maze Runner Sequel Production Suspended Indefinitely as Star Recovers From Injuries

Maze Runner Sequel Production Suspended Indefinitely as Star Recovers From Injuries

20th Century Fox announced today that it has suspended production indefinitely on the upcoming Maze Runner sequel Death Cure, as star Dylan O’Brien recovers from injuries sustained in an on-set accident.

“The resumption of principal photography on Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been further delayed to allow Dylan O’Brien more time to fully recover from his injuries,” the film company said in a statement to Deadline. “We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and look forward to restarting production as soon as possible.”

Production was previously scheduled to begin again on May 9. Fox has not yet announced when filming will start up again, but apparently the cast and crew have been sent home for now.

In March, Fox halted production on Death Cure after 24-year-old star O’Brien was hit by a car and sustained significant injuries. TMZ reported that O’Brien sustained “severe” injuries after “something went wrong” and he was run over by a car. He reportedly suffered multiple broken bones.

O’Brien plays Thomas in the Maze Runner series, based on the novels from author James Dashner. The first movie, The Maze Runner, was released in 2014, with sequel The Scorch Trials landing in 2015. They were both hits and a third entry, Death Cure, is slated to come out in February 2017.

Whether or not the movie will move out further as a result of O’Brien’s accident remains to be seen.

  • Bungie Responds to Latest Destiny Expansion Rumors

Bungie Responds to Latest Destiny Expansion Rumors

Writing in its latest weekly blog post, Bungie community manager David “Deej” Dague offered a response to one of the big rumors going around about Destiny and its upcoming expansion.

Just minutes after Destiny’s spring update went live on April 12, someone one Reddit with the name “Rezyl Azzir” discovered a new Grimoire lore card that referenced a character named Rezyl Azzir. This character apparently posted a message in Latin that translated to “The twentieth day of the ninth month. IT is coming. Forward, to the stars.”

This suggested that Bungie would release something, possibly the next Destiny expansion, on September 20 this year. Both Destiny and The Taken King released in September of their respective years.

However, Bungie is distancing itself from Azzir, apparently debunking this rumor.

“Oh, and hey. Rezyl Azzir is not one of us,” Dague wrote, not specifying if he meant the character Azzir or the Reddit user. “We cannot confirm nor can we decipher these riddles. It’s a mystery to us as well. Fun stuff, though. If you don’t know what we’re talking about, don’t worry about it. If you do, enjoy the speculation.”

A “large” new Destiny expansion is coming this year, while Destiny 2 will arrive in 2017. Dague recently teased the expansion, saying, “I’ve seen it. I’m excited about it. I will say no more… For now.”

In other news about Destiny, Bungie has announced changes are coming to address the game’s melee issues.

How to Play Madden 16 Free This Weekend

Looking for something new to play on Xbox One this weekend? Microsoft has announced that EA’s Madden NFL 16 is free to play for all Xbox Live Gold members now until 11:59 PM PST on Monday, May 2.

This offer is part of Microsoft’s “Free Play Days” promotion. It’s not the first time Madden NFL 16 has been included in the promotion, as it–along with NBA 2K16–was also free for a weekend back in 2015.

In other news about Madden NFL 16, Microsoft has discounted the game to $20 across Xbox One and Xbox 360. Additionally, the professional football game is free for EA Access members on Xbox One.

You can find the free Madden NFL 16 promotion in the Gold Member area of the Xbox dashboard. The start of this promotion coincides with the 2016 NFL Draft, which began Thursday night and continues this weekend.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC Finally Comes to Xbox 360 Next Week

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening DLC Finally Comes to Xbox 360 Next Week

Call of Duty: Black Ops III‘s first expansion pack, Awakening, is coming to Xbox 360 after all. Microsoft’s Major Nelson announced on Twitter that the content will come to the last-generation console on May 5.

Awakening originally launched in February for PlayStation 4, coming to Xbox One and PC month later. In a December 2015 press release, Activision said Awakening was “not available” on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

However, in March this year, Activision confirmed it was coming to PS3, where it launched on April 5. At the time, Activision made no mention of a release for Xbox 360.

Call of Duty DLC launches first on PlayStation platforms due to a timed-exclusivity agreement between Sony and Activision that was announced in 2015. Previously, Xbox consoles got Call of Duty DLC first.

Awakening includes four multiplayer maps (Skyjacked, Splash, Gauntlet, and Rise), as well as the Zombies chapter, Der Eisendrache. The Skyjacked map is a re-imagining of Black Ops II‘s Hijacked arena.

Black Ops III’s second paid expansion, Eclipse, came to PS4 on April 19. The content will be released for other platforms later, though no specific timing announcements have been made yet.

The next Call of Duty game is rumored to be titled Infinite Warfare. Activision is also reportedly developing a remastered version of fan-favorite Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

  • Last Chance to Get an Xbox One for $300

Last Chance to Get an Xbox One for $300

If you’re interested in taking advantage of Microsoft’s Xbox One price cut, you need to act quickly. As announced previously, the price cut ends tomorrow, April 30.

The $50 discount on all Xbox One systems went into effect in March. With the price cut, the Xbox One became less expensive than the rival PlayStation 4, but the pricing measure was not enough to help Microsoft’s console rise to the top. The PS4 was the top-selling console in the US during March.

You can visit Xbox.com to see all available Xbox One systems.

Looking ahead, rumors and reports have suggested Microsoft may announce some kind of new Xbox hardware at E3 in June. For its part, Sony may also be working on a new, more powerful PS4.
