  • Cyberpunk 2077 Development Team Is Bigger Than The Witcher 3's

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red has discussed the size of the development team working on its next major title, Cyberpunk 2077. In a post on studio’s forum, where investors can submit queries, it was asked how many people were currently working on the title.

“There are currently more game developers working on Cyberpunk 2077 than on The Witcher 3 in its most intensive month,” a representative replied, as reported by NeoGAF.

The development effort for Cyberpunk 2077 is significant, as also shown by CD Projekt Red’s recent recruitment drive. On August 30, it had more than 60 open positions for the game posted on its careers website, and many were focused on creating vehicle-based gameplay.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a dystopian future and is based on the Cyberpunk RPG designed by Mike Pondsmith, who is partnering with CD Projekt Red for the video game. Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to launch in the 2017-2021 window.

CD Projekt Red has said it probably won’t be talking much about it until it has something big to show.

“Right now it’s the end of talking about Cyberpunk until we can go out there and show stuff and say, ‘Hey, here it is,’ because that’s how we do games,” CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwinski previously said. “There is too much talking about what it possibly could be, and how big, and…

“When we show it, we should show it and explain it. So I’m going to have people not read anything about Cyberpunk probably for the next… time, whatever the time will be.”

Iwinski also previously said Cyberpunk 2077 will be “more ambitious” than The Witcher 3 “on every single front.”

  • New Spider-Man Homecoming Pictures Reveal a Key Villain [SPOILERS]

New Spider-Man Homecoming Pictures Reveal a Key Villain [SPOILERS]

Of all the heroes in the Marvel universe, it is Spider-Man who has the most iconic range of adversaries. Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently in production, and it was officially announced in July that the Vulture will be one of the movie’s main villains. New on-set images posted on Instagram have now confirmed that Spidey will also be facing Shocker–check them out below, via ComicBookMovie:

While the face of the actor portraying Shocker can’t be seen in these images, it was previously rumoured that Fargo star Bokeem Woodbine would play the character. This follows the equally unconfirmed story that teen star Zendaya will be playing Peter Parker’s love interest Mary-Jane Watson, while Michael Keaton is known to be on-board as a currently unnamed villain, possibly the Vulture.

Last week, it was reported that Jon Favreau would reprise his role as Tony Stark’s bodyguard Happy Hogan in the film. Favreau played the character in all three Iron Man movies, the first two of which he directed.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first standalone Spidey movie from Marvel Studios, following a co-production deal with Sony Pictures. It stars Tom Holland as Peter, plus Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr, Donald Glover, Tony Revolori, and Tyne Daly. The film hits theaters on July 7, 2017.

  • Nintendo Shuts Down "No Mario's Sky," But the Game Still Lives on Kind of

Nintendo Shuts Down "No Mario's Sky," But the Game Still Lives on Kind of

Nintendo has apparently issued a copyright claim that has forced the developer’s of “No Mario’s Sky” to take the Mario/No Man’s Sky game down. Developer ASMB Games wrote on its website that “No Mario’s Sky is no more-io!” This was probably always going to happen, considering the game’s use of the Nintendo IP.

“Thanks everyone for playing and enjoying our little fan game,” the studio said. “We would love to see an official Nintendo game in this style–a Mario Galaxy-style game in 2D within a procedurally-generated universe.”

    Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5Gallery image 6

While No Mario’s Sky is gone, it’s been replaced by what ASMB is calling “DMCA’s Sky.” It’s similar to No Mario’s Sky, but uses a character named Spaceman Finn instead of Mario who is searching for Princess Mango, not Princess Peach.

“Featuring crazy Moombas, An Infinite Universe, Muscle, Amazing Physics and a Radical Space Ship; DMCA’s Sky is the hackneyed remake-gone-mashup you’ve been craving,” the studio said.

You can download it here. As always, be careful when downloading anything from the internet.

No Mario’s Sky removal was basically inevitable. It’s also not the first fan-made Mario game that Nintendo has shut down. Two fan-made games, Pokemon Uranium and the Metroid 2 Remake, were recently taken down. Pokemon Uranium’s creators say they weren’t contacted by Nintendo’s lawyers and instead took it down out of respect for the right’s holders. The Metroid 2 remake, however, was issued a DMCA takedown notice by the Mario publisher.

Nintendo also had the Super Mario 64 HD fan project shut down. The project was a remake of the N64 game’s first level, Bob-omb Battlefield, built in Unity.

Halo 5 Getting Custom Game Browser on Xbox One and PC

Microsoft continues to add new features to Halo 5: Guardians. Developer 343 Industries has now confirmed that the game is getting a custom game browser on both Xbox One and PC.

343’s Frank O’Connor confirmed this on NeoGAF, possibly accidentally. When discussing Halo 5’s PC Forge tools, he said, “Once the custom game browser is available I think the community might get crazy legit.”

    3071223-halo-5-guardians-hog-wild-sword-sting.jpg

Studio head Josh Holmes added some further details, stating this is a feature that 343 has wanted to make “for years.”

“To be clear, it’s a new feature that will provide similar functionality to a custom game browser, extending the existing file browser,” he said, as reported by VG247. “It’s something we’ve wanted to build for years and managed to get done as part of our ongoing support for the game.

“We’ll be talking in more detail as we near release, but yeah it’s pretty megaton for Halo and will be a great addition on both PC and console,” he added.

Halo 5’s Forge tools and custom games support come to PC on September 8, which is also the day that the game’s newest expansion, Anvil’s Legacy, comes to Xbox One. The game’s file browser also arrives on both systems that day. There is no word yet on when the custom games browser will be available.

  • Marvel's Ghost Rider Revealed in New Agents of SHIELD Image

Marvel's Ghost Rider Revealed in New Agents of SHIELD Image

Ghost Rider is one of Marvel’s coolest characters, but many fans would argue that the two critically-maligned movies starring Nicolas Cage didn’t exactly do him justice. This might be about to change when the supernatural anti-hero makes his Marvel TV debut in Agents of SHIELD this month. The first image of actor Gabriel Luna as the character has been released–check it out below, via EW:

    3125013-shieldqefw.jpg

This version of Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes, who has been his alter ego since 2014. Unlike Agents of SHIELD, the two earlier movies were not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and focused on Johnny Blaze, the ‘classic’ Ghost Rider.

In addition to the image, the show’s official Twitter feed released a short ‘found footage’ style video that reveals that Ghost Rider will be driving the cool black car associated with Reyes, as opposed to Blaze’s motorcycle. Watch it here.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb spoke about the decision to introduce Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD‘s fourth season. “The Marvel catalogue is filled with all kinds of really interesting, new, and often weird things,” he said, via ComicBookMovie.com. “So we hit on Ghost Rider and in particular the character of Robbie Reyes, because our show really hinges on the idea of family and how that works in the world.

“Robbie and his relationship with [his brother] Gabe and his relationship with the Ghost Rider are all really interesting things for our SHIELD folks to encounter, possibly in negative ways.”

Agents of SHIELD season 4 premieres on ABC on September 20, 2016.

  • See Brand New Final Fantasy 15 Gameplay and More

Today during its PAX West panel, Square Enix debuted new footage from Final Fantasy XV.

The footage begins at around 24 minutes in the video below (click play and it should jump to that time). Director Hajime Tabata and other people from the development team are on-hand to narrate the footage. We see Noctis and the group enter a mine shaft where they square off against evil creatures.

The video also spotlights Final Fantasy XV’s Chocobo racing minigame. Skip to around 50 minutes to see that footage, which looks wonderful. Your creature only has a set amount of stamina, so you’ll need to manage your sprinting strategically to come out on top. Also, Chocobos can drift, and doing so lets you conserve stamina.

Finally, Square Enix debuted some brand-new footage of Final Fantasy XV, starting at around 54 minutes. This is a mission where the player infiltrates an enemy Niflheim base. Players are fighting a creature of the mechanical variety and developers stressed that you’ll need to use different tactics against these. They have different body parts that can you target specifically.

If you watch the full video, be aware that there were technical difficulties in the second half that interrupted the broadcast. It was not an issue with the game, however, Square Enix said.

After a delay, Final Fantasy XV is now scheduled to come out on November 29 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In other news, the Final Fantasy XV playable minigame, Justice Monsters Five, is out now on mobile devices as a standalone game.
