  • The Evil Within Director Wants To Port Sequel To Nintendo Switch

The Evil Within 2 is out in just a few weeks for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and now producer Shinji Mikami–who previously directed the original game as well as the Resident Evil series–has said he would like to see a Switch version of the horror title.

In an interview with GameSpot, Mikami said, “I think a Switch version would be interesting. I’d like to try it if I had the chance.” While not exactly confirmation that such a port is happening, it’s at least promising that such a prominent figure in the series (Mikami is acting as producer and supervisor on the sequel) would like to see it happen.

There’s at least one small stumbling block however: “First I’d like to buy a Switch myself,” Mikami said. “I had to borrow Zelda with the Switch from another staff member to play it.”

The Evil Within 2 is being published by Bethesda, a company that is currently in the process of porting Doom, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to Nintendo’s hybrid console. However those titles are all developed by Bethesda internally, while The Evil Within 2’s primary developer is Mikami’s Tango Gameworks. If you want to see more of those games, you can now watch eight minutes of Doom on Switch gameplay.

Elsewhere in our interview, Mikami said the development period for The Evil Within 2 was “quite a bit shorter” than that of the first game. But that’s not hugely uncommon, as he noted, “It always takes more time to make the first game in a series, compared to subsequent games.”

We also asked Mikami about the growing expense of game development, particularly for bigger projects. Noting that it isn’t a new trend, he said, “It’s hard to make an original [game] now. The budgets are very big and the stakes are higher than they used to be.” As for whether he would like to do a smaller project, he said, “Yes. I would like to do that,” adding, “I don’t know if it’s OK to say that.”

The Evil Within 2 is just a few weeks away; its release date is set for October 13 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. For more, You can read our impressions of The Evil Within 2.

  • Nintendo Switch’s Super Bomberman R Update Bringing New Game Modes And Characters

Nintendo Switch’s Super Bomberman R Update Bringing New Game Modes And Characters

Super Bomberman R on Nintendo Switch is getting new characters and a brand new game mode. Publisher Konami announced the upcoming DLC at the Tokyo Game Show.

At the heart of the announcement is the new Grand Prix mode. Teams of up to three players will get to compete with each other in explosive combat, and Grand Prix will have “new rule-sets, unique new stages, new characters, and special skills,” Konami said. It will also introduce a new rule called Crystal (check out a screenshot of the new mode and rule below).

“The two teams will battle it out to see who can collect the most crystals strewn around the stage. Make your opponents drop their crystals and then steal them. You have to work together–teamwork is a must,” the publisher said.

The DLC also introduces new characters from two other Konami franchises, Zone of the Enders and Rumble Roses.

Developer Konami has suggested that the new characters may be available sooner than the new mode: “Oh and just to hold you over, presenting Jehuty, Anubis and Reiko Hinomoto Bombers,” it said on Facebook. It’s currently unclear whether the new fighters are already live.

Super Bomberman R’s last DLC introduced a ton of new features, including team battles, four new maps, and new accessories. It also added three new characters to the game from the Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Gradius series.

In related TGS news, Sony has announced a virtual reality version of Konami’s game Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is on its way for PS4 and PC, featuring enhanced graphics and support for 4K resolution. The remaster will be called Zone of the Enders: Anubis Mars and is due out in spring 2018.

  • Here's How To Get Your Free Celebi In Pokemon Sun And Moon

Here's How To Get Your Free Celebi In Pokemon Sun And Moon

Pokemon Gold and Silver are now available in the 3DS Eshop, and those who purchase either of the classic titles will receive a free gift: a code for the Mythical Pokemon Celebi, which you can redeem in either Pokemon Sun, Moon, or the upcoming Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. However, how you get your code may not be readily apparent, so we’ve outlined the steps you’ll need to take to receive your Celebi.

To find your code, launch the 3DS Eshop and select the Settings/Other option from the main menu. From there, choose Account Activity and view your receipt for either Pokemon Gold or Silver, depending on which version you purchased. Your code can be found at the bottom of the receipt. Make a note of the code, then launch either Pokemon Sun or Moon (or Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, if you choose to wait for those versions to launch) and select the Mystery Gift option. Input your code, and you’ll be able to pick your Celebi up from the deliveryman waiting inside any of the games’ Pokemon Centers.

While Nintendo has given away Celebi for several previous Pokemon games, this marks the first time the Mythical Pokemon has been distributed for Sun and Moon. The Grass/Psychic-type comes at level 30 and knows the following moves:

    • Heal Bell
    • Safeguard
    • Ancient Power
    • Future Sight

All players who purchase either Pokemon Gold or Silver between September 22, 2017 and September 21, 2018 will receive a code for Celebi. You have until October 31, 2018 to redeem it.

Celebi isn’t the only special Pokemon that Sun and Moon players can get right now; Nintendo is also giving away six different Pikachu, each wearing one of Ash’s hats from the anime series. However, you’ll only be able to acquire one of them; you can find the Pikachu distribution schedule here. Target stores will also give away a free Charizard beginning on October 1, and GameStop will start distributing codes for the Mythical Pokemon Marshadow the following week.

  • Fallout: New Vegas Dev “Would Love” To Make Another Fallout Game

Fallout: New Vegas Dev “Would Love” To Make Another Fallout Game

Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment would “certainly love to” make another game in Bethesda’s acclaimed RPG series. New Vegas director Josh Sawyer said in a recent interview that he and other staffers at the studio would be jazzed about returning to the post-apocalyptic series after making the beloved New Vegas.

“I would certainly love to work on a Fallout game again,” Sawyer told IGN. “I know there are tons of people at Obsidian who would love to work on a Fallout game again. If we were given the chance, we would certainly love to.”

    No Caption Provided

Sawyer went on to say that he frequently gets asked about Obsidian making another Fallout game. He said he fields “more questions about Fallout than anything else.” And there is good reason; New Vegas was well received.

GameSpot’s review scored it a 7.5/10. Review Kevin VanOrd said at the time, “Fallout: New Vegas is periodically awesome and consistently compelling. If you’ve got the stomach for some technological lunacy, this is one gamble that will pay off.”

New Vegas was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart previously talked about his potential plans for New Vegas 2.

“I think if we were to do Fallout: New Vegas 2–or just a new Fallout–we would probably separate it from what the internal team at Bethesda’s doing,” Urquhart said said in 2013. “We’d keep it on the West Coast, because we’re West Coast people. They’re East Coast, so it makes sense.”

“And we need an interesting confined area. So I mean, it could be LA. Fallout LA,” he added at the time. “That could be interesting. It’d probably be The Boneyard, which is from Fallout 1. It could be very different. It could be almost a Walking Dead meets Fallout-like thing because of all the radiation.”

The latest Fallout game was Fallout 4, which came out in November 2015, and sold like crazy. A Game of the Year edition is coming next week. As for Obsidian, one of the studio’s upcoming projects is Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire, which is due out in 2018.

Given how massively popular the Fallout series is, publisher Bethesda will surely announce more games in due time. But whether or not Obsidian will get the job to make a new entry could depend on a number of factors.

  • Thor: Ragnarok Director Is Latest Name Attached To Live-Action Akira Movie

Thor: Ragnarok Director Is Latest Name Attached To Live-Action Akira Movie

Akira is one of the best known anime and manga properties, and it is little wonder that Hollywood has been looking to make a live-action movie version for some time. Numerous directors have been considered for the project over the years, and the latest is Taika Waititi, whose next film is the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

As reported by Deadline, Waititi is in “negotiations” with Warner to helm a new movie adaptation of Akira. While this is far from a done deal, the fact that Waititi is having active talks with the studio means that the project is moving forward.

    No Caption Provided

In March, it was reported that the latest directors under consideration were David Sandberg (Light’s Out) and Daniel Espinosa (Life). Prior to that, Star Trek Beyond‘s Justin Lin was in talks, while Mad Mad director George Miller previously revealed that he was also approached by the studio.

In 2015, it was rumored that a trilogy was being planned, with Christopher Nolan involved at some level. Before that The Shallows, director Jaume Collet-Serra was attached–click here to see some concept art of this version. Deadline notes that a trilogy is still part of Warner’s plan for Akira.

In 2012, the film actually reached the pre-production stage before the Vancouver productions offices were shut down by the studio.

The manga of Akira ran between 1982 and 1990, and is widely credited for popularising Japanese comic books internationally. Equally, the success of the 1989 movie version did much to introduce Western viewers to anime, and is now considered one of the finest sci-fi films ever made.

  • New Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Video Shows DLC Fighter Monster Hunter

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite only launched this week, but already developer Capcom is gearing up to release new playable characters. Monster Hunter is the latest to be revealed, and you can check out some gameplay with the new fighter above.

Monster Hunter is one of four new playable characters coming as DLC this year. Capcom confirmed the others (Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Venom) to GameSpot earlier this week, though no release date has yet been set for any of them.

They’ll join an existing cast of 32 fighters–check out all the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite characters here. Alternatively, take a look our guide on how to beat Ultron Omega or our glossary of terms for Marvel vs. Capcom newbies.

In our Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite review-in-progress, critic Tamoor Hussain said the game’s underlying mechanics make it an “outstanding fighting game.”

He wrote: “Capcom has understood what caused the stagnation of Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s competitive scene and, to some extent, the issues Street Fighter V currently faces. In response it has created a fighting game focused on individuality and expression, with deep systems that reward studious players but also accommodate casuals. As someone who both plays and watches fighting games, I am excited to see what the future holds for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.” Read more in our full Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite review-in-progress, and keep an eye out for our final review soon.

  • New Resident Evil 7 DLC Gameplay Video Shows Fan-Favorite Character In Action

Resident Evil 7’s upcoming Not A Hero expansion is coming in December, and now fans can see it in action for the first time. The DLC stars series stalwart Chris Redfield and is set after the events of Resident Evil 7‘s base game. Take a look at the gameplay video below.

Not A Hero was originally slated to launch this past spring, but it was pushed back in order to improve the DLC so that it could “match the high quality of the main game,” according to game director Koshi Nakanishi. It’s now launching for free on December 12 alongside the recently announced Gold Edition and another expansion, called End of Zoe. While Not A Hero will see players explore the “horrors that lurk underneath the Baker’s mansion,” developer Capcom says End of Zoe is a “shocking installment” in which players will learn the fate of Jack and Marguerite’s daughter following the events of the main game.

Not A Hero and End of Zoe aren’t the only pieces of Resident Evil 7 DLC: two add-on packs, called Banned Footage Volumes 1 and 2, were released earlier this year, and they’re both included in the upcoming Gold Edition.

The base game launched in January to critical acclaim. In our Resident Evil 7: Biohazard review, critic Scott Butterworth called the horror title “a remarkable success.”

“By the end of the campaign, I was ready for the game to be over,” he wrote, “but that’s okay. RE7 ends just as it starts to outstay its welcome, and after the fact, I felt like I’d survived a truly harrowing journey. The boss fights may be slightly inconsistent and certain sections might drag after a while, but RE7 is still a remarkable success. It has a clear vision and executes it with impressive patience and precision. By returning to horror, Resident Evil has once again become something special.”

  • How To Use Mods In : Legendary, Armor, And Weapon Mods, Components Guide

How To Use Mods In : Legendary, Armor, And Weapon Mods, Components Guide

In Destiny 2, Mods provide useful effects and modifiers to your weapons and armor. For example, you can install Mods that allow you to reload your kinetic weapons faster, absorb more damage, change a gun’s elemental properties, or even recharge grenades faster. These effects can positively impact your ability to survive in a tense firefight. To help familiarize you with Mods, we’ve detailed below how to get Mods and the best practices of using them. Be wary, there are slight spoilers below.

For more guides for the game, including breakdowns of the three classes, along with our skill and ability galleries for the various subclasses, be sure to visit our Destiny 2 guides and walkthroughs page for more information on what’s happening in the online world of the Guardians.

    Why Are Mods Useful?

Aside from enhancing your equipment, Mods allow you to tailor your weapons or armor to better suit a specific playstyle. With Mods, you can craft multiple sets to use for different gameplay situations. For example, you might create one that emphasizes on enhancing mobility, one that improves your subclass, or even one made specifically for Raids. Mods are useful modifiers that can heavily increase your chances of survival.

    How Do I Get Mods?

During the main campaign, you can acquire Mods out in the field or by turning in Bright Engrams to the Eververse. You can equip them by entering the Details screen of a weapon or armor piece in the character screen. Like weapons, Mods come in Epic (Blue) and Legendary (Purple) categories.

After you beat the game, you’re also able to buy Mods by turning in Gunsmith Materials to Banshee-44. In order to get Gunsmith Materials, simply dismantle any unwanted weapons or armor in your inventory.

It’s ideal to try to find the weapons and armor pieces that you enjoy using before installing any Mods as once you put them in you won’t be able to get them back unless you buy/trade/craft them.

    No Caption Provided

    Which Mods Should I Use?

As mentioned in our glimmer guide, it’s useful to buy Epic Mods from Banshee-44 because once your power level hits 280, you can then trade in three of them for a Legendary Mod. The benefit to using Legendary mods is that you can gain five points of power towards kinetic weapons, energy weapons, and power weapons. In addition, you can gain five additional points of power towards your armor pieces alongside any special effects they might have. This helps you push your power level over the 280 mark.

It’s important to note that despite using Mods to enhance your power level, your weapon and armor drops will scale accordingly to your base power level stats. Don’t expect to get powerful equipment just because you’ve artificially upgraded your power level; though, it’s possible to get lucky and get higher powered equipment.

How Do I Create Powerful Mods?

You can trade in two Mod Components and 1,000 glimmer to Banshee-44 to create a random new Legendary weapon or armor Mod. To get a Mod Component, you need to dismantle other Legendary mods. For example, you can do this to get a Legendary Kinetic mod that gives 5 more power to kinetic weapons.
