    Set It Up Trailer

“We did it. We made two miserable people happy!” Netflix has debuted the first official trailer for a new romantic comedy titled Set It Up, arriving in the middle of June to liven up your summer days. Set It Up is the feature directorial debut of TV director/editor Claire Scanlon, and the story follows two assistants for executives in New York City, who try to set up their bosses to fall in love. As usual, not only does comedy ensue, but all kinds of romantic sparks fly and awkward things happen. Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell star, with Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs, as well as Noah Robbins, Jon Rudnitsky, Tituss Burgess, Pete Davidson, Shyrley Rodriguez, and Meredith Hagner. This looks expectedly cute and mildly amusing. ›››

Review: 'Deadpool 2' is More of the Same & That's Mostly a Good Thing

    Deadpool 2 Review

After playing an ill-conceived faux-Deadpool in 2008’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds spent years petitioning 20th Century Fox to give the beloved Marvel character the raunchy, irreverent big-screen treatment he deserves. He succeeded. In February 2016, Tim Miller’s Deadpool debuted with the biggest R-rated opening of all time. It would go on to become the highest-grossing R-rated film in history with a global box office of more than $750 million in total. A hit with both moviegoers and critics alike, Deadpool’s massive success made a sequel inevitable, but does Deadpool 2 live up to the enormous expectations of its rabid fan base, or does it do to sequel cinema what Limp Bizkit did to music in the late ’90s? ›››

  • Second Official Trailer for McQuarrie's 'Mission: Impossible – Fallout'

Second Official Trailer for McQuarrie's 'Mission: Impossible – Fallout'

    Mission: Impossible - Fallout

“He’s not just some observer, he’s an assassin.” Paramount has debuted another awesome new trailer for the highly anticipated sequel Mission: Impossible – Fallout, continuing the M:I franchise starring Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt. After the events of Rogue Nation, Hunt and his IMF team are now on the run, and they’re being hunted down by brute enforcer Henry Cavill. The excellent cast for this action film includes everyone from before: Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby. My goodness, this looks badass! I have to say, this has the potential to be way better than Rogue Nation – perhaps because I was not a big fan of that one, and perhaps because they’ve polished this one to perfection. I mean, damn! The action looks INSANE. I’m so in. ›››

  • Official Trailer for Gritty Action Movie 'Mile 22' with Mark Wahlberg

Official Trailer for Gritty Action Movie 'Mile 22' with Mark Wahlberg

    Mile 22 Trailer

“We fight new wars. The old options… They don’t always succeed.” STX Entertainment has debuted the first official trailer for Mile 22, the latest action movie collaboration between director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg (who have made Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, Patriots Day together). Wahlberg plays a top secret, high level CIA agent in their “least understood unit”, tasked with finding and transporting an asset to Mile 22 for extraction. The title Mile 22 refers to a particular place where the person can be safely rescued, and Wahlberg’s characters encounters “some very evil people” along the way who want him and everyone in his unit dead. The cast includes John Malkovich, Ronda Rousey, Iko Uwais, Terry Kinney, Sala Baker, Alexandra Vino, Poorna Jagannathan, and Lauren Cohan. Yeah, so this looks like another slick covert ops action movie from Berg, honestly nothing particular new or unique. Have fun. ›››

  • First Trailer for Sequel 'Escape Plan 2: Hades' with Sylvester Stallone

First Trailer for Sequel 'Escape Plan 2: Hades' with Sylvester Stallone

    Escape Plan 2: Hades Trailer

“This is bigger than any one of us.” Up for another unwanted sequel to an action movie most people didn’t see? Here you go. Lionsgate Premiere has debuted the first official trailer for Escape Plan 2: Hades, the direct-to-VOD/DVD sequel to the action-heist-prison break movie Escape Plan from a few years ago (which I never even saw). Surprisingly, they somehow convinced Sylvester Stallone to return for this as Ray Breslin, who escape from an inescapable prison in the first movie (what an original plot). This sequel sees him in another inescapable techno-prison, surprise surprise, that is called “Hades”. The film’s ensemble cast features Dave Bautista, Jaime King, Wes Chatham, 50 Cent, Jesse Metcalfe, Baylee Curran, Lydia Hull, Ashley Cusato, and Vincent Young. This looks as bad (if not even worse) as it sounds, but it might be the kind of bargain bin entertainment that a few of you might need right now. Take a look below. ›››

  • First Teaser for Queen Film 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Starring Rami Malek

First Teaser for Queen Film 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Starring Rami Malek

    Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer

“This is when the operatic section comes in.” 20th Century Fox has debuted the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Bohemian Rhapsody movie, telling the story of the famous 80’s rock band Queen and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Rami Malek stars as Mercury, in this exciting, energetic chronicle of the years leading up to Queen’s legendary appearance at the Live Aid (1985) concert in 1985. This is also the movie that was being directed by Bryan Singer, before he was fired and replaced by Dexter Fletcher while in production. The full cast includes Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aiden Gillen, Tom Hollander, and Mike Myers. I’ve been waiting to get a glimpse at this, and it looks great so far! There’s a health amount of good footage in this first teaser, but I’m very happy with our first glimpse and I honestly can’t wait to see more. Rami looks out of the world amazing in this. Rock on. ›››

Cannes 2018: Lukas Dhont's Ballerina Film 'Girl' is Stunningly Beautiful

    Girl Review

One of the biggest discoveries and best films of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival is a Belgian dramatic feature titled Girl, from first-time filmmaker Lukas Dhont. I am still stunned by this film, still thinking about it days later. It’s always wonderful to see first feature films that have such assured, confident filmmaking, and this is one of those films that is impressive in every way. Girl is about a transgender teenager who dreams of a being a ballerina, and she struggles with the pressures of school and teenager life, along with the intense desire to be perceived and feel like a beautiful woman. It’s such an achingly beautiful, emotionally resonant, intelligent, breathtaking film. Perhaps the best transgender film we’ve seen to date, on a whole other level of excellence above even the Academy Award-winning A Fantastic Woman. One of my favorites of the festival. ›››

First Trailer for Spike Lee's True Story Dark Comedy 'BlacKkKlansman'

    BlacKkKlansman Trailer

“With the right white man, we can do anything?” Focus Features has revealed the first official trailer for Spike Lee’s new film BlacKkKlansman, timed in sync with the premiere of the film at the Cannes Film Festival this week. Based on an incredible true story, BlacKkKlansman is about a black police officer in Colorado in the 70s who is recruited into the local chapter of the KKK. John David Washington (son of Denzel) plays Ron Stallworth, who convinced other Klan members over the phone that he was a white man, and went undercover to infiltrate the KKK. When his presence was required, the officers sent a white officer in who doubled him and became highly regarded within the organization. Adam Driver co-stars, and the cast includes Laura Harrier, Topher Grace, Ryan Eggold, and Robert John Burke. This premiered to rave reviews, and it’s Spike Lee at his most angry and brilliant, with a searing dark comedy that hits hard. ›››

Cannes 2018: Husson's 'Girls of the Sun' is a Portrait of Women of War

    Girls of the Sun

“To the ones forgotten by history by those who shape it.” While there have been many powerful, important war films over the years, including a few directed by women, Girls of the Sun is a very unique and one-of-a-kind film. Made by French filmmaker Eva Husson, Girls of the Sun (or Les filles du soleil in French) tells the story of a band of Kurdish women fighters, warriors, you could even say, participating in the war in Iraq. This is one of the first and only times we’ve ever seen a war film about female fighters, focusing entirely on them and their experiences, and it’s an engaging and intense experience. More than anything it proves that Eva Husson has the chops to direct even bigger, better action movies and/or features that aren’t just simple dramas in a city. And there’s a very honorable, empowering aspect to telling this story about these fighters. ›››

“The soul belongs to heaven and the body to hell.” Get ready… This week at the Cannes Film Festival, controversial Danish director Lars von Trier returns after being banned for 8 years to premiering his latest film, titled The House That Jack Built. The House That Jack Built stars Matt Dillon as the titular Jack, a highly intelligent serial killer. The film follows him for 12 years profiling his murders. Also starring Bruno Ganz, Uma Thurman, Ed Speleers, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Sofie Gråbøl, Riley Keough, and Yu Ji-tae. The film is described as being about “the idea that life is evil and soulless,” and runs a total of 2 hours, 35 minutes, which means we’re in for something quite special from von Trier. This trailer gives us a look at a lot of footage from this, and I’m so there for it. This is a very bloody, violent trailer – watch out. ›››
